Great Package

Pros: fast, quiet, large bright display, fast hard disk (7200 rpm), considerable disk space and memory, dual monitor support works great if you have room
Cons: power supply is only 300 watts, monitor is too bright before adjusting
Model Number: hp p7-1298cb
"Its a pleasure to use. I'll be using it mostly for web, video and photo editing. The computer is zippy and the large display is beautiful. Its running cool and quiet. The hard disk and memory are ample. The tiny speakers sound amazingly good."

Note

Model Number: p7-1298c
"Do yourselves a favor -- the problems cited by other customers could be due to the cable(s) used to connect the monitor to the CPU. The instructions are not that clear and two cables are provided by HP. Only connect using one cable (the white one)."

Thought it was a good purchase

Pros: loved the monitor
Cons: video display quit in less than a week
Model Number: HP Pavilion p7-1298cb
"In two days after setup, it was very difficult to return from sleep state, then finally the monitor simply died. Tech support was very good and tried a lot but their conclusion was either the video card or the motherboard. Returned it and was very unhappy as my personal information was on the system and couldn't erase it."

Good Unit

Pros: fast fun great graphics out of the box.
Cons: softwear/hardwear glitch that is common
Model Number: HP Pavilion p7-1298cb
"The HP Pavilion p7-1298cb is fast and fun although I had problems with the APU. My screen would go black and windows wouldn't load... On two units. Both the same. Found out that you have to restore the computer to factory condition. My computer would only work in safe mode with VGA video output. Untill factory restore. According to a, HP tech this problem is common. It isn't a problem with HP it is a problem with any computer with the "Radeon HD Graphics" I recommend updating the power supply and Graphics if you're a gamer such as myself! :) Hope this helps"

Super disappointed- have to return it

"While I was very excited for the great price for this computer, I have to return it today. From the beginning there was a problem when it would sleep (and would wake up- and only show the desktop with no programs or anything else visible). After a week of this, the screen simply would not wake up at all- and programs were only visible in safe mode. Clearly there is something wrong with this machine. After spending over an hour working with the concierge and reinstalling windows - nothing worked. I'm so thankful for costco's return policy. however, it is still a huge hassle and I wish I had not bought this machine. I've only had it 1 month."
