I like it

"The other reviewers are kind of right. If you are doing industrial shredding, forget it. But if it is for home, it is good. Sure, it might take some prepping (separating pages, stacking them, etc)... but then you put it in there and leave it. No manual feeding it. It also will shred a stack of receipts, which is really what I wanted. So the hopper doesn't just take 8.5x11 sheets."

don't get too excited

Pros: great idea, shreds stack if everything stacked jussst right.
Cons: finicky not reliable, still requires attention don't walk away, weak power, no more than 5 sheets in manual
"I had a alot of stuff to shred and thought this would make short work of it. wrong.
the product says it will shred paper with staples, it won't. In fact if it gets more than about 5 sheets at a time it jams. Also if the wheels don't catch the paper it will continue to turn and sound like its shredding but it doesn't. it heats up fast and cool down takes a while. bank statements are problem because if you don't separate and flip the folded sides against each other it jams. don't even think about putting unopened mail through the manual feeder..it will jam.
However, if you stack the paper just right, make sure nothing thick is in there, make sure that folded papers are not stacked together, make sure no staples are in the paper; it will shred a stack of paper. That is why i couldn't give it just 1 star. It is a finicky machine which defeats the purpose for me."

Great idea, very poor implementation

Pros: great for small batches of un-stapled documents
Cons: not the solution to shredding large quantities
Model Number: Swingline 60X Stacknshred Item # 702543
"I have stacks of documents to shred, and this product looked like a godsend that would automate my job. Unfortunately, it has a couple of fatal flaws. First, if you pile a stack of documents in the input hopper, if any of them are stapled together it will stop the shredding process. The machine will continue to run and sound like it is shredding, but the paper is jammed in the roller mechanism and is not feeding into the shredder. The second flaw is run time versus cooling down time. The shredder will shred almost one hopper of paper (about 50 sheets), then shut off to cool down. Cool down takes from 20 minutes to over three hours. You just have to patiently wait for the shredder to decide to restart.
If you have 30-50 documents to shred and they are not stapled together, this would be a great device. If you have a box of stuff to shred, forget it."

Swingline should stick to staplers

Pros: none
Cons: doesn't work.
Model Number: SWI1757572
"This is a piece of junk and it is going back to Costco. Extremely disappointed. Didn't even try the full 60 pages it was suppose to handle in the tray. It did a few pages and then stopped because the shredded paper goes straight down and causes a mound of paper which clogs the machine. I did a few more pages. About 6 to 8 at a time but had to keep opening the waste bin and dumping or rearranging the shreds. After a few minutes it stopped working and it took way to long (over 30 minutes) to get the ready light again. I gave up and used my old "hook over the garbage can" shredder. So I am done. Can't see where their design will ever work to handle 60 pages; it can't handle 10 pages unattended. You need to purchase a babysitter for it."

Do not waste your money

Pros: none
Cons: does not effectively pull paper. needs help, goes extremely slow, not worth the money
Model Number: Swingline 60x Stack-and-shred
"I bought this because I have 2 young kids and a lot of paper to shred and from the description it looked safe and efficient. However, when I received it I put the paper in as instructed, left for a few hours, and it had only shredded a few pieces of paper. Like another person reviewed this is a great idea but the equipment is not up to par. Very flimsy and will not pull the paper in. I am returning it today and I just got it yesterday. Dont waste your time or money on this."

Worst Shredder Ever

Cons: jams
"This is a piece of garbage. Jams constantly, worst piece of electronics I've bought in my life -- literally. Will be returning to Costco tonight."

Do Not Purchase!

Pros: none
Cons: jams, overheats, does not feed paper into "teeth" to shred
Model Number: 702543
"Shredder does not work! Despite reading several reviews and trying numerous "tricks" mentioned in these reviews the shredder does not work. Very simply the rollers do not effectively pull the paper into the "teeth" to shred paper even when initially creasing paper in the center. The manual feed jams and overheats quickly. I really do not know why this item is even on the market. Will be returning item today."

Only good for small batch of letter size paper

Pros: good for light load of letter size paper
Cons: does not accept legal size paper in hopper, product falls far short from its promise
Model Number: SWI1757572
"I totally agree with 1st reviewer’s comments about this shredder. In addition, it only accepts letter size paper in the hopper. If you need to shred a lot of legal size paper or have a lot of paper to shred, this is not the shredder for you.
After spending a frustrating afternoon testing this shredder, I am returning it to Costco for refund."
