Buy a blendtec

Pros: 2 hp
Cons: loud, constant air bubbles, overheated, left pieces in smoothies, made mixture too hot, hard to empty jar completely
" I can not believe how much better the blendtec is over the Vitamix. It is amazing. Night and Day. Old Technology vs. New Technology. Where do I begin...
It fits under the cabinet, you have no need for a plunger at all, the settings are awesome, they do more than just slow to fast - there must be quite a science to the settings, it mixes better - not leaving any pieces, it does not need to mix as long - therefore it does not make the food hot, it is quieter, it is easier to pour, the blade shape makes it easier to scrape the bottom to empty the jar, it has an on / off switch on the back, just to name a few....
I have made a few smoothies with the vitamix and was never happy. I used it for nut butters the most. There were things I did not like right away with the vitamix but I did not know there were any other options. It would seem like the blade would stop moving and it would rev up very loud, supposedly what they call an air pocket. It happened all the time, even when vigorously using the plunger. Then I was having issues with it overheating. The first smoothie I made with the blendtec was great! It mixes so thoroughly with just a push of the bottom. There is no comparison. I do not know of anything I would change with the blendtec, and if you knew me, you would know that is saying a lot! "

Pros: powerful, leaves no ice in smoothies
Cons: loud (well expected for the power), expensive
Model Number: ES-3 ES-BLACK
" I have owned one for 7 years now. Still tears up anything I put in it.
Make shakes, smoothies, mixed drinks, blend up vegetables for puree and even nuts.
The carafe is showing some signs of "spider webbing" as I call it, it is not cracked, but seems to be stressed at the top where the lid comes on and off.
The bottom of the carafe (where it mounts to the blender base) is showing some oil residue when done blending. I just wipe with paper towel, still runs fine. I assume the bearings are going on it, so will have to replace the carafe soon ($75). "

Good for 1 year 200 cycles

Pros: easy to clean, compact design, programed settings, will ship out replacement jars w/o return of old, c.s. answered phone quick
Cons: does not liquify seeds as advertized, loud, jar design still in beta many problems, jar blade seal leaks after light normal use, too high cost for product that has design flaws, vibarates more than other brands
" Was great for about a year. Then I noticed the blade barrings are getting loose and the blades move side to side about 1/32 inch on both jars. Only juiced 200 times about 100 per jar. Called Blendtec and they said THEY HAVE NOT PERFECTED their jar design yet. Not to use if blade shaft gets loose even before they start leaking. They will ship out as many new jars under the 8 year warranted period but what after that? At least costco will still take it back. "

Absolutely wonderful blender

Pros: heavy duty reliable versatile
Cons: none
Model Number: Classic
" I've owned a lot of blenders over the years and my Blendtec blender with both the wide-side and four-side jars is the very best. I'm very glad I decided to purchase it about 3 years ago and wouldn't ever want to be without one in my kitchen again! "
