Perfect for overseas travel

Model Number: Samsung WB250
" Purchased for son day before leaving on 12-day school trip to Europe. He doesn't have a smartphone (no data plan required for this camera!). Opened a Facebook account prior to leaving, set up Wi-Fi, and posted photos for the family to see throughout his travels. Wears case around neck for safety and access (provided). 16g memory card is a bonus (most come with 4)-so we didn't have to invest in additional cards for travels. Excellent zoom - necessary to fully appreciate details at top of cathedrals. Now I want to purchase one for myself. Great Camera. "

Great deal!

Pros: great for someone who doesn't have a smart phone!
" I was able to connect to my network very easily. The camera found my network and I typed in the pass code on the touch screen. Done! I was able to email my picture right away. I have not tried any social sites yet, so I can't comment on those, but if it's like emailing I expect no problems. "

Does not deliver

Cons: see above
Model Number: WB250
" This camera claims to be able to send photos to your smart phone as well wifi capable of emailing photos. I spent hours including time spent with a Samsung rep
without being able to perform either of these functions. I also spent 2hrs,and paid for, a very savvy computer and camera "geek" to set it up properly to no avail. It would appear that Samsung should have done more in their R&D dept before releasing this camera!

Not very happy with this camera, returning it

Model Number: WB250F
" I purchased this camera for my mom who would love to take photos of my kids but doesn't have the skills and time to upload and share photos using a computer.
I bought it because of the following features:
- Bigger lens for better picture quality
- Smart + wifi for easy sharing
- Touch screen for ease of navigation and edit/delete photos prior to sharing.
However, I am not recommend this for those who are looking the "smart" features because they're have severe limitations, and because there are better alternatives:
- Google blocked my first attempt to login from the camera. I had to use a computer to temporarily allow "suspicious devices" to login
- There is no full automatic sharing to Facebook, Picasa etc... You have to navigate through a few menus, select a few photos up to a maximum transfer size (at 5M pixel you can only upload around 10-12 at a time). This is painful because if you are uploading 40 or more photos to your Picasa album, you have to remember which ones you already uploaded. I always ended up with many may duplicates every time I upload.
- You just cannot upload HD (720p and up) videos to Youtube. I haven't tried yet, but it says only low resolution videos can be uploaded. You can argue that this is to save battery, but you can't do this with the power plugged in either. So what is the point of being "smart" here? My tiny cell phone and tablet let me upload HD video just fine.
- The touch screen is nice, but only useful for a few buttons like "Menu" and "Yes/No" and select photos from a thumbnail. I don't see a huge benefit for this touch screen. There's no pinching to zoom in/out on photos. Swiping the screen to scroll up and down works, but pretty sluggish so I ended up using the up/down buttons instead. Do not expect Android or iPhone behavior with this touch screen.
I started out with very low expectation on the picture quality knowing this brand, and having read other reviews. I am OK with the picture quality, it takes clearer photos than other point and shoot cameras that I have, but then this one cost twice as much. And I doubt that picture quality can compete with other well known brands for similar prices. I bought it for the "smart" and easy to use features but I have been disappointed. I should just stick with a really good point and shoot camera, and use a wifi SD card (look it up) for easy sharing. "
