Not too good

Model Number: hp Envy 15.6 TouchSmart
"I have had several HP PCs and loved all of them except this one.
I have had it 5 months now and something has gone wrong with my Windows licensing key. The windows software runs but it keeps asking me for the product key which they dont give you any long so why it asks for it I dont know. I have called the costco tech service a couple times and they had HP on the line too - they dont seem to have a fix to this problem and want me to send the laptop in to HP which of course I dont want to do. Trying to find some other fix.
In addition I dont like the touchpad without the left and right click buttons - it is difficult to use. And the hinges dont seem very strong. I dont see this laptop lasting very long."

Adequate Performance, poor quality

Pros: windows 8 touch screen performed well, good speed for a quad i7, excellent network connectivity via wi-fi, windows 8.1 upgrade was nice and easy
Cons: glob in middle of the screen., slow disk drive response when searching for files., video is integrated - uses memory
Model Number: HP ENVY 15-j063cl
"I was looking to upgrade from my 5 year old HP Pavilion DV6000 and, after reviewing several HP and Dell computers, chose the HP ENVY 15-j063cl.
Installation and connection went smooth over the weekend. I put it in my backpack (which has carried numerous laptops in the past couple of years) and drove to a conference. When checking out my computer at the conference I noticed a big glob in the center of the screen - figured it was moisture from being in the car on a 3.5 hour ride. Going to the hotel after the day's session, I opened it back up and the glob was gone. The following day, no problem. On the third day, I noticed the glob was back, only much larger. It has not gone away yet. It's going back to Costco today.
