Bang for the buck

Pros: price quality feel weight
Cons: not one yet
"SOG always catches my attention. I actually saw this combo a few months ago and waited for it to come around again. Got these for outdoor gear.
Machete - Good overall feel. Thicker and a little shorter blade than the one I've used for years. Solid feel when you hold this thing.
Tomahawk - good feel overall. Nice quality head. Versatile.

Solid

"To be honest, I don't know that I would necessarily buy these two pieces as individuals if I found them anywhere near their normal MSRP. They are both solid, both decently balanced, and both seem to perform well--but there is so much competition in the market that there's not much to set these two apart.
That said, as a duo, for the cost of what a normal tomahawk runs you, I'm thrilled that I snatched them up.
The axe is moderately-well balanced, the strike-face is fantastic, and it's utility is high. Compared to most of the "tactical" 'hawks I've used, I'd say it's about a 7 out of 10. After a little bit of modification (wrapping the grip, added some weight to the butt for balance), it replaced the old, beaten up one I keep strapped to my armor.
The machete is really more of a long knife, but is adequate for clearing moderate brush and has a saw that works amazingly well. In terms of balance and feel it's actually more like a shortsword than a machete; which didn't bother me one bit.
All in all, I'm very pleased. They're good enough to get the job done, but cheap enough that I won't cry if I break or lose them in the field.
I'd definitely recommend them."

Excellent Multi-tool for glovebox or workshop

Pros: full sized, durable, strong
Cons: heavy
"I purchased one of these for each of our vehicles. It’s a great full-sized multi-tool that is built strong and has a good selection of features. I’ve never had a problem with the gear-reduction feature on these (or any of the other SOG’s I own). This powerlock model has rotating covers that provide a large, smooth surface against your palm and fingers so the tool doesn’t injure your hand like other models. This tool is large and rugged; therefore is too heavy to be carried in a pocket."
