"I hesitated to buy this guitar because of the mixed reviews but figured it would be an okay guitar for my son to take to school for a beginning guitar class. It was so warped it couldn't even be tuned by anyone! Even the guitar teacher said it was hopeless. Thank goodness for Costco's great return policy!"

"The guitar seems OK. It came in a box with everything disorganized. There were NO Guitar Picks in the box. No instructions and basically seem like it was repackaged. Next time I would buy in the store or from a guitar store."

Great 1st Guitar
Pros: inexpensive, full size guitar, comes with a electronic tuner and pics
Cons: strap is unconfortable
"I wanted to start playing guitar but didn't want to spend a lot of money because I didn't know if I would stick with it. It has been a week now and with the help of the Chord Buddy, I am loving this guitar! Once I learned how to tune it, it sounded pretty good. I do have to tune it after every couple of days but no big deal, it only takes a minute."

Real Good Starter Guitar!

"I purchased this guitar for my 13-year-old daughter and it's a much better quality than I've expected. It's a full size guitar even though it looks pretty small when it's in the box. It makes a little buzzing sound from high strings like other reviewer mentioned but it's acceptable and still clear. Overall build quality is good for a guitar under a hundred dollars and the included tuner works good as well~! My girl is very happy and practicing a couple of hours every day now. Definitely worth for the price I paid!"

Worst online purchase
"The first shipment contained a child's guitar. Costco was able to ship the second one with no additional cost. The second one looks like a child's guitar as well. The workmanship is sub par & it looks nothing like the photo on the site. The headstock & the neck is super short and skinny. Looks like I'm playing a banjo. Part of the pick guard was glued on the bridge. Unless they shipped the wrong product again for the second time, this is a child's guitar. If so, Costco needs to change the product descriptions. Better yet, they should carry American made guitars."

Excellent value
Pros: hard to wrong with costco
"Bought this acoustical full size guitar for my son who is 8 years old. I bought a beginners kids guitar music book and he is off to a good start. It has easy to follow tuning instructions for the tuner that is included with the guitar. This guitar has steel strings and great sound. I play piano and am teaching my sons piano but they have an interest in the guitar so Costco offers a great value making guitar playing affordable."

Cons: Some of the tuning machine nuts were not tightened down causing washer to rattle and vibrate when playing. Was not sounding good, and I was going to return it, until I pin pointed the problem and tightened the nuts down. It was an easy fix though.

"I love Costco, but this guitar was a disappointment. It sounded good, but the higher strings buzz when you fret them. Normally the fretboard is adjustable so you can lower it (or raise the strings) but the nut used to do this was stuck. Thankfully, Costco has a great return policy."

"I bought this guitar and also a basic version of a known guitar brand -Fender also carried by Costco. I took both of them to a professional guitar player (who teaches in few schools) to help me select the better one. After trying both, he told me to keep the Silvertone because it sounded better. I guess if it comes to a basic guitar the name doesn't matter. They are very similar in sound. Hope it helps! My son loves it and it sounds really good!"

"I strongly recommand this set for the beginner. At first, I was bit hesitant to order because of unknown brand and the low price, but quality was better than I expected.
