Besk Steel Desk

Pros: easy assembly
Cons: none
Model Number: Alera Double Pedestal Desk
"By far one cannot beat the price of this double pedestal desk with a center pencil drawer. Costco delivered it to the door of my inner office and it took about ten minutes to assemble the legs and drawer pulls. No reason to by a HON for twice the price. Thanks Costco!"

Not a Steelcase, but a Good Value

Pros: solid construction, made in usa !!!, prompt customer service (working through costco)
Cons: drawers are a bit sticky, drawer lock mechanism very sensitive
Model Number: 128660
"This desk provides a great work surface and storage for my daughter. Some might say it's overkill for a student, but she loves the big flat work space.
It is pretty big and heavy so get some help to move it to where it needs to be, and don't plan on moving it around (we had to go up to the 2nd floor!)
Assembly was quite easy. All needed was a #2 Philips screwdriver. Pretty straightforward, which is good because the instructions themselves weren't of much help.
We had three issues:
1) Center locking drawer:
When you push in the center desk drawer and lock it it then locks all of the drawers. But, the spring that keeps the center drawer pushed out to the position where the other drawers can be opened/closed is far too strong. The result is the drawer constantly sticking out an inch or so, getting in the way of the person sitting there. It is VERY annoying. In the end I just removed the spring. But still, if you push the drawer in too far (which kids do all the time) it locks all the drawers resulting in "Daddy..what do I do now? It's locked again...."
2) Drawers Sticking/Sliding:
The mechanism for the drawers sliding feels pretty crude. The slide okay, but not that nice gliding feel of my own (and very old) Steelcase desk. This is a bit nitpicking as it's okay.
3) Laminate Peeling
The vertical laminate piece that facing the person at the desk was peeled off maybe 6mm. My concern here was that it was now exposed and ripe to be peeled back by someone brushing against it. It likely would then break off causing a real cosmetic issue.
All I had to do was carefully peel it out a bit and add some SuperGlue. That did the trick.
Overall we're very happy. My daughter loves it (show moved up from the usual small PC work desk.) Compared to what else is on the market and the fact that it gets delivered right to your door is a bonus I think it's hard to beat the value."
