Good loft except off-gassing is terrible

Pros: well-built, atractive design
Cons: horrible fumes
"This is a very sturdy and well built loft, but the off-gassing is the worst of any furniture purchase we have ever made. My husband noticed the smell as he unpacked it, but we didn't think too much of it initially until we got it set up in my son's room.
My son has a small bedroom (the main reason we purchased the loft) and once the loft was set up in there, the odor was unbelievable. There was no way we would let my son sleep in there, but fortunately we have a guest room and despite it being winter we live in the desert southwest and have been leaving the windows open during the day to help it air out faster. It's been about 3 weeks since our purchase and there is still a lingering odor. We still have not let our son sleep or play in the bedroom while that odor persists.
If we had to do it over again, we would have left the unit air out in the garage before setting it up in the bedroom. It's just a shame that this manufacturer would use such chemically treated wood *especially* for children's bedroom furniture.
The other negative is that the desk area under the bed is actually quite short. I'm 5'2" and when I'm sitting on a chair at the desk my head is only about 3 inches from the bed. I also need to hunch over to go in and out of that area. That's not such a concern for my son now as he's only 6 years old, but it might be an issue in the future. The actual desk area is really generous though at 4'9" x 1'9".
If it weren't for the off-gassing we would be very happy with the purchase. The delivery was fast and my husband had no trouble setting it up. Hopefully this review will help anyone else who is thinking about buying it."

Top Quality

"It was delivered in three boxes each about 90 pounds. Took 2 of us about 2.5 hours to assemble. Pretty Easy! This is top quality construction. Don't waste your money on the cheap stuff. You'll be very happy with this purchase."

pretty good for a small bedroom

"For a 10x10 bedroom there are not a lot of options out there. So this met our needs and seemed to be a decent price as well. It goes together pretty well. I did find a few minor fit and finish type problems and I was short one screw. I am sure I can call them and rectify this. One thing that surprised me was the dovetail construction on the drawers. But in the same breath I think they went on the cheap for the drawer tracks. The height of the top dresser drawers are a little high for my 9 year old, so the manufacturer does sell a step stool (not from Costco). Also I think I'm getting the matching media cart too (also from mfg. not Costco). I wish they offered a matching chair. Because the bed gives you wooden slats, I recommend a bunkie board under the mattress. Overall I would recommend this set, especially for those with a small bedroom. Pay attention to the measurements and make sure you can visualize it in the room before purchasing. The drawers / dresser are at the foot of the bed and will face 90 degrees to the side. Also the ladder does take up some space so factor that in too. If this is going against a wall, keep in mind that you will need to build it away from the wall (to tighten in some screws) and then move it into position. You WILL need a second person to lift the bed up into position. I did this myself and it was quite difficult."

A+ All the way around!

"Super quality, construction, and packaging. We searched locally and on line for a loft bed that meet our needs. It is rare to find a product with big draws. This product went above and beyond expectations. Superior workmanship. It is so sturdy. It was packaged so well for shipping. The furniture arrived in A+ condition. Really can't say enough good about it."

I'm very satisfied

"I purchased this for my son and I couldn't be more pleased. The wood is high quality, solid, and very sturdy in its design and construction. It's a great space saver and perfect for his eventual homework and study area. It also provides much needed drawer space for clothes, so a separate dresser isn't required. The mattress sits on a raised platform which makes changing the sheets a lot easier (that was a major concern of mine). The free shipping is a definite plus.
It took my friend and I approximately two hours to assemble. The instructions were simple to follow. Have an electric drill available when assembling as it makes it much easier to secure the wood screws.
My only con: one screw hole was missed so I had to drill a hole myself."
