Kirkland Signature™ Omega-3 Fish Oil, 180 Softgels

Discover the many benefits of Omega-3 with Kirkland Signature Enteric Coated Fish Oil One Per Day. 1200 mg Fish Oil, 684 mg Omega-3 Fatty Acids per serving.     Helps maintain and support heart and vascular health.†   Enteric Coating reduces fishy odor and after taste. Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to be an important part of overall health.   If you don’t consume two servings of fatty fish per week, like salmon, trout, herring, sardines and mackerel, etc., a daily fish oil supplement is a good idea. Take only 1 softgel each day to receive 684 mg of EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) two important  fatty acids shown to have health benefit.  Many health care organizations recommend consuming 500 mg EPA and DHA daily.  Supportive but not conclusive research shows that consumption of EPA and DHA Omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.  (See nutrition information for total fat and cholesterol content). Kirkland Signature’s special Enteric Coated Formula helps prevent fish burps, odor and aftertaste. Enteric Coated with a hint of Vanilla, to reduce that fishy odor and after taste common in other forms of Fish Oil supplements. Kirkland Signature Fish Oil supply comes from deep ocean waters. Our fish oil is not supplied from farm-raised fish.  State-of-the-art purification processes are used to remove PCBs, dioxins, and furans, and mercury to ensure purity levels below 0.09 ppm, 2ppt WHO TEQs and 0.1 ppm respectively. †This statement has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. best price

Pros: very reasonable minimal fish burps.
Cons: none
"My doctor recommended omega 3. This is the cheapest source of omega 3 I found. The prescription source at 4 grams was unbelievably expensive. Taking 4 capsules per day, fish burps are minimal. Will update at next blood work."

Well labeled, no fishy "burps"

Pros: great value, coating works well
Cons: low dha compared to name brand prescription, higher fatty acid content than name brand rx.
"I take 4 of these a day, I think the DHA, while a little low compared to the name brand prescription drug, is still plenty to get the job done. I don't have any side effects."

awkward to swallow, not 'burp free'

Cons: fishy burps, large pills
"I just started using these a few weeks ago so I really couldn't report on any health benefits. For the price and the supposed contents this is a decent deal.
HOWEVER:
-These pills are pretty big, and somewhat laborious to swallow. If you have a sensitive gag reflex, I wouldn't recommend these.
-More often than not, I don't get fishy burps--but they do happen occasionally."

The best yet!

Pros: no fishy after burps, best price on the market for high omega-3, can buy at local costco
Cons: need to take more for same omega-3 as trunature
""I was told by my doctor that I should consider taking a prescription medication to lower my cholesterol, and that my triglycerides could use some lowering too. I have been taking the Trunature Triple Strength Omega-3 900 mg that Costco offers online for a year now and have been very pleased! Although large in size, 3 a day would give me the 2700mg intake that was recommended to lower my triglycerides. Although my triglycerides have not been retested, my cholesterol has been reduced by 56 points without changing anything else in my diet. NOW I have found THIS product and decided to switch over if they also have no fishy after burps. Although I will need to take 4 to get the same amount of Omega-3, they are a better value for the money and I can buy them at my local Costco.""

Just one gelcap a day

Pros: the enteric coating keeps the fishty burps at bay
"This fish oil is not like the others that you have to take three times a day. How convenient is just once a day? Much better. It is easy to get my husband to take one gel cap a day. Three times a day is about impossible. We both forget."

Not burpless

Pros: price, recommended daily amounts of dha and epa
Cons: not burpless
"These have the recommended daily amount of EPA and DHA in one capsule; however I agree with Consumer Reports that the burpless claim is not accurate. GNC triple strength caps truly are burpless, but a good bit more expensive."

Refrigerate!

"I only recently learned that fish oil capsules should be refrigerated even though that is not stated on the bottle. Also, bite into one of the capsules every month or so to be sure that they have not turned rancid. A mild fishy taste is OK, but beyond that, the product should be tossed. I was shocked to find that some of my oil capsules were rancid although not expired. (I had not been refrigerating them.)"

Kirkland Enteric Coated Fish Oil

Pros: only need 1 per day
Cons: large pill
"I have been trying to compare this product with the cheaper Kirkland fish oil for months. Finally I get the differences. This one is coated to digest further down the digestive tract to avoid fish burps. Also, the amount of Omega 3's is higher in this one. The EPA and DHA Levels are broken down on the label back. Recommended dosage on this one is 1 pill per day (since they are large, this is a plus!) whereas the cheaper version says 3 pills per day (don't think I could do that!)."

exercise, sleep, a good diet and EPA

Pros: epa content is listed, price, enteric coated, molecular distillation, come from small wild fish
Cons: 410 mg epa/cap means 2-3 caps per day to =1 gram
Model Number: Item 240669
"You need 1 gram of EPA per day (eicosapentaenoic acid) according to most studies to get the cardiovascular and other health benefits of Omega3s. Take 2-3 of these daily to get 1 gram of EPA at about $0.23 per day. Easy enough to take with 8oz. water, enteric coating means very rare to experince "fish urps". Bottle lists molecular distillation is used to remove contaminants (since we have unfortunately polluted our oceans), and product comes from wild small fish, not farm raised fish (not bio-engineered frankenfish with unknown long term human use effects)."

Great Deal

"The beauty thing going only skin deep is the truth. I look great but have autoimmune problems. I started taking these because you get a high dose of EPA & DHA in one pill on the cheap. Adult women should take 1.1 grams a day so taking two a day is better. I am taking 4 a day to get to the 2.7 grams that they use in clinical trials to down regulate pain. We eat too much omega 6 the precursor to inflammatory eicosanoids. The anti-inflammatory eicosanoids come from omega 3s. Something is really working for me. My autoimmune attacks now are tolerable. I cut out vegetable oils to minimize omega 6 and I take other supplements too. Some times I have vanilla burps. The enteric coating is suppose to last until it reaches the intestine. USP tests this and I feel it is safe. I am striving for better health that goes all the way through."

Simple and easy

"This is perfect because you get all the fish oil you need for the day on a non-smelly, easy to swallow pill. The vanilla coating is overpowering but helps. I don't smell the fish oil at all or taste any aftertastes of oil. Perfect pill for those wanting an easy daily fish oil pill!"

Great Product

"Having tried other brands, this one stands out. There is no after taste!! We all know that fish oil is good for you but in the past the taste it left in your mouth made the product literally difficult to swallow. That is never an issue here. Additionally the coating on the product puts the swallow issue further in the rear view mirror. Taking fish oil has never been easier!!"

Enteric coating not effective

Pros: health benefits of fish oil
Cons: coating not effective against fish burps, save some $ and buy the non-enteric coated version
"Not sure if it's a manufacturing modification, but the last two bottles I've used haven't been effective at preventing fish burps as others have mentioned lately. The first bottle I bought over a year ago was fine--pills felt firm. But the more recent bottles I've bought last week had a slight "give" when i squeezed them, which suggests to me that there has been a coating change. I hope these reviews reach those responsible for quality control at Costco. It's a good product after all, minus the burps that is."
