Great Value

Cons: protective tape
"I love my Trinity tool box! The construction is what I would get from a more expense brand: ball bearing slides, extended shelf slides, and lifts for the top lid. Trinity called me to make sure the order and shipping address was correct, and the shipping company called to make an appointment for delivery. The only negative comment is the protective tape which covers the shelves and box - it is on all the SS exterior and interior seams and takes some time removing."

Trinity 42

Pros: excellent value
Cons: availability is often limited
Model Number: Trinity Professional 41
"Excellent Stainless tool chest! Well made, with attention to detail. Solid drawers open and close smoothly without that cheap feel you get from other named brands. Compare this unit with other named brand units and you will understand the value here. Just be prepared to spend a we bit of time removing the protective plastic liner that keeps the tool chest flawless."

Excel 42" Tool Chest Combo is perfect for me

Pros: build quality, excel customer service, ample room
Model Number: 42" Excel Tool Chest
"I've had the unit for about 3 months now and still very happy with my decision. I ordered the 26" first and changed my mind after getting feed back from many that you should purchase as large a unit as your space and budget will allow. Luckily I was able cancel the order with Costco prior to the 26" unit shipped. The 42" unit offers just that much more storage, where I am not trying to cram everything I have into a few drawers. The purchase experience, the delivery, the "out of box experience" were all positive. Had one issue with a missing handle and rubber mat for the top storage tray. Excel's customer support team solved both those items quickly by sending me the missing items. If i had to do this again, I would buy the same unit and would recommend it to people considering a tool chest."

Shade Tree Mechanic

Pros: easy assembly
Cons: missing draw liners for top section, locksets were different between the top and bottom
Model Number: TRINITY 27" Stainless Steel Tool Chest
"I did not see any assembly flaws and all draws worked smoothly. SILA driver was great and unit delivered to the garage. His pallet jack provented him from moving pallet into the garage because of the epoxy floor. He helped remove the wood pallet and took it with him.
Minor shipping flaw as bottom unit had a puncture in box and further inspection showed a slight dent in bottom drawer. Not enough to refuse shipment. I mean, it is a tool chest and not living room furniture.
My only negative was the lockset were different between the top and bottom. A quick trip to my locksmith guy and for $20 I walked out with two quality matching units. He said the locksets were not good quality and the pins might st art giving me trouble in a year or two.

Great Decision

Model Number: Trinity 27 inch SS tool chest
"I am really pleased having purchased this tool chest. I comparison shopped, and nothing could beat this one. Excellent build and features. Easy to put together (handles and wheels). The covering is an excellent idea. The only issue I had was with the shipping company ...delivered it 3 days later than promised."

Great Purchase

"This chest is exactly as represented and just what I had hoped for. It is very sturdy, and I have confidence it will hold up to years of use. I looked at some other chests but did not feel they were very high quality.
The packaging on this is very good. The box is very secure in the packing boxes and on the pallet. I checked all the drawers and rivets and everything looked like it was in great condition.
The most difficult part of assembly is taking the protective film off the stainless steel.
I have the chest partially loaded now and have no problem moving it on the heavy duty casters.
Overall, this is a great chest and a good price. Thanks Costco for another quality product.

Worth it!!

Pros: shipping/handling included!
Model Number: Trinity 27" stainless steel tool chest
"I had done some shopping/comparing and I found this one online on sale. This is a very nice tool chest, The quality is very good. I like the action of the drawers which have an added feature that holds the drawers in the closed position when it is not locked. The drawers work better as more weight is added. My "complaint" is that the drawers are too big...some need dividers for better/easier tool separation/arrangement. Yeah, the protective film was a pain, but needed for shipping purposes. I highly recommend this purchase."

First Class Design & Quality

"I bought two of these Chests and they are truly excellent. Quality construction, quality finish, quality functionality.
The only niggle I had was the long time it takes (several hours per Chest) to strip off the protective covering. They cover every millimeter of the steel in a protective vinyl. It’s actually relatively easy to peel off, but some of the strips are tiny and it’s just very time consuming getting it all off. But as this guaranteed that the Chests themselves were in perfect condition, I can really hardly complain about this one-off chore.
First class product!"

Good toolbox for the money

Pros: good finish, excellent packaging, drawers have a keep closed feature
Cons: handles required drilling to fit
"This is a quality built product with a good configuration for a home shop. Pre-cut liners are nice. Had to drill out handles for top portion as they did not line up well Bottom was fine.
Shipping - we are rural and Fedex would not deliver so I had to pick up on a pallet.
Very well packaged. I thought it was the wrong color and then realized there was protective coating all over it."

Excellent, solid piece of hardware

Pros: solid construction, high quality materials
"This unit arrived quickly, was easy to assemble, and works as advertised. The drawers are designed to be tight when empty but smooth as butter when laden. The unit comes with rubber mats for each drawer, which helps to prevent items from rolling around.
I have only had this for a couple weeks, but I have high hopes at this point.

Off My Chest

Pros: see main review
Cons: see main review
"Between 3 and 4 stars.
THE GOOD: Decently made. Attractive. All drawers slide smoothly with light loads. Drawer liners included. Air springs keep lid up. Good value for the discounted price. Shipped well.
THE BAD: Some build flaws---center slides for split drawers misfit so drawers droop in middle. Some, but not all, drawer slides drag with heavier loads. Upper and lower chests not keyed alike. Locks are low quality. Several drawer top sides are like protruding blades (but blood wipes off cleanly from the SS finish). Grind these down before using. A few small dents and finish flaws. Shows fingerprints (SS polish helps reduce these). Protective film took 50 minutes to completely remove. With the wheels installed your short apprentice will have trouble looking into the top tray.

Great value

Pros: easy setup and looks great., huge capacity.
Cons: protective coating takes a long time to remove, different keys for top and bottom
"Couldn't resist giving this a try at the price. Delivery was quicker than I thought it would be. It was packaged well. Very easy setup. Drawers have a great feel, almost a "locking" sensation went closing. Each drawer has a liner (optional but I recommend). Great capacity - holds a lot of tools."

QUALITY steel

"I had been looking at this one and the bigger one. I didn't think I would have the space to fit the 41", so I opted for this 27", and it is much roomier than expected! Everything fits with room to spare. It is a great price compared to everything else out there, and trust me I have searched for a long time. The drawers slide really nicely, and pull out flush with the tool chest! For the price, this tool chest is amazing. Comes with pre-cut drawer liners which is great as well. I love it, you really just can't beat the price!"

Great Price; Poor Quality Control

Pros: heavy duty, rolls easily on supplied heavy casters, includes fitted mats
Cons: poor quality control and finish
"This tool chest is a great price, has plenty of space for the typical homeowner, and is quite a hefty bit of equipment. The steel is pretty heavy, the casters are plenty stout.
The problem is quality control. The drawers do not align. Rivets are missing or popped on the drawer sides. There are signs of tarnish/corrosion from overseas shipping; etc. Also the top lid will not stay down as the lift is stronger than the lid is heavy.
If he hadn't been so darn large and heavy, I would have returned it. However, it's a chest for someone with tools! At day's end my tinkering, riveting, and repairing have gotten this to the point of reasonable functionality."
