Lifetime Brighton 8' x 10' Side Entry Shed

Lifetime’s line of outdoor storage buildings combine quality materials with innovative design, offering a storage solution that maximizes storage potential, combined with superior value and the ability to withstand nature’s day-to-day abuse. Double-wall, steel-reinforced construction and heavy-duty steel roof trusses make the buildings structurally sound, so they won’t buckle during storms, or dent during everyday use. Weather-sealed seams help keep out water, and wood-grain molding, a simulated shingled roof and natural color scheme create an aesthetically pleasing addition to the yard or garden. Our sheds are made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), a plastic that won’t degenerate, leading to costly maintenance. Since they are made without wood, termites aren’t attracted to Lifetime buildings, and screened vents allow for airflow while keeping out rodents that could otherwise destroy belongings. UV-protection, along with stain and mildew-resistance, make the buildings easy to maintain, while a sturdy floor and a generous amount of headroom promotes versatility. Without having to crouch down to enter or move around, the space can be used to stack boxes, park a riding lawn-mower, or even as a garden planting room. Built-in shelving keeps tools and supplies tidy, shatter-proof windows that open and lock and multiple skylights create a fresh and pleasant atmosphere.   Sturdy, steel-reinforced construction     Steel-reinforced, dent-resistant, double-wall, high-density plastic panels           High-arched, steel-reinforced double doors (2 Sets - Front & Side) 4’ 8” W x 6’ 4” H Door opening w/full-length galvanized steel hinge pins   Multiple entries for easy access          6’ 8” Head-room & spacious walk-around interior   Steel Trusses provide additional roof strength       Shatter proof windows highlight front entry way   Rear window opens half-way for increased ventilation   4 Small high-impact plastic skylights for natural light    1 Large high-impact plastic skylight for natural light    2 Peg Strips (16") with Metal Tool Hooks         Customizable shelving & storage system            1 Shelf: 90” W x 9” D   4 Corner Shelves – 9.5” Radius   UV-Protected to prevent fading & cracking High-Density plastic floor     Attractive Appearance and Design          Low Maintenance     Expandable up to 15' Deep with Extension Kits (Item #134470)           10-Year Warranty Model: 60001 / Lifetime

Solid shed

Pros: great size skylights windows and solid built.
Cons: instructions and screw bags labeling (or lack of)
"As advertised a great shed plenty of room and the skylights are awesome. Took me, by myself, 1 day to put it together. Before doing anything, go to Lifetimes' website and download the latest instructions, this will save you a lot of time and headache. Second tip, the 2 shorter door polls are for the 10' side and the 2 longer polls are for the front 8' side. I found when working with the doors place them so you are facing the back of the doors, as if you were on the inside of the shed, then it becomes clear which door goes where. With notch is for the 10's side and without notch are for 8' side. Else as everyone here mentioned, have a solid flat surface before you begin."

Solid Shed

Pros: solid and seems very sturdy
Cons: 1 side window was to large for opening, instructions for using shims not effective, some parts bags not labeled
Model Number: 283391
"One full day to assemble with a neighbor who had experience putting a similar shed together the prior week, one full day to build a raised platform in which I used 2x6's instead of 2x4's, thanks to all the reviews who mentioned pay attention when assembling the doors as this can be confusing, first day after installation we had very high and gusty winds and the shed did not budge at all, it is very well built in my opinion, not sure how water tight it is yet but I will find out this week, at the very end of the instructions it tells you how to use the shims provided to even up the doors if one is higher than the other, the platform i built is completely level and both sets of doors one door was about 1/4 inch higher than the other and the solution given in the instructions would only have worked if I used a ton of shims, I found it better to place the shim slightly to the outside of the lower door under the flooring and it worked perfectly and I only used one shim for each door, now they are perfectly aligned on both sides, also I found the latch at the bottom of the doors that go into the floor were barely catching and one door the door could actually open in slightly so I placed a shim directly under the flooring where the 2 doors come together and it worked like a charm, as in all the reviews make sure you have a level surface, lots of patience and a second set of hands, oh and final thing I found to be effective when putting in the walls is in addition to using the piece of wood a large flat end screwdriver or even crowbar would work is leave the block of wood under the first tab, after you get it snapped in leave the wood there, then take the screwdriver or crowbar and move to the next tab and pry up, this goes much quicker and they snap in much easier, using just the wood per tab and you will struggle for sure."

Brighton 8' x 10' Side Entry Shed

Pros: the shed looks really nice.
Cons: window holes didn't line up w/holes in wall
"It took me about 16 hours (just me) to put the shed together. My "helpers" were a roll of duct tape and a 2/4 about 4 feet long.
The shed wasn't difficult to put together (I read the instruction twice and also read all the reviews listed here to find out what other problems could arise).
At one point in the instructions it said to have someone put pressure on the outer wall where two wall pieces join together and that would allow screwing the two pieces together easier (What I did was wedge a 2/4 up under the outside wall shingle and then in the dirt, so that with a little pressure it would keep the two ends together, so I could put the screws in on the inside (worked great).
At another point in the instructions it said that I would need 2 additional people to hold the metal roof trusses in place, so I could secure the plastic roof pieces over them (What I did was apply a couple of strips of duct tape to the ends of the metal trusses where they connect with the wall (it worked great and they hardly moved at all -- I love duct tape)
I also used the duct tape to keep the doors closed and together, so I could put the surrounding parts together. Pretty much anywhere I needed a second pair of hands I used my duct tape to keep the parts in place.

8x10 Shed with side entry

Pros: seems very sturdy and well built, surprised by directions, lots of extra screws nuts bolts etc...
Cons: plastic floors can get punctured so becareful
"This shed Rocks. Just take your time and go step by step. Great instructions and separate parts bags. You can do it by yourself but it makes it easier if you have help doing the doors and roof. Make sure your ground is level as can be and do not strip your screws, it is plastic. I would definitely by this brand again. Drill with a clutch works well. Just set your setting correctly so you do not strip your shed"

Nice Shed - roomy and "cute"!

Model Number: Brighton 8x10 Side Entry Garden Shed
"We received the shipment just 8 days after purchase! My husband and I were able to assemble it in one day (with an extra set of hands to hold things at times and I should note that we already had an existing level concrete pad to use). I had read all the reviews prior to purchasing and can completely understand why people have a hard time with the 2 sets of doors. The instructions sometimes confuse the "front" of the shed. When putting up the walls, the short side is considered the front; when putting on the doors, the long side is considered the front. That is the only confusion we had in assembling it. The only complaint I had was the cost went up $100 between the time I investigated and the time we bought it (within a couple months). But so far we love it! Looks like a kids playhouse and we will love the little-to-no maintenance on it!!!"

Solid Construction but

Pros: solid
Cons: parts bag not labelled
"I read the all previous reviews (about 8 hrs to put together, watch side and front door lengths/notches, etc). Here is my experience and what I did. 1. Level ground. I didn't have level ground so rented a rotatiller from local dealer $55 and leveled ground. Used 8 4X4 and 2.5 sheets of 3/4" plywood to make the level base to build it (3-4hrs). They recommend other ways in instructions also. When we open the box only a few parts are labelled but NONE of the parts bags were labelled correctly at all (annoying). Instructions said to get part AQZ and all our parts bags started with B--. NOTE: When installing the flooring make sure the holes for the doors post on far apart like directions say. We missed that for the front doors and had to take down half shed to flip the floor panel so door bushing slide into its hole. After the flooring, then you have to install the wall panels. It doesn't really say how to do it if you are planning on flipping the door from the right side (pictured in instructions) to left side. Anyway, you need to start at diagonal end of shed and go from there but that took some extra time to figure out. The window skylights took a little bit longer because the butyl tape they supply was misconformed in the packaging from the weight of other parts on top of it and the heat. It took us 1.5 hrs just to do skylight seals. After the skylights everything went pretty smoothly. The shed is very nice and pretty waterproof. I might add some weather stripping to the doors. Just make sure you ground is level can't emphasize that enough. Overall probably took us a good 20-22 hours from renting rotatiller to end so plan on that. Reviews said 8 hours or so. I would buy again. Second time I could probably put up in 3 hours after leveling the ground now that I know what to do. Good luck."

Reviews saved us!

Pros: strong, water-tight
Cons: assembly is complicated, reading reviews is a must!
Model Number: 8X10 , double-entry Model
"My husband and I put this shed together in one and half days. Laying out and going through all the parts with the list was a big help. Follow the directions exactly. We read the reviews ahead of time and again during assembly. A reviewer's tip about the doors saved us from that pitfall (pay attention to the little notches at the top corners) but we had a problem with the wall panels that was really confusing. When following those directions, the picture indicates that the front is the10ft side...Wrong! It is the 8ft side. Pay attention to this when you are installing the 'Front Left' and 'Back Right' panels. Again a reviewer's tip during that second reading of the reviews saved us. If done correctly the entire thing goes together very nicely. Strong and water-tight so far. With strong winds and heavy rains where we live...that's saying something!"

Nice Shed!

Pros: well manufactured., good instructions.
Cons: all that cardboard to cut up and recycle
Model Number: Item # 283391
"This is a well manufactured shed engineered to close tolerances. Took my wife and me two days and a 12 pack to finish the job - didn't rush it at all. The key to making this project a success is to follow the first direction given in the instructions - "follow these instruction in the exact order given". These folks did their homework on putting this shed together. Follow all the directions closely and in order and don't, I repeat don't, forget to read all the helpful hints - these are often the keys to success. This was hard for me because I never follow instructions. It helped! And start with a level solid base or the shed will never come together in the last steps because of the close tolerances involved (fractions of an inch).
Went through 3 days of pouring rain - dry as a bone.
The only down side to this shed is that my granddaughters like it so much they think it's their playhouse. Guess I'll be buying another one....

Good quality, sturdy.

"It took me & my Dad a day and a half. My husband did not want to deal with it after reading the previous reviews so I bought it anyway and put it together with my Dad when hobby was out of town. We took our time, spread out all the pieces, read the instructions, which by the way COULD BE BETTER. We had to redo one of the doors. Being patient and not letting the frustration to get the best of you is the key. We are all happy with the result, including my husband."

Great Shed

Pros: price durability and stability
Cons: instructions could be better, amount of time to install
"After reading the other reviews, I thought I could put this shed up in less then 8 hours. It took almost exactly 8 hours. The issues the other users brought up are valid, and special attention should be paid to them. The notch in the doors is the biggest concern. I was fully aware of the issue and it still got us! The only difference in the doors is one set of doors has a longer metal pole then the other set. The door with the longer pole in it goes on the 8' side and not the 10' side. The instructions don't tell you anything about the notches untill you go to put up the second door. There are several steps to do between putting up the first door and the second door. So, you have a 50/50 change of getting it right. Anyway, there are a lot of parts to this shed. It comes in two very large and heavy boxes. I recommend opening both boxes and setting everything out....where you can find them and then don't get in a hurry. The shed does come together very nice and it is sturdy and water proof. I love the shed, and I would recommend it, I do think the instructions could be better. Overall, very nice for the price!"

Excellent Product

Pros: great looking, great value
Cons: assembly instructions - minor
"I bought this item because it was one of the best looking shed I've seen, and the price at Costco was several hundred dollars less than other on-line places. Assembly was relatively straight-forward, I agree with another reviewer to pay close attention to the doors - even though they're labeled the same part #, they're different (notch vs no notch), I initially installed the wrong door and had to disasemble to switch doors, wasted about 1/2 hour. Also, instructions for the corner wall panels could be better, it states to place panel # xxxxx into Front Left Corner, but the actual panel # xxxxx is labeled "Back Left Corner" - so be careful in this step - wasted 1/2 hour figuring this out. Overall, I would definitely recommend this shed. It is very stable with the steel reinforcements and it stayed dry in the rain. Best of all, once the hard work to put together is done (took me and a friend 8 hours to assemble), it looks pretty good in my backyard."

Nightmare

Cons: poor quality control, poor customer service
"The foundation instructions requires building a wood platform which was not specified ahead of time. Instructions were not good for a stable foundation leaving gaps, so once the vinyl floor was laid it caved down in areas. Parts were not aligning correctly. We called the manufacture 3 times to get assistance without success . Finally an installation person admitted their error. The parts were mislabeled as were the instructions in the manual for that edition of the shed. Very few parts were labeled at all. The manufacture stated they would have someone pick up the shed but I had to go through Costco first. Costco return desk stated we would have to take the shed to our local Costco store. The shed is extremely heavy and came in two huge 4x12 ft boxes. Only after I stated I would have to rent a truck and bring in the numerous parts without the boxes, did Costco put me in touch with someone who had brains to worked this out with the manufacture. This product is not worth the money, frustration or time."

Solid Shed, Good Value, Good looking

Model Number: 283391
"This shed is a good value, and assembly is generally straightforward. It is well made, has lots of space, and is bright and dry inside. Very solid when complete.
Key to getting this shed up is a solid, level base, and following the directions precisely and in order. The illustrations, especially for the doors, can be confusing. Finding the "notch" that differentiates the doors was not intuitive. Once completed the doors line up for a solid, weather proof seal, but I did need to go back and redo the latch assembly. The instructions for the doors are not as good as the remaining parts of the instructions. Set aside a full day for assembly, read the instructions over carefully ahead of time, lay parts out in order. I was able to assemble everything until the roof assembly alone, but after that it is a two person job. A good power screwdriver is a must. No great strength required.
Delivery was just as specified, 10 business days, without any problems.

Nice shed, assembly instructions need work

"We like the new shed. Door configuration makes for more flexible storage. We had the same problem with assembly as another reviewer-- The doors are different for front and side and easily confused. Be careful on this step, don't cut anything to fit. We had to back up several steps, uninstall the first set of doors, and reinstall them on the other side before continuing... The shed is dry."

Just what we expected

"We've been looking for a small shed to hold garden tools/mower that would not require a lot of maintenance. We saw this shed for $600 more at other sites. It shipped as expected in about 1 week. I followed the recommendation to make sure I had a level foundation for it. I can't emphasize enough how important this turned out to be. The shed fit exactly on the foundation as the instructions recommended that it be built. My wife and I put it together in about 8 hrs on a Saturday. The directions were very clear and the pieces well marked to make installation go smoothly. As long as you follow step by step, this should be a good purchase."

Not worth the Nightmares

Pros: once complete it is a nice shed
Cons: not worth the time - more than we need, directions and parts are not correct
"The directions are poor
The parts are not well marked
The doors were probably the most frustrating. There are four doors, while they are not marked differently there are differences - door length and one door pole that was really long - we ended up cutting it to fit. The door hardware was also unnessesarily complicated.
My husband and I put the shed together in about 1 day and 1/2. Who needs marriage counseling!

Nice Shed

"I recomend this Shed. not to bad to put together. Two peaple 1 full day to build, the instructions could be a little more detailed. stays Dry in the rain and looks great. You Must Have a Level Solid ground before you build this. I used 1' x 1' cement blocks with a 1\2 inch gap for air as the base. the extra door is not needed so we just lock it and keep it shut, but it is nice to have when moving stuff around. A Nice Buy!"

Very nice product

"It took the better part of 12 hours for 2 people and following the instructions step by step, but once it was completed, it is a very nice an attractive tool shed.
Don't be a hero and tear everything apart. Follow the steps and open when instructed. Most of the pictures were accurate, but some needed better angles. Using the wedges to push the walls down on the floormat help a bunch. The door handles stick a bit and will need some adjustments.
The only wrong thing that we did was mix up the doors. There are taller door pole for the front door than for the side and by the time we got to it in the instructions, most of the roof was already assembled and the doors were locken place. We had to unassemble and reverse the doors.
We went through a strong wind and rainstorm the other day and it stayed very dry. Nice.
