Very Disappointing

"This is a very cute dollhouse that we bought for our twin girls 3rd birthday. My husband thought that putting it together was not that terrible, it only took about 4-5 hours. Where our disappointment comes in is after we had it for less than a week the door fell apart on it, and more recently the little mail box has also fallen apart. The way that they constructed some of the parts on the house was very poor, with just alittle glue that didn't hold up. We have even taken time to seal it and put it on a concrete slab so it would not absorb moisture. We also called Kid Kraft to see if they would help with replacement of the broken parts and we were told that they wouldn't. The good thing about the house is that two kids can play easily in it, and that the main construction of the box of the house is seeming to be strong. It's just all the cute accessories that are built with poor attention to the details of it staying together. So even though it seems like a great deal, the deal isn't so great if it just falls apart on you."

Looked good for 1-2 months...then crumbled

Pros: looked good when brand new
Cons: poor construction
"We purchased this for a 3yr old and at first it was great. After being outdoors for only a couple of months the red roof quickly faded to a dark brown, the mailbox fell apart (as others have stated), and the biggest disappointment is the door litteraly fell apart (as other have said). It's as if the glue and assembly process is completely inadequate. After 4-5 months the house looked tired and dilappldated, and after 6-7 months we're trying to decide if we'll keep it or toss it out. This was not abused by a 3yr old girl, I assure you that. It was a major disappointment with the major problem simply poor construction---something we're not used to from Kid Kraft or from a Costco sold product.
It is iroinc that others have noticed and complained about the same exact poor quality/construction elements. I think if it had a floor or otherwise was raised up the wood would not be explosed to the wet ground which would help."

Great Chicken Coop!

Cons: need to paint roof, use waterproof sealant on wood
"Yes, you read right...we converted it to a chicken coop! We repainted the roof with red outdoor furniture paint (Krylon Fusion). Also we used Miracle Cover, an outdoor waterproof sealer on the wood. My hubby built a nesting box where the window with the curtain is and had to close in with wood the big open door area. Plus we had to do a few other things. It has been a fantastic coop for 6 chickens...we did build a huge run that attached to it...even made a little chicken door so they can come in and out. He caulked the heck out of the coop to keep it water tight and we built a wood floor.
I highly suggest to paint the roof with Krylon Fusion and use Miracle Cover on the playhouse. It will stay nice for years that way! We have had it for over 1 year now.

Great for the price, needs some weatherproofing

Pros: great price for a wood playhouse, adorable design, clear assembly
Cons: needs additional weatherproofing, needs to be on some type of platform
"I purchased this house for my 1 and 3 year olds and they just love it. The little sink and shelves are a big hit. We keep it up on our wood deck to provide a platform and to keep it out of standing water. The design is adorable and it is much more attractive than the plastic playhouses out there.
The assembly was fairly easy with the use of an electric drill. I could not imagine putting the thing together with an allen wrench!
I read reviews carefully before purchasing and I painted the roof components with Krylon Fusion for plastic (pepper red color) and the wood components with Miracle Cover sealer prior to assembly. Because of this weatherproofing the water just beads right up and does not soak up to warp the wood. The roof also stays bright red and can be touched up if needed."
