Great Product
Model Number:
V3825
"I purchased this as a replacement for an older V2490. I had no problems sealing or vacuuming and sealing. You can still seal chip bags and I don't have to look for the hose for use with canisters. It does much more automatically and takes up less storage space and counter space when in use."

Exceeded my expectations
Pros: easy to use attractive appliance
"I'll admit, I haven't owned a FoodSaver before, but I have been extremely happy with this machine. We've sealed a wide variety of food - fresh fish, crab cakes, wine, berries, meats, etc. This machine seems to do it all. I feel like I've embarked on a whole new world - good stuff."

The Worst Model Foodsaver ever,
Model Number:
V3235 f
"I retruned this foodsaver to Costco! Thanks Costco for treating your customers so well!!!!!
I've owned several Food savers until they wore out. The last 2 were the Prof II series. I bought the V3825 as it was advertised as the latest and greatest. Of all the Food savers I've own, this is the worst. Uses an inch extra at the seals, it does not seal other plastic bags like potato chip bags etc. It is difficult to reseal Foodsaver bags. Had I bought V3235 first, I would have never bought additional models!
I wished I had read the reviews and skipped this model. When a new model is released, it is suppose go forward in quality not backward like this model. I've spoke with Support at Foodsaver and they told me that the people who previously owned other models did not like this one and those who never owned one in the past were happy. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews"

A Must Have
Pros: ease of use, on-board bag roll Cons: uses slightly extra wrap
Model Number:
V3825
"I absolutely love this FoodSaver. Since it is summer and a lot of fresh veggies have been out, I have been doing some wonderful freezer dishes. Also, there are a lot of buys on meats by the bulk. The new FoodSaver has been a godsend. Much more reliable than my old one."

Not so Good
Model Number:

"Half the time the on button wouldn't turn on and then when it did come on its really hard for the sensor to detect the bags, so if you don't have it just right it won't work... I found it frustrating and want my old one back.... I would not recommend this to anyone..."

It's better... but different
Pros: vacuum capacity., sealing strip., cleanable Cons: it takes 2 steps to "make" a bag., noisey... but more powerful too.
Model Number:
V3825
"This is my 4th Foodsaver. The previous 3 were easy to use but all "died" because of sealing strip issues. My last one was a "Professional II" model which cost serious money. Imagine my angst when I called to arrange a repair to the sealing strip and was told that "it's not repairable".
My previous units were made by Tilla, and were very easy to use. I thought they were great. This unit is made by Sunbeam, and it's different. It requires more "participation" on the part of the user... but I think it's a better unit. After a few days of fighting the learning curve I have found that it has a superior sealing strip. It seals better, It has a more powerful vacuum capability and it's "smarter" than the other units I have owned.
Folks that don't like change will have a problem with this machine. I suspect that folks that never owned the Tilla versions will love it... as I do."

Not as good as the old one
Cons: poor design, unreliable
Model Number:
v3825
"It looks great, but that is the only good thing about it. I have had 3 Foodsaver sealers before and this it does not measure up. It does not vacuum the bag well. Each sealing process generally takes 2-3 attempts. My wife tried and had the same problem. The automatic features don't help. It causes you to use 15% bigger bags that the previous models. It is larger and more difficult to fit in a drawer. I don't care that it is stainless steel - I don't display it. BUY A DIFFERENT MODEL. FOODSAVERS WORK WELL, EXCEPT FOR THIS DESIGN."

Fancy Features But Slow
Pros: sleek and compact Cons: slow sealing features
"This is the fifth food saver I've bought and although the look is great and saves space in the kitchen, it's much slower at sealing than any of the others I've used. The slot for the bag edges is much more difficult to use and takes too much time. It also uses more bag material to seal the ends than the other models. Overall, I don't have the time to wait on this one."

Disappointed
"Love the smaller footprint, but that's about it. The sealing seam is much to wide, wasting bags, and the sensor doesn't work properly. It takes FOREVER to get it to seal. Some of the bags in the freezer lost their seal. Loved my original Foodsaver, hate this one!!!!!"

Light Years Ahead
Model Number:
Foodsaver 3825
"I purchased a Foodsaver 1050 from Costco about 7 years ago, and while it gave good service for a few years, for the past year or two the sealing wire has failed to work properly. I got tired of having to reseal packages repeatedly, and then only to find air had leaked back into the bags in the freezer.
So I got the 3825 unit at the local Costco, and so far it's been a vast improvement. The biggest improvement is that now the sealing is done by a flat band, that's about 3/16" wide, rather than a thin wire. This seems to help ensure proper sealing. I resealed stuff that I had previously sealed with the 1050, and which had leaked air in the freezer and the 3825 worked great.
I don't quite understand some of the negative reviews. I think if one reads and follows the instructions, unless the unit is defective, it should work great. Also I actually measured the amount of material used to seal a bag. The complaints claimed that it wastes 2"on each seal. Well, I measured it and it's really 1-1/4"for each seal. Bags I had sealed with the 1050 model needed about 7/8" of bag per seal. So yeah, it uses 3/8" more bag per seal, that I can certainly live with since it works so much better.
The bag cutter is a big plus, as well as the servo motor driven "jaws", and the removable moisture trays, the built in canister hose, the bag opener, the gentle/pulse/marinate functions.
Someone complained that it should be wall mountable. Well, if they'd read the instructions they'd have seen that since the unit needs to be opened where the top portion tilts backward, this wall mounting would be impossible.
Overall I'm very happy with this purchase. And it's just in time to start processing the fruits and veggies from the garden. The old 1050 unit may be fixable; I'll probably wind up donating it to charity. The 3825 is light years ahead of it."

Great machine
Pros: functionality, appearance, power Cons: none
Model Number:
V3825
"Very simple to use if you take a little time to follow the quick start guide. I love the hands free feature that allows you to do other stuff while the Foodsaver is doing its job. Yes, it's a little noisier than the old models because it's more powerful. The built in vacumn hose is wonderful. When my old machine finally died, after many years heavy use, I almost didn't upgrade to this new model because of the mixed reviews. Boy am I glad I went ahead and took the chance."

Good--but no Cigar
Pros: for mason jars -excellent, much tighter seals. Cons: use to much space to seal, a bit longer than the older model for vacuming
Model Number:
V-2825
"We have had these Food Savers since 2000- The last one died and we got this new one. Well some reviews are right. Like using to much bag space to seal. I am in process of figuring out how to trip the auto seal. The Rest of the vacuming is great-better than the old, especially on Jars."

Worth the learning curve
Pros: never waste food again Cons: noisy
Model Number:
V3825
"I've had foodsavers for 3 years; this is the best design to date. The counter space saver is good. Love the retractable cord and new canister designs, which work much better than the older setup. And the on/off button, which means you don't have to unplug it.
Yes, it takes a while to get the bags sealing properly, but once you learn how to jiggle them it works reliably and quickly. It IS noisy, for several seconds - sounds like it's getting ready for liftoff.
I use the canisters for croutons, coffee beans, crackers, and cookies etc. Excellent for all.
I hope this lasts, but the Costco return policy is the reason I bought it. Trying to work with the foodsaver company directly is a real pain."

Extremely Disappointing!!!
Cons: bag waster!!! and bags aren't cheap.
Model Number:
FoodSaver® V3840 Vacuum Sealer Kit
"The unit has a space saving design, which I thought would be nice. The bag storage and cutter are great, but I honestly think they designed this machine so you would have to purchase their bag rolls more often. When you are able to successfully seal the bag it takes 1.5 inches of wasted bag every time. If you are like me and you use it to keep cheese fresh or any other item that you would like to reseal you would be lucky to get a second sealing without running out of bag space. This is a bag wasting scam if you ask me. I DID RETURN THIS ITEM."

Awful design
Pros: takes up little counter space Cons: cumbersome functioning, auto feature is unreliable, not a real timesaver
Model Number:
V3825
"The V3825 is supposedly the top of the line. However, while it takes up less counter space, it is MUCH harder to use. The automatic bag sensor often doesn't work, so you have to try 3-5 times to feed a bag for sealing or vacuuming (2 different functions). I note also that the automatic sensor causes about 1 1/2" additonal wasted bag material per bag, over the other FoodSavermodels (v24x0)."

Returned Item
"I loved my original Food Saver and purchased this newest model as an upgrade. This updated Food Saver did NOT operate as it should. I used up an entire roll of bags with only two out of ten bags being sealed. I returned this item to Costco."

Wowser!
Pros: portion control!, waste not...want not!
Model Number:
V3800
"My Dad has an older model and I often enjoy helping him cut up huge pork loins or salmons into portions and sealing them. I decided that I just couldnt live without one and set off to my local Costco. I had a little trouble at first because the newer model I purchased had been simplified to the point that I kept trying to make it more difficult to use than it actually is. Soon I realized that the whole process now consists of pushing the button one time per item. I mean how hard is it to stick the bag in the slot and watch the machine do its job? My freezer is so neat and organized and I never have waste. When I defrost something it doesn't leak all over the fridge and my frozen foods always look so appetizing. I love this product!!"

Not as good as the previous model
"I purchased this after my previous Food Saver wore out. Most "new" models are supposed to be an improvement over the previous one. This is a step backward. First, it's very difficult to get the bag into the machine to start vacuuming. Second, the time it takes to vacuum and seal takes twice as long as the older model. When you're cooking, you have other things to do and you need an appliance to do its job quickly. This really slows down my work. I'm returning it for the older model."
