Nice

Model Number: Lifetime 54" in-ground basketball hoop
"Someone else mentioned the delay in shipping and that happened to me. The nuts do not fit the bolts so I had to go out and buy new ones. This a nice item for the money. I would say that you can not beat it for the money. Just another great thing from Costco."

Bad parts

Pros: decent price for comparable system, sturdy, nice large backboard
Cons: faulty pole by manufacturer
Model Number: 78888
"I haven't been able to complete my install. Did the pole in ground last week, and today just found out my top pole was defective. The manufacturer failed to drill a hole at the bottom of the top pole. I was crossing my fingers hoping I didn't get a wrong backboard like others (which I didn't), but I got a freaking defective pole. I think Lifetime needs to fire their QA department with all these issues. I think once I get the parts corrected it will be an awesome hoop, backboard looks good! Like others mentioned the nuts and bolts are a really tight fit, have a good socket set deep sockets will be helpfull. I felt like the paper alignment frame was a little cheap and wish the had a better way of ensuring the square pole was suare to your sports court."

Great unit for the price.

Pros: price, solid in ground
Cons: plastic cap on top tube, lack of lables on steel
"First off 5 stars to Costco customer service thanks you Teresa! My first system was damaged in shipment 3 miles from my house at the FedEx hub on a Tue. One phone call to cust. serv. had another unit on it's way. Delivered Friday....WOW all the way from UT, that's impressive! Assembly was a snap if your somewhat mech. inclined such as a primate from the zoo. I still could not figure out what the little tube of lube is for? The steel pieces were not labeled but not a big deal since common sense was prevailing. My only real complaint and reason for 4 stars was this....during assembly they have you put the plastic top cap on...then to assemble onto bot. tube in conc. they ask you to whack with hammer and 2x4????can not do such task with the plastic cap on, it will damage the cap. I took cap off which is supposed to get secured partly with big top bolt. so black duck tape is holding the cap on now. Instruct says 6-90lb. concrete....way too much, I used 6 80lbs. and went with a 24"x18"34"D hole due to frost/freeze here in NE Ohio. All said and done the unit is great solid alt. to portable system some of my friends had had destroyed in storms getting blown over. The Kids love it! I recommend."

DO NOT BUY. WRONG BACKBOARDS

Model Number: 348691
"Lifetime shipped Costco kits with the backboard. Lifetime knows there is a problem and doesn't really care.... Buy something else instead of waiting on hold for 30 minutes with Lifetime and waiting 2 weeks for the correct backboard."

Great system and install was not too difficult

Pros: price solid system looks great
Cons: some tight bolts time of shipping
"This is a really sturdy system and the install was not as difficult as many of the other hoops I had researched. The initial bottom pole installation in concrete was painless apart from the mixing by hand. I put together the upper goal in about 2.5 hours. Some of the nuts were very tight and required a lot of muscle but nothing too difficult. You will need a couple of people for the backboard assembly and final pole installation. Great, Great price on this system. Everything was in order in the packaging as well. It took a little longer to ship than promised but all in all nice job Costco."

Pros: sturdy, easy to raise & lower, looks great
Cons: assembly time?
Model Number: Lifetime 54" (78888)
"Two thumbs up from me. My sons absolutely love their new hoop. It was a little time consuming, but after installed was well worth it. Also, I recommend buying the 4" square sleeve from Lifetime.
I would definitely recommend this system. It is very sturdy, looks great and really easy to raise and lower. GREAT SYSTEM !!!

Great Product

Pros: solid well built system, easy to adjust the hight settings, great value
Model Number: 348691
"I have to admit, I was feeling a bit uneasy when I made this purchase. I did quite a bit of research on in-ground basketball systems. I actually got a Costco membership so that I could make this purchase. This hoop seemed to have pretty good reviews overall up until the last month when it seemed everyone was receiving the wrong backboard. I am assuming it was a packaging problem and they must have finally got it corrected. I received my hoop on April 30th, 2012. After getting the concrete set, we were playing on May 5th. All the correct parts were included and everything went together just fine. In some of the reviews, I noticed people complained of the nuts and bolts not fitting together properly. I found that the threads on the nuts and bolts were tight and were not necessarily easy to put together but I believe they were meant to fit together in that way so that they don't loosen over time. This hoop is a quality product at a great price. I am very happy with the purchase and my friend that helped finish the install is going to order one for himself."

Wrong Backboard

Model Number: 78888
"Seems this not the first - I had a very disappointed son when I got to the part where you attach the backboard. Lifetime operator said they hadn't heard of this problem but reviews say differently.
Check backboard first thing out of the box. I had all other parts but how can a company actually put wrong backboard in?
Reviews were good up to the day i ordered - shoudl be easy to determine who the problem was. I will revise review if new backboard comes in and system is as advertised but waiting days for such an important part is a major screw up."

poor quality control

"I would never recommend this product. The directions were very unclear and confusing. We had the wrong backboard size and it came with no brackets to mount the backboard. They need to also take off the "Made in USA" on the front of the box since everything inside the box says made in China. After many hours we still have no basketball hoop up and we are just very disappointed with the entire product."

Wrong Backboard

Cons: wrong backboard in box
Model Number: 78888
"We had the same problem as the earlier reviewer......WRONG BACKBOARD! We hired a couple guys to install this, so this problem ended up costing us more money since they now have to come out again to finish this project : ( Very frustrating!!! Hoping it's a nice system once we get the correct parts."

Wrong Backboard

Cons: wrong parts
Model Number: 78888
"Sounds like there is a quality problem at Lifetime. I also received the wrong backboard. Unfortunately I didn't realize it until most of the assembly was complete. Now I have to hope that they send the correct backboard in a timely manner."

Wrong pcs

"I know there are a lot of positive things being said about this product. The only thing I can say is before you start digging, take the time to go through the box and make sure all the CORRECT pcs are in the box.
I was sent the wrong backboard and rim assembly and now have to hope they send me what it need."

Great Hoop-Great Price

Pros: value...price at costco is 50% or better than most
"Finished the install last night and played under the lights. Very solid for a consumer system. Hardest part of the install was waiting 72hours for the concrete to cure! A couple of the steps could have been explained better, but the pictures and hardware identifier notes makes it easy to figure out. NOTE: It uses center lock nuts which will feel like they are binding...keep turning and you'll have a tight system."

Great Hoop

Pros: great price looks great
Cons: need some help with final assembly
"Great price. Was not very difficult to put together. You will need a second person during part of the assembly. The directions say you will need three adults and three ladders for the final assembly. This is very true. We did it with three adults and it went up very easily.
It is very sturdy and it really looks great. It took me about 3 hours to assemble on the ground and another 20 minutes to place the final poles and backboard on to the bottom post. You will need the 6 90lbs bags of concrete recommended in the directions."

great quality, but...

Pros: beautiful and high quality
Cons: some assembly challenging
"We purchased this recently and installed acording to instructions. I have to agree with some of the other reviews that it is VERY difficult to tighten most of the bolts. My husband at times had to use his full body weight to even move the wrench... another thing - Plan on having several adults available when completing the installation. You need the extra hands to stabilize (plus, you can play a bit of ball right away with the extra people! :) ) That being said, it is a very solid and good looking goal, We will be the envy of the neighborhood with this one. I also like that younger kids will be able to enjoy this as it is very easy to adjust the height."

Good In the End

Pros: sturdy system, great price, looks excellent, great company
Cons: delivery snags
Model Number: 78888
"Other reviews helpful on putting it together and planning. It is a heavy system and takes three people. Rent a pole digger to save time - worth the money. We had delivery problems, but Company was great to work with. This was a great price and we were glad we were with Costco and their warranty and return policy. Nothing beats it. Love the system now, it works for lots of High School Boys. Had this in place since October 2011."

Good Value

Pros: easy assembly
"This hoop is the best value I found. Me and my 15 and 12yr old boys put it together in 3 hrs with no problems. But I'm smarter than the averge guy- just ask my wife. No complaints so far. Very easy to lower and
raise- slamajama time-
