excellent purchase

"We ordered the Tropical Fruit Supply & the Chicken & Beef. Both freeze dried. The boxes arrived with no damage & after checking no damage to the contents. We haven't tried either one yet but have put them back for another day. That's the reason for the 3 stars."

Tired of reviewers who haven't tried the product!!

"I have been EATING these products for some time now, NOT just storing them. Yes they are great for emergencies. The friut is a constant on our countertop as it SAVES ME MONEY weekly on our grocery bill and I don't throw away spoiled fruit anymore. The kids choose these products over chips for the excellent flavor. Our all time favorite is the pineapple which is so tasty, a whole can may disappear in days! The pears, apricots and mangoes are excellent as well. Any of them can be rehydrated with an excellent result (and the kids love them in smoothies) but most of the time they disappear too quickly to rehydrate. Use on oatmeal, in yogurt (check out the yogurt recipe on the shelf reliance site using their instant milk--YUMMY), in cereals or JUST PLAIN! An opened can lasts months and retains the crispness. MUCH CHEAPER than throwing away unused fruit. Quit just storing it and learn how to integrate it into your everyday diet--you won't regret it!"

Be prepared

Pros: convenient affordable long shelf life, excellent packaging
"I purchased freeze dried tropical fruit to add to my emergency food and water supply. I have not tried this product but based my purchase on a positive recommendation. As we learn from the terrible disaster in Japan it is very important to be prepared especially if you live in an area where an event could prevent you from being able to shop for food and water. A variety of food is needed canned goods, dehydrated foods, MREs and of course water. Buying in bulk from Costco over a period of months has made it affordable and easier on my budget."

Tasty Fruit Selection ... YUMMY!

"I'm a chef ... a happy fat chef. I know good food, sampling all the time. But seriously, this product is high quality. I personally like it dry (the dry pineapple is so yummy and makes me feel slim). I've tried all of them and I can say this of all the varieties ... when constituted (add water/soak), they all tastes very fresh. Anyway, just my two cents, and no ... it doesn't help my waistline. I'm still fat ... but happily eating. Cheers!"

Emergency food

"Hard to review because we don't intend to use this for everyday. With all the weather changes & storms in our area it's best to be prepared & we can't predict just how bad the economy will get so it's better to be prepared than sorry.
We checked every can for dents before putting it back in the carton to store. Some cans in our order came dented even before packing. Costco is absolutely great at getting that taken care of.
Can't speak for the taste or use of the food.

Long term food storage

"I purchased the tropical fruit as an addition to a 1 year storage package I purchased a few months ago. While I have not opened any of the fruit, we have tried a few of the other products. The company, shelf reliance, replaced a few cans that shipped damaged with no problem. I have checked prices on similar items, and Costco's prices are really great. Everyone should be prepared for emergencies and this is a great addition to preparing for any type of disaster. Some people laugh at being this prepared but I feel that what can it hurt to have food just in case. Plus, this food can be used as every day additions."

Great for long term

"I bought this fruit supply for it's long term storage capability. It will be used for any emergency situations that come up. We also bought other emergency food supply products to ensure the capability to have a food supply in emergency situations. It really is a great product."

AWESOME Pineapple!!

Pros: can vacuum seal in mason jar after opening #10 can
Cons: none so far
"I bought this for long-term storage and for making smoothies. I eat the pineapple from the can. Has a similar mouth feel to popcorn, and it is addictive. Reconstitutes well, but hot water worked better for me than cold. This is a no-brainer for LTS and daily use. No more wasted fresh fruit for me!"

yummy

Cons: slightly dehydrating
"I read about the pineapple when I was pregnant, and had to try it. It answered all my cravings! I eat it dry, and can't get enough. I haven't tried anything else yet. My kids love it as well."

Enjoyed fruits expecially mandarin orange

Pros: love mandarin orange flavor & texture
Cons: pear is bland powder
"Enjoy all the fruits except pears which have little taste or texture. Largest pear piece in entire can was about 1/8 of inch. Mostly bland powder. Would purchase more if fruits could be purchased individually."
