Saeco Electric Water Kettle
The Electric Kettle from Saeco combines elegant design and technological innovation with all the traditional features of a standard water kettle. Not only does it rapidly boil 50 ounces of water conventionally, it can also heat water up to exact, preset temperatures and hold that temperature for up to two hours. The kettle can also perform a combination of these two functions. The advanced digital control panel, built right into the handle, displays the exact temperature of the water at all times. The kettle also features the new Color Changing Technology, a multi-color backlight within the carafe. As the temperature of the water increases, the carafe changes from an elegant blue shade to a bright red, so you always know what temperature the water is, even at a quick glance.

Excellent Product
Pros: removable from base for easy pouring, heats quickly
"I purchased this product at a Costco in Mexico City where I currently live. I have had it approximately 1 year and it is still going strong. I would highly recommend this product and don't think that the few negative reviews are reflective of the products overall quality. I agree that a product shouldn't die after it's first usage but I've had mine a little over a year with absolutely no problem and you can't beat the price!"

Saeco Electric Water Kettle
Pros: does exactly what it is supposed to.

"I bought this kettle to use primarily when I travel but I am going to be using it at home as well since I decided to do away with my electric coffee maker and start using a drip cone and insulated caraffe for making coffee. at this time I have no complaints about this kettle. It is doing everything that it is supposed to do and I would definetly recommend it."

Broke after 2 years
Pros: fast boil, keep hot thermostat a nice feature, reasonable price
Cons: broke at the base attachment point after 2 yrs

"The attachment point to the power base failed after about 2 years. I use this daily was hoping for a little longer use. For the price I really can't fault it much. Would be 5 star if it hadn't failed in 2 yrs."

Don't Bother
"I was excited about the features and a quality brand, but boy was I mistaken. The kettle broke (wouldn't power on) after my FIRST cycle. I dint even get to boil a second batch of water before it broke. Don't bother with this one. Quality and reliability is a major problem."

Good Product for Money
"I was looking for a reasonably priced, but quality, electric kettle. I believe I found it in this Saeco. It heats water quickly, and has the added feature of changing colors, which is just too pretty for words. So far, this product has performed well. I have owned it for about a month or less."

Great While it lasted
"We really liked this water kettle, unfortunately, the first one only lasted about a month, then the LED went haywire so we took it back got a refund and ordered another one. That one lasted about 6 months til one morning it just would not turn on. I called the manufacturer they said they would refund our purchase price. So I followed their instructions, followed up in about 6 weeks. They said they would sent us the rebate and in about 6 weeks, that was 5 months ago. We still haven't seen anything."

plastic taste contamination problem
"We bought the unit and were very pleased at first, liking the idea of bringing water to 200 degrees and leaving it at that temp through a couple of hours in the morning since that's only slightly above the "ideal" temp for making coffee. (We pour cup at a time thru a paper filter in a single cup filter holder, regular ground coffee.) So after about 5-6 such usages and satisfaction the coffee taste changed, and tasting just the water that had been held at an hour or more proved that a plastic taste was present in that hot, held water. Returned to local costco and a glass container based kettle now ordered from costco online instead."

"Teapot was great but only lasted about a year. I used it 1-2/day but at about 10 months it began not making good contact. I'd have to move the pot around on the base to get contact. Many times it would shut off before the desired temperature was reached and I'd have to adjust the pot on the base again. Frustrating. (The pot and contact points have always been clean so that's not the issue.) Now it's impossible to get it to make electrical contact so I'm in the market for another."

Stop Working While Cleaning

"The instructions state to boil water in the kettle 3 times before using it. I boiled water twice and it never started again. So I returned it. I was thinking of buying another but it looks like the manufacturer may have some issues they need to work out."

"This electric kettle works great as long as it works, but I've purchased three of these and they have all failed within a year. Two of them developed leaks, and electronics on the third quit working. As much as I like this product, I will not buy a fourth."

Terrific Buy
"This water kettle does an absolutely phenomenal job. I use it exclusively to brew loose leaf tea. Teas use different temperature water for brewing, depending on the type of tea. Using the digital readout, you can pour water anywhere from 1 - 212 degrees. I've had my kettle for about a year now and it has, and is, operating flawlessly. You fill the kettle, hit the button, and watch the kettle turn colors as the water heads up to boiling. The Digital readout is accurate, as the water starts boiling when it hits 212 degrees. I've also checked the digital readout against a thermometer and it's right on the money. I purchased another one this last Christmas for a friend of mine, and she is already in love with it. A super kettle at the right price!!"

"I've had three different kettles and this one was great for the price. Terrific features and price, but....it's the same problem with the kettles made of plastic and metal. They leak after a while, probably due to differing rate of material expansion/contraction. Mine started leaking to the point of needing a new one after about 2 years. 4 stars for when it worked best."

Facinating!

"I love this water Kettle. It heats water quickly. I use it to heat water for numerous things, for teas, for pastas, for rice or for anything where I need water to come to a boil. It saves time. Plus it is impressive how the color changes with the temperature change."
