This package comes with six different types of freeze-dried meats including ham, sausage, chicken, roast beef, turkey, and ground beef. All meats have been pre-cooked and require minimal preparation (just add water). Freeze-dried foods are superior to both frozen and dehydrated products because they can be stored at room temperature. However, by soaking your desired amount of meat in hot water for 5-10 minutes, it will reconstitute into its original form. Freeze-dried meats are shelf stable for 25 + years (when sealed). Not at all bad tasting!

Pros: tastes great reasonable price.
Cons: watch sodium if this is a health concern.
Model Number: 467564
"Just opened and "cooked" some dehydrated sausage and dehydrated eggs this morning. Perhaps a bit salty so no need to season. I added a bit of pepper and it tastes great! In a "blind taste test" you may be able to tell difference due to texture as sausage isn't "greasy like "regular" sausage...but we will incorporate this into our pantry rotation. MUCH better tasting than other products out there."

Disappointed

Pros: arrived quickly
Cons: damaged
"This order came quickly and the boxes appeared in perfect condition. However, upon opening the boxes, three of the cans were severely damaged. It is pretty clear that they were packaged into the boxes already damaged. Poor quality control. Order wil be returned."

Good value

Pros: durable packaging (#10 can), stackable shipping boxes, good taste and texture, long term storage
"I opened a can of chicken to try and find that both texture and flavor are good enough that somebody wouldn't know it had been freeze-dried unless you told them. The #10 metal Cans are a good size, and the boxes that they arrived in are perfect for storage. Make sure you have a can opener that doesn't cut the top rim off like most of the newer ones do, or the plastic lid supplied with each can won't fit tight."

GO WITH THIS STUFF OVER TVP!

Pros: good shelf life, smaller cans are easyier to store, real meat not tvp veggie stuff, all chopped ready for soups or sandwiches
Cons: more pricey but still worth it.
"This is actual meat, that is why the cost is more compaired to the TVP stuff.
I like the variety mix. The smaller cans compaired to the large buckets are easyier to store. Good shelf life."

Partially Great Product

Model Number: Shelf Reliance Thrive
"I really like the REAL chicken, no added flavors. I like the ground beef for tacos, etc. I am disappointed in the fact that the turkey and ham are ONLY good for two weeks after opening. I would not buy this 6 can combo pack again. I couldn't possibly eat a #10 can in two weeks."

"This is a great addition to our food storage.
We haven't tried the meat yet, but know others who have and they say it is great. We bought it to store for emergencies."

Great purchase

Pros: long term storage, condensed packaging
"Arrived on time and undamaged. This is a great long term food supply. COSTCO's price (especially when you consider shipping is included in the price) beat anything I found anywhere else.
Haven't tried the foods yet, saving it for a worse time!"

Pictures are a bit misleading.

Pros: great price fast shipping.
Cons: misleading advertisement and product description.
"The pictures of sliced ham and roast beef are pretty misleading. Although I have not reconstituted any of the meats....they all have a miniscule picture of the chopped/minced size of the meat on the can that you cant see until you buy it. The display really shouldnt show the meat as it does when in fact its actually little tiny chunks that can pretty much only be used in casseroles and such. Ground beef, yes I expected ground product....I didnt expect the ham and roast beef to be chopped so small. That being said. I am still happy...maybe it was ridiculous of me to think you could get sliced meats like the display shows but I did. The product arrived in just a couple of days, is still a GREAT value for emergency storage. I just wish the pictures and description had indicated everything was chopped in such tiny pieces."

Very well packed

Pros: best price for 6 meats
"Arrived in three days. The packing was the best I've received for any #10 cans. Each can was separated by a cardboard separator -- all cans arrived in perfect shape. Going into long-term storage, so I cannot comment on the quality of the food."

Great Value and Variety

Pros: great variety, cornerstone of solid food bank at home
"Great variety, I have four of these packs stored for any natural or unnatural disaster (24 cans). I could not stomach the taste of the TVP products that serve as the protein portion in the cheaper large food storage packages, I will probably just feed the few TVP cans that we have to our dog. These freeze dried meats offer the palatable solution at a greatly discounted price, at approximately 33% off retail.
I found it easy to locate starches in cheap large pails and vegetables are also relatively inexpensive, especially if not freeze dried. Protein is the missing link. Costco shipping is included in the price and the cans arrived quickly and in great shape.
Water in sufficient quantity is my next challenge. When the big earthquake hits Los Angeles, I'll be prepared to stick it out and guard my home from looters, who will rampage through homes left unattended, as in New Orleans after Katrina struck."

Great food storage for diabetics

Pros: lightweight storage
"Since diabetes keeps me on a low-carb diet, I've been looking for a way to store meats long term. This does the trick!
I'm very happy with the variety, taste, and consistency of the product."

"A Port in a Storm"

"I remain convinced that the worst is yet to come. As such, I have purchased this "Thrive" package as well as the 1 Year Supply of "Thrive" previously. If things do go badly, I will be prepared to feed my family for an extended period of time. Haven't tasted the food yet, but others that have written reviews have indicated very positive responses to it. The 25 year shelf life is also a great advantage. Product is stackable and stores conveniently. Will be purchasing even more of "Thrive's" products."

A great investment

Pros: good price - free shipping - costco's gaurantee
"Food Prices are rising... Not only is Thrive a good investment as a "food insurance" for scenarios where food is unavailable but it is also tomorrow's food at today's prices. Storing food is the responsible thing to do.
I have purchased the one year supply and added a case of vegetables and one of Deluxe Meats. The shelf life is so long that rotation is not as critical as with regular store canned foods. Since these are not prepared meals, I have the flexibility to make many different dishes as I would with fresh foods. Plus, I have the peace of mind knowing that I will not go hungry in an emergency. I would even have enough to share with neighbors. In this crazy world and economy even our food supply is not dependable. I wish Costco would carry more of the Thrive product line and even carry it in their stores."

Meals in minutes

"I'm on a dried food kick lately. I've tried the ground beef, ham, chicken and turkey and have no doubt the crumbled sausage and roast beef will be just as good as the other 4 items. Highly recommend this product for every day use. Would be great item to have on a camping trip or at a summer home. No one will know this is freeze dried or dehydrated meat. Wish this product was sold in the warehouse. Only semi- con is the winter wheat and the product they call TVP (soy based). The TVP is a hard sell to the family but you can sneak it in to some foods like soup and meatballs/meatloaf. Needs to be mixed with real meat in my opinion. The wheat is not ready to use without a mill. The wheat cannot be chopped up in a food processor. I have the mill on order and I hope I don't have to ship the wheat back if I cannot get good flour results (they give a recipe for winter white stew which is disgusting). I cannot see any other use for this product unless you can make flour. . I've purchased the vegetables (very good especially the potato chunks and peas, the corn and broccoli are fragile and have quite a bit of powder in the can but can be used for soup). The verdict is still out on the butter powder and the egg powder. I can see making an omlet or using it in baked products but not scrambled eggs. The butter powder was used in a casserole and I can see it being used to make a creamed soup. The picture on the can makes it look like you can make a solid butter. Maybe it needs to be whipped. There are no instructions on the can other than add the prescribed water. It is liquid butter. I love the dried peppers and dried tomato powder that I ordered from Shelf Reliance. Wonderful items to have in the pantry. Like the quick delivery by Costco though. The company is not as quick and I have received damaged cans but they were very good about replacing them."

Yummm

Pros: convenient
"So far we have tried the chicken and the Ham, both were good.
I made a Chicken salad and it was delish! The ham I added to a pot of beans, and am looking forward to using it in other dishes! To me it is just a new adventure in my cooking...

The chicken is good

Pros: lean meat, great long term protein source
"I have tried the freeze dried chicken reconstituted with celery and onion to make a chicken salad and it was really good. It is white chicken chopped very small/fine. At least it seems to be white meat only. It had the consistency of canned chicken when it was brought back to "life". But if I didn't know it had been freeze dried I wouldn't have guessed. It did not have a canned flavor at all. One cup rehydrated went a long way for my family."
