Cheap Plastic

Pros: seems air tight
Cons: all plastic, not fireproof, not wraterproof, cheap unsecure latch
"This safe is a heavy plastic hunk of junk. the latch is plastic and could be smashed easily with a hammer. It is not fully fireproof (if set on its side as the literature states), and is only water proof up to 1 hour submerged and the literature recommends that you put items in separate waterproof bag inside. Um, what is the point? It is not secure against theft, fire or flood, I cannot detect any metal on this thing, it is all plastic. In a fire this thing might even melt/entomb items inside! Save your money. I will be returning mine."

I bought one for myself too!

Pros: sturdy, good size for documents, good size for jewelry
Cons: the pop up opening may be a challenge at first
"My 88 year old cousin needed a safe for her important documents so I ordered one for her-took a chance on this one being nice and affordable. When the item arrived and we opened it, I had to get one too! It is wonderful, sturdy, functions easily, and I highly recommend it."

Moisture Concerns

"After storing some papers in this safe, I noticed that they were getting damp. I called First Alert/Honeywell and they offered two solutions. First, open the box and air it out for an hour or two a couple of times a week. Second, they sent me a handful of moisture-removing packets to place in the box. (Just one at a time works well.)"

Not quite big enough

Pros: nice design, water-tight
Cons: smaller interior dimensions than advertised
Model Number: 2017F
"The product seems solid, with a nice locking mechanism and good seal. However, 8.5x11 papers do not lay flat. The dimensions are just less than 8.5" inside so that each additional paper curls just a bit more.
I was looking for a safe place to keep some documents in the office and this item wasn't effective for me.
