Behind the times

Pros: variety of activities
Cons: outdated graphics and interface.
"A bit pricey for the features and activities. Graphics seem about 10 years behind the times. Our children don't seem to mind the lacking graphics, but they get frustrated with the unintuitive interface very easily. We get more out of simple iPod apps than this software."

75$ Per year subscription required!!!

Model Number: Pre-school-2nd Grade
"I purchased this software so my son could use the computer without having to pay for additional programs online. After he completed the first level, a membership is required to continue to use the software. $75 per year or $7.99 per month! NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY!! I was very annoyed and returned the entire set that I bought."

Great Purchase and Reasonable

Pros: excellent value
"We bought this for our grand-daughter's 2nd birthday. She has worked her way through most of it. Even some of the Typing CD. We have decided to buy the Kindergarten program for her 3rd birthday, and her father thought she could start using it."

We were fooled!

Cons: tricks child into wanting more, end up needing to pay online if you want more game
"This game is awful! It seems great at first - for a few months our 3.5 year old would play a couple of times a week for 20-30 minutes... she eventually got through all activities and is ready to "move up" to something more challenging (like the game shows). It turns out you CAN'T!! You have to go online, play the online game, and buy the membership if you want to go anywhere with that. DUMB.
The other CD's included aren't great, either... the languages one is okay, we've done it a few times. The typing one is an old version game and not fun or useful. The Art for Fun game is all about stuff to print out, which we don't do because we can buy a coloring book for the dollar store if that's what we wanted.
I'm really disappointed with this product and would not recommend it to anyone!

OK to buy

Pros: very engrossing
Cons: can't tear them away
"Best discipline tool ever. Threat of taking it away works wonders, way better than TV."

It's not bad

"The programs are pretty good my girls like playing the games. I don't give it 5 stars because the disk must be in the CDrom drive for several of the titles."

Great Program

Pros: many activities, keeps her attention
Cons: can't really think of any
"We have a computer that our 5 year old granddaughter uses. We tried a Jump Start Animal Adventure that we bought at Costco almost a year ago and once our granddaughter learned the menus, she can now load and play without our help for hours.
This Jump Start Preschool is no different and although we have had only for a short time, our granddaughter can now load and play by herself for the most part. We have only used 1 or 2 discs of the 4 so far as we like her to master the menu and onscreen items before moving on.
As far as lasting in the way of being too bored, etc..., she, like other kids this age have a short attention span and this program as well ad the other Jump Start program keeps her attention for a good 1.5 hours (unless alot is going on around her) and she will take a break and go back to it."

"Keeps my three year old's interest. The main con on Jumpstart products is they require the disk to be in the cd/dvd drive to access the program."

a super program

Model Number: Jump Start Preschool and Kindergarten
"As a former primary school teacher, I found the program engaging for my Granddaughter to want to pursue. The skills are fun for the child at the same time they strategize concepts."

Allow enough time for the install

"Patience...the first disc installation for me was awful. I had to call Jumpstart to get it up and running. The screen size was off, my computer was blocking it from updating, etc. It is working great now & the kids love it. I purchased the Kinder, 1st & 2nd grades too. Installing the next grade level was a breeze & we had it up and running in minutes instead of an hour like the 1st disc."
