Keurig Brewing System

Model Number: Keurig® Platinum B70
"The first one we bought as others said, began brewing half sized cups after just over 1 week. Then at 2 weeks, it completely lost its ability to pull water from the tank and became a large paper weight. Even if it is a matter of cleaning it (vinegar, etc.), we only had it for 2 weeks! Not acceptable. :( Since it's Costco, we will give it another shot. If it happens again, it goes back for good!"

Prime issues after less than 3 weeks

Pros: easy to make a cup of coffee
Cons: too much maintenance for a brand new item
Model Number: B70
"The unit was purchased the weekend of Feb 18, 2012. All went well until a couple of weeks later - March 4th, 2012, I believe. We experience what Keurig calls a 'priming' issue. We have the unit set to turn on at 6:00am. After making one cup of coffee, the blue lights on the reservoir begin flashing and the LCD screen shows a PRIME error. If we remove the water tank and replace it, the error goes away. I phoned Keurig and they directed me to a 'Priming your K-Cup System' video. I followed the instructions on this video and this did not solve the issue. In doing some internet searches, it seems like this is a very common issue for Keurig. And there seems to be no real solution. We only use filtered water in this unit. Having to perform this 'priming' maintenance when the machine is less than 3 weeks old is not what I wanted to experience. We are planning to return the unit and try another. But internet reports on this indicate we may not be any more successful with a replacement unit."

Smells like chemicals

Pros: costco's return policy
Cons: smells and tastes like chemicals.
Model Number: B70
"After rinsing, using vinegar, baking soda and rinsing some more the smell is unacceptable and concerning. Hoping it will be checked out for safety. Returning and buying a good old fashioned stainless steel percolator. Very disappointed as I had another Keurig that only lasted 10 months but at least it didn't have a toxic smell."

Unreliable and quit altogether after 18 months

Pros: no mess
Cons: unreliable, very expensive cup of coffee
Model Number: B70
"Started out fine, although K-Cups are a horrendously expensive way of buying coffee. After 6 months it starting to sit and buzz instead of brewing requiring it to be unplugged and plugged in again before it would brew. Now it''s quit altogether."

Great, but it won't last.

Pros: convenient, easy to use
Cons: maintenance, reliability, cost
Model Number: Platinum B70
"The machine is great until it breaks... and it will break (after a warranty and Costco will do anything about it). It is an appliance that needs maintenance and it just not worth the purchase price. I just bought a Mr. Coffee (standard coffeemaker) for barely anything and as Consumer Reports suggests, performs better. Single serve is a great concept, but the machines don't last. I learned my lesson to look more closely at the reviews."

Worst Purchase Ever

Model Number: Platinum B70
"I read all the negative reviews and chose to ignore them - bad mistake! Never mind that this does not make gourmet coffee, it doesn't work either. Firstly, it was complicated to do the initial setup. I used tap water to clean out the system for first time use and couldn't get that taste out of the coffee wasting gallons of filtered water trying. I finally got it working and was impressed with one brand of coffee. I didn't like the majority of flavors so the rest were just a waste. After a couple of weeks I started getting a "Prime" warning after every cup. This means taking off the reservoir and replacing it, but good luck finding that in the instructions! It will not brew with that warning showing. Now it dispenses about a 1/2" in the bottom of the cup when it's programmed to give a full cup. So you have to go through the whole process again to finally get enough to make a cup, convenience going out the window. Unfortunately the coffee is just tepid but OK if you happen to have a microwave handy. I would give this zero stars but the Rating system wouldn't allow it. This is the single worst product I have ever had the misfortune to buy."

Not worth buying - Poor quality.

Pros: none
Cons: quit working after a few months
Model Number: B70
"This is the 2nd Keurig unit I have purchased and both stopped working within a few months. I should have learned from my first experience. Friends have asked me about my Keurig but I have refer them to buy another brand."

Waste of money

Pros: convenience
Cons: too expensive, flavour not that great, glitches once and awhile, my k cup a pain ita, waste of money
"Bought this machine at Costco in Eugene, OR, about 7 months ago, and immediately had problems with the "taste" of the coffee. Tried about 30 different brands and could not replicate the drip taste, so this machine is going back. It is fine if you want the convenience but it works out to about $0.60 a cup using the cups, on sale of course!
The My-K cup is a nice feature, if you only want one cup, but trying to clean it out and repack it with ground coffee, forget it! It takes the same amount of time to brew a regular pot of drip coffee.
Don't waste your money just for the convenience...not worth it in the long run!"

dont waste your money

Pros: none
Cons: the whole thing
Model Number: all keurig branded machines
"i have personally seen my family and my business go through 7 of these! they all break. do not buy. right now, here at the office and another family member are using the cuisinart version. that is much quieter and faster than any "keurig" branded machine. my family member has had theirs for over 6 months! WOW! cant say that about the branded ones. oh and they dont keep time correctly. so they turn on and off at random times.
dont waste your time and money.

kurieg b70

Model Number: B-70
"Ok here's the deal, I have returned 3 of these to Costco in the past 40 day's, I bought it for a Christmas gift but it kept going to Prime function. Costco took all of them back, no problem, even let me keep the coffee. I decided to look up reviews online for this machine, should have done that in the first place. I called Kurieg and they blamed it on a bad shipment to Costco, almost felt like they knew about this problem all the time, I mean they shiped an older machine called it by the same modle # added free coffee and a filter to the deal and even took off $10.00 at Costco, but all the Costco machines were defected, so before I could even start yelling at them, they said we will mail you out a newer model same # B-70 and asked me to mail them back a small part and told me to toss the maching away. The new machine came and it is upgraded and works perfectly. But they want me to pay for shipping to send back the part, I don't think that will happen, but the new machine does work fine, it even sends 4 streams of coffee down into the cup instead of one, big improvement right there. All in all, call them and have a new machine sent out to you, your on your own with paying for shipping for the part they want back..."

Not worth buying

Cons: the pump on this unit fails prematurely
Model Number: B70 Platinum
"I purchased this unit on 12/1/2011, gave it to my wife on 12/25/2011 and it has been in service from that time until today 1/31/2012 brewing 1-2 cups per day using filtered water. The machine is now failing with priming/pump errors and will have to be returned.
We attempted the de-scaling process as indicated in the manual but this has not corrected the problem.
A coffee maker of this caliber should operate for more than 6 weeks."

OneloveSAF

Pros: quick, convenient, variety, perfect for 1 or 2 people, nice for at work too
Cons: not built to last, breaks on you, expensive
"I LOVE my Keurig coffee maker, BUT... as the other reviewers, mine has a mind of it's own. Worked great at first. Now, sometimes we have to keep trying and it has taken 15-60 mins to make a cup of coffee. Maybe it is in the process of dying. They do need to make a better machine, and I will be trying out the Cruisineart Keurig once I can afford it. It lasted long enough where I do not have a warranty. Now I get to spend the money all over again."

Junk

Pros: looks nice.
Cons: breaks right on time.
Model Number: Platinum B70
"Easy to use. However, I was warned not to buy this machine. I should have listened!
It seems these machines like those certain "floor robots" all have a predetermined life span???

Poor Manufacturing

Pros: make a great cup of coffee when it works
Cons: pump quits working
Model Number: B70 - Platinum Edition
"So far I have had 3 units and all the same problem, the pump quits working. If it was not for the excellent return policy with Costco I would not have keep trying.
So I am heading back today to return number 3.
I am going to try a Cuisinart k-cup machine.

Died two weeks after warranty expired.

"Great concept, the machine is very convenient and makes good coffee. However, it died right on schedule, four weeks after the warranty expired. There are numerous reports of this happening on the internet. Buyer beware!"

Poor Quality - Have returned 3

Pros: k-cups convienience, stylish quiet
Cons: poor construction, works then .... fffttt
Model Number: B70 - Platinum Edition
"First the positive: it's pretty, it's quiet, it's convenient. I like the whole k-cup idea.
Now the negative: it's poorly made. There's a design flaw that you the consumer get to find.
I orininaly purchased one of these things for my daughter 2 Christmases ago, her machine is chugging' along with no complaints. This convinced me to buy one and I have had nothing but problems. In fact I have gone through 3 of these things. I used bottled water, not tap, kept it spotless.
In my experience, each machine worked fine for a few weeks and then the dreaded "prime" error pops up. The "prime" error requires removal and reinsertion of the water resivoir multiple times to get it to brew. The error arises when the pump can't draw water from the resivoir into the internal heating unit. You can hear the pump spinning, and you can hear water moving WHEN it moves - and you can tell when it isn't.
This could be due to cavitation, a crimp in the plumbing, faulty impeller design, bad seal, poor logic in the processor ... Regardless, it is a well documented issue and needs to be fixed by the manufacturer.
The clerk at the return desk acknowledged that Costco has been flooded with returns of these machines.
Will all machines see this problem? Probably not. But Keurig is not reimbursing me for my time and trouble sorting through their rejects.
Ultimately, I bought a Cuisinart k-cup machine. It's a bit more expensive, but so far so good on that device."

What A Let Down

Pros: so many choices of coffee
Cons: disappointing, cold coffee
Model Number: B70
"I was sooo happy to get this product for Christmas, couple weeks later I very very bummed. What a let down!! I love different types of coffee, thought it would work fanatstic for me, but sadly no. Noticed right away that all the coffee tastes funny. Figured it was odd that there was different mug options with only one pre-measured portion and it is. Plus, the coffee is just to cold. It should stay at least somewhat hot, even to warm, for a few minutes after brewing and it doesn't. Way over hyped product!"

Pump problems

Model Number: Platinum B70
"I purchased my Keurig ignoring all of the warnings from other reviewers about pump failures. I have had mine for about a month and am receiving the prime warning after every cup. The water container is attached properly and I use filtered water. I love the machine but hate the problems that come with it. Mine is going back."

Not For Me, Either

Pros: k-cup variety styling convenience
Cons: failed after 1mo & 3 days.
Model Number: Platinum B70 Value Pack
"I thought about and reviewed this product extensively prior to purchasing. Because its been on the market a while, I reasoned all the bugs were worked out, and issues resolved. After looking at Breville, Cuisine Art and Nestle (?), I took the Keurig model home 11/28/2011 as an early Xmas gift for myself; I did as other reviewers suggested: poked a hole in the K-cup prior to brewing, used bottled and/or filtered H20 only, and removed the spent K-cup immediately after brewing. I LOVE the convenience of brewing one cup at a time, virtually no clean up, slick styling, cool blue light and variety of the K-cups available. Alas, it failed twice per day from 12/30 to 01/01/2012. So, back it went to Costco today. It was nice while it lasted, but wasn't meant to be. For $163 + change, I'm not willing to trouble shoot the unit or endure the inconvenience of dealing with Customer Service and/or having a replacement shipped to me from Keurig (or Costco). I will stick to my Hamilton Beach Brewmaster for now. At least it hasn't failed me once in 1 year. Bottom line: I am very thankful Costco has a reasonable return policy."
