Very happy with this product

Pros: price
"I am very happy with this formula. I use it to supplement for my son who is now 9 months old. After reading reviews I was concerned about foam, but that has never been an issue for us."

Foam is avoidable - great product

Pros: value size of can no gas issues
Cons: none so far
"I breastfeed my twin boys, but have had to supplement from Day 3. This formula is wonderful. The boys accept it, and never spit up. The biggest selling point for us is the cost. Even supplementing, formula prices add up and this has been wonderful. Definitely comparible to Enfamil, which our boys were on before we made the switch. We also tried Similac and it caused projectile spit up. For the reviewers mentioning foam issues - foam is caused by shaking the bottle. Stir your formula and you will not have any issues. We personally use the Dr. Brown's formula jug which mixes the formula for you and have had NO issues with foam or gas, but a spoon or fork will do."

Works for us :)

Pros: the price., my son has no trouble with this brand.
Cons: read below about shipping.
"I was of the school of thought that you had to buy expensive formula to give your baby the best nutrition; thankfully this has been fine for our son. One thing I wanted to mention for internet orderers: try not to buy too many cans at once as cans tend to arrive crushed and opened. On the other hand, supply does run out on line so be sure to have a surplus if you're only way to buy is online."

Baby propellant

Pros: baby gained weight, cheap
Cons: foam foam foam--- baby propellant
"One word- FOAM. I agree with most of the reviews that complain about the foam. We've gone through a few cans now and our baby has become an uncomfortable little toot machine. This morning I literally thought it was my husband... Seriously, the foam is a major issue for us. Our baby did gain good weight on the formula, it was just havoc on her tummy. Today we purchased some Enfamil Gentlease and just to compare, the Enfamil formed only a few bubbles and by the time I got it to baby, there was no foam, and no bubbles. Sorry Costco, this one is a thumbs down for us."

Excellent and

Pros: excellent and reasonably priced
"I fed my first born son this formula after it occurred to me to compare this to Similac and the ingredients and vitamin contents are very close to identical.
I just wish upon the stars that Costco will soon have Soy-Based Infant Formula as well, Kirkland brand of course. My second baby is allergic to ‘regular’ formula."

Bubbles

Pros: price
Cons: bubbles
"It seems that the reviews here are mostly positive and my 4 month old has had no problems with the formula yet. But he ain't picky! However, I do notice that if SHAKEN this formula does create many more bubbles than the equivalent Enfamil milk-based formula. I've always swirled the bottle when I make the formula so it's not a problem for me. But my wife typically shook the bottle which I've told her NOT to do but now she knows why. By swirling or stirring to lessen the bubbles you should have less air/burping/discomfort. Makes sense I would think. TIP: swirl after each scoop, tapping on the counter to spread out the formula over the water. This way you don't end up with big clumps of formula. Can you tell I've been making protein shakes most of my life? Bubble make us all uncomfortable."

Great product

Pros: great value and great product
Cons: has more bubbles (means louder burps :))
"Once our baby daughter was about 1 month and we ran out of all the free formula from the hosp, family, and friends, we looked for good value but high quality. compared to enfamil and simulac and they are virtually the same but way less expensive. this is the only one we use for powder. she loves it and we love it. thanks Costco."

Good stuff!

"I read over a hundred reviews about this formula before trying it. My son was on Similac, but it was getting too expensive. After my research and our experience, I believe this formula is basically Similac. My son took to it easily and has had zero problems. Plus the doctor said my son is right on track with growth and development, so the formula is doing its job."

Excellent and definitely comparable

Pros: cost-savings - much more for much less!, comparable ingredients to leading name brands
Cons: foam - but not a concern anymore
"My daughter is about 3 months now, and had a severe tummy problem since birth. She was on Similac to begin with, and then we switched her to Similac Soy but with no noticeable changes. I read about Kirkland's formula but was hesitant to try it because of the issue with so much foam. I asked our pediatrician if it was ok and he said it was fine to try and see if she would take to it. And I have not regretted it since! She took well to the formula, and hasn't complained because of the foam at all. I have some tips to help with the foam:
- A simple way to get rid of most of the foam is to mix the formula in a separate bottle and then use a tea strainer when pouring the formula into the feeding bottle. I use Medela milk storage bottles to mix the formula, warm the formula in a Dr. Brown's bottle warmer for about 2 mins, and then using a strainer, pour the formula into Dr. Brown's bottles to feed my little one. 9/10ths of the foam is left in the Medela bottle.
- If you are supplementing Vitamin D using a dropper, you could try spreading it over the day's feedings. A few drops added to the formula, and it reduces the foam by quite a bit. No need to use gas drops all the time.
Hope this helps some of you out there!

Same as name brand

"A friend of mine works for a company that makes formula. She told me that the Kirkland brand is exactly the same as the name brand formula. The only difference is the label."

Add drops of breast milk to take foaming away!

Pros: price
Cons: foam
"My husband and I decided to try out this formula, since the price was so much better than other formulas. My 3 months old was on Enfamil and stillis is on Enfamil AR at night time due to acid reflux. She loves the Costco formula aqnd I noticed less spit ups. As said by another parent, adding a few drops of breast milk does take the foamin away! She seems to "eat" a bit more of this but I believe is due to a growth spur!"

Definitely not for babies with gas

Pros: cheap
Cons: cause very bad gas pain
"We read the reviews before purchasing this formula. Most of the reviews are positive, so we ignore those bad ones. After we tried it, it was not for my baby. The formula has tons of bubbles/foam, my little guy suffers after each feeding and wakes up with pain at night. It is a good buy (price wise), but to save few dollars and give my baby gas pain, it is definitely not worth it. NOT RECOMMENDED."

kirkland infant formula

"No issues with this formula. Comparing it to similac an the others, it is the same if not better, meaning higher concentration in some vitamins. Our ped. dr said that the sales person told him similac makes the kirkland formula so we tried it and our twins love it.
Yes its foamy so to rid of foam, I just pour into another bottle and the foam usually stays with the original bottle on the inside."

Great value!!!!

Pros: great price
Cons: bubbles/foam
"I've been feeding my 9 month old son similac and was concerned about switching over to different product fearing he may not take to it well. To me all the formulas smell terrible so don't expect anything different but he seems to not mind the flavor or smell. Yes it is more bubbly but I take the bottle out of his mouth when it looks like he's at the foam."

good for after a few months old

Pros: price, pediatrician approves
Cons: sensitive babies don't like
"I purchased this product after my dr. told me it was fine to use as secondary since my baby is not satiated with nursing. baby was about 2 wks old when started using this and it was fine, he liked it. at 3 wks he started crying a lot and we have a hard time burping him. dr. said we should switch formula until his stomach gets settled because he is too small. I'm hoping I can switch back soon because I really like that I can save money on this one and it has the same benefits as the other brands, according to my kids' pediatrician."

Great Bang for your Buck

"We purchased this formula three days after we came home with our daughter. She had tolerated the Enfamil Newborn well and after discussing it with her doctor we were reassured that this formula would be just as nutritional as any other for a much lower cost. We did notice that it gets a little foamy if you shake it too much but as previous posters have said a few drops of infant gas drops to each bottle and we have had no problems with our daughter digesting it or having gas. I would also recommend buying it in store as it was a few dollars a can cheaper."

Great deal if your baby tolerates the formula

Pros: price
Cons: baby has an allergy to it
"I bought this 3 pack of formula so I wouldn't have to drive 30 minutes to the nearest discount store to get formula. I also get my diapers and wipes through Costco, order them online, and they're shipped right to my house...which is so convenient! So, I was excited to see Costco had a formula cheaper than the discount store formula. Sadly though, we had to discontinue use halfway through the first can because my son did not tolerate the formula well. It upset his tummy and gave him a bad diaper rash (which he has never had before and he's almost 10 months!). The good thing though is that Costco customer service is awesome. I contacted them to ask how I could return the two unopened cans. They said to return it to the nearest store. The nearest one is 60 miles away so I told them that and asked if I could return it by mail, which they're accommodating! So, if your baby tolerates the Costco formula, it's a great deal. Sadly, mine did not :("

Great price and easy fix for any foaming

Pros: price
Cons: foam may bother some parents
"The Kirkland Signature infant formula is a great value for the price. My wife and I used this formula to supplement her breastfeeding of our baby.
Our baby has had no issues with using this formula, but each baby is different
We discovered if you add a few drops of breast milk to the formula all the foam bubbles break down quickly. It seems the breast milk breaks the surface tension/film that creates the bubble when you mix the formula in a bottle. And it also prevents the foaming bubble in the bottle that are created during feeding. I just add a few drops of breast milk before feeding.
If you are making a large batch of formula, look at the Dr Brown's mixing pitcher - its stirring paddle doesn't make a lot of foam when you stir it at a slow-moderate rate making it easy to pour the right amount of formula in each bottle."

Awesome price, great product

"My daughter was on Similac advance organic, and when I saw the Kirkland brand , I decided to give it a try. Same nutrients, half price....and my daughter likes it. About the foam, it does not bother me at all, and it does not bother my baby either."
