Powerful Generator

Pros: easy to assemble, very powerful, long running, comes with oil, battery already charged
Cons: a little on the loud side while running
Model Number: GP7500E
"Item arrived in less than 2 weeks. The delivery guy was great and rolled the box right into my garage. The generator came with the handle and wheels to assemble along with oil to get up and running. It took only about 20 minutes to assemble the whole generator. Once I added oil and gas, the generator fired right up with no hesitation! Connected to my home transfer switch, the generator can run just about everything in my house except the central A/C. Overall I'm happy with my purchase and with the security of knowing I can return it to my local Costco (if i had to) is great. I'm now ready (electrically) for hurricane season."

Great portable back-up generator

Model Number: GP7500E
"I, too, bought this generator in response to a long term loss of power during Hurricane Irene. After spending so much money for a couple of days on dry ice for the refrigerator/freezer, I realized I could spend the same money on gasoline for a generator and have the additional benefit of lights and television, and not to mention being ready for future power losses.
The generator was very easy to set up and it started right up with its electric starter. I ran the refrigerator, television, numerous lights, and the washing machine. It has enough power to run the critical circuits in the house and I plan to have an Auto-transfer switch installed in the near future. With some judicious planning, I think I can even start/run the smaller of the two air conditioners serving our house for short periods of time.
Complaints (so to speak) - I wish it came with a ground wire for use. For safety reasons, the NEC requires the generator to be properly grounded but I imagine many people ignore this because they are only running the generator for a "short" time. Including a ground wire could serve to place extra emphasis on the safety requirement.
Also, I wish Generac was more helpful with information regarding sheltering the generator during operations in inclement weather, and information on noise abatement. I imagine it is mainly due to legal liability concerns, but there are some responsible grown-ups out here using the generator.

Saved me from Irene

Model Number: GP7500E
"Everybody thought I was a bit extreme when I bought this generator about 2 months back. Then Irene arrived. I had ordered a transfer switch at the same time. On Friday, expecting the storm, I finally got around getting the transfer switch installed and filling the generator with oil and a quick test. Started right away. A bit loud, but I don't have much to compare it with. At midnight on Saturday, the storm hit bad, and we lost power. My sump pits immediately started to fill up. I just ran, started the Generac, started right away, let it warm up for a few minutes, and connected it to the transfer switch. As I put some load, switching fuses one by one, I could hear the engine adjusting. It kept running until almost Monday, when we got power back. The sump pumps kept us from getting flooded. Overall, really happy!"

Back up power

Pros: priceproductease
Cons: delivery
Model Number: 7500E
"I am really happy with the product, it is everything promised. I am though diappointed with delivery. My item was transported from generac to the shippers warehouse an 1 1/2 hours from my residence. It sat there for two weeks before the delivery was scheduled. Unaccpetable in my mind! Costco needs to rethink renewing this contract. Otherwise love the item and Costco"
