Great fan

"We've had this fan for 18 months. IT was a great addition. Whisper quiet, well balanced fan. Great price and easy to get from Costco.com. We LOVE this fan!"

great styling, fair quality

Pros: usual contemporary style
Cons: motor housing just fair quality
Model Number: Litex 52" Charlize Ceiling Fan
"Fits well with clean and eclectic room furnishings. The fan blades are of a good quality with both lighter and darker walnut finishes and motor cover looks good but made of thin metal and housing may be a bit hard to keep clean with its open surrounding grill.
This is my first three blade fan; it cuts the air with more sound then the other ceiling fans I have in the house, most having five blades.
I have noticed a sound coming from the housing in the middle setting that I am not comfortable with but others in the house don't mind it. DIY installation instruction was easy to follow and fan was installed in less then one hour ( this was a replacement fixture).

Good fan, not amazing

Pros: affordable quiet pretty
Cons: no lock on ball joint fan details hard to find
Model Number: LH52BNK3L
"Fan Details Not Included on Webpage:
CFM (high): 5314
Watts Used (on high): 60.9
CFM/Watt: 87
Downrod Length: 6"
I installed this fan using the included directions. They are quite good and I cannot complain too much about them. Fan installation was smooth, not too many extra parts but I did take a decent amount of time to get it all set up and looking pretty (1.5 hours, 2 hours if you include replacing the outlet box with one suitable for ceiling fans). The fan quality seems high, the motor is whisper quiet and the blades seem matched well enough.
One of my concerns was how far down this fan would hang, I was installing it in a location with 8 ft ceilings and more than 12" would be an issue. To cope with this I shortened the downrod, I did not physically cut the downrod, I simply slide it up higher into the ball joint and drilled a new 1/4" hole at the desired location. Overall I shortened the downrod about 2" (I didn't measure and it is now installed, but this should be close). The fan currently hangs with the blades precisely 10" from the ceiling. I do not think it is wise to mount it any closer to the ceiling than this.
My biggest complaint with the fan probably gives rise to my second complaint, and if I did it again I would consider drilling and tapping hole in the mounting bracket. The ball joint that connects the fan motor to the ceiling bracket does not have a set screw to lock the ball in place preserving your fan at level. This means that any time someone pulls the cord the fan can be jostled to a different angle, which is very frustrating yet quick to remedy. I am going to see about modification to fix this problem, I just don't have the energy right now and I don't see why this wasn't done at the factory (If I somehow got this wrong I will update my review, I will be looking at it again).
The second complaint is that straight out of the box, completely installed and carefully tightened it has a small wobble. Perhaps this is me being OCD and just hating anything that isn't perfect, but it definitely has a very small wobble that is more noticeable with the light kit I installed than without it.
As a last note light kit installation is easy enough, the wires and attaching them is straightforward. I went with a brushed nickel 3 bulb style and it looks good.
Conclusions:
The fan is of mid grade quality overall, definitely better than competing fans at this price point. There are a few small things with regards to balancing the fan that knock a star off of its rating. I do not plan on purchasing the fan again (I have one more bedroom that needs a fan) but it is not because I dislike this fan, I just don't like it enough to buy two. It is one of the better priced fans for a non traditional five blade style and moves enough air to be comfortable in my small 12' x 12' room. You be the judge, and good luck installing your fan. If anyone is wondering you can do the entire process as one person, it does not necessitate an assistant but perhaps my time would have been significantly cut down without trips down the ladder to find things.

Second times a charm

Model Number: Litex Charlize
"The first one i installed was DOA. The hassle involved in having to take it down, refund/replace it, and install a second one is the only reason this excellent fan did not merit a five star rating."

Cons: no light kit
"Great looking fan, perfect with my aircraft modeled decor, however it would have been nicer if there was a light kit to match. Still looking...Easy install with basic wiring skills. The fan is perfectly balanced mounted on my ceiling. Would have been 5 star if it had a light kit."

classy, substantial, SILENT

Pros: perfect
"Despite the faux wood paddles, these are incredibly classy. They make NO NOISE. I have 4 on my downstairs floor and the only thing you can hear is the air moving. I've never heard the air moving due to a fan before. It's almost eerie. Substantial, great design, versatile, really really pleased."
