I'm Happy

Pros: easy set up
Cons: adding the photo remote for iphone
Model Number: WDBACG0020HCH-NESN
"I've had my WD My Book Live for two weeks. I love it's ease of use. The photo part had changed, had a problem setting that up, but other than that it works great. Purchase this and feel safe about your PC files."

NO SUPPORT

Cons: no manufacturer support at all.
"Before purcasing any Western Digital product I offer the following directly from WD.
"Thank you for contacting Western Digital Customer Service and Support. My name is Ralph B.
Unfortunately, WD does not sell, repair, or offer information on replacement components for our hard drives. If you wish to retrieve the data from your defective drive, the drive would need to be sent to a data recovery agency. There they can attempt to extract your drive's data."
I will never again trust data to a WD product when this is their answer on a two year old COSTCO purchase.

Does it's job well

"This MyBook unit has worked well for me for the last two years that I've owned it. I also run several servers with a total of 22 WD consumer-grade HDDs, and have suffered only one HDD failure in 8 years from WD. I have had Seagate HDDs fail on me far more often. Good luck for me so far with WD and Samsung HDDs over the long-term. Keep in mind that most people do not bother writing HDD reviews if they have had no problems. Which is why there are so many negative reviews of hard drives, all over the web."

9 months and working great

Pros: reliable, fast, good value
Model Number: 2TB My Book Live
"I actually own this model (WD 2TB My Book Live), I'm not trying to write a review based on my opinion of WD hard drives as others have done. Also, I did not buy from CostCo, since it wasn't available originally. I bought this NAS right when it came out and have been using it constantly for 9+ months now with no problems. Connection to my network was easy, transfer rates seems good, but I haven't tested them to see what actual speeds are. I connect to my NAS through my xbox and 2 laptops simultaneously and the performance has always been flawless. I based my purchase on initial reviews at CNet and the fact that this NAS works perfectly for my needs."

poor build quality and warranty

"beware of WD hard drives for the consumer...they are cheap, have short warranties and fail about the time the warranty's up. I wouldn't buy one again if my data depended on it. Network drives are great. WD drives used to be but aren't."
