"My wife and I first came across Vitamix in 1969 or so when I was going to graduate school. It was sold for $60 then if I remember correctly. That would have an impossible purchase on a graduate assistant's income! Fast forward 40+ years and finally purchased something we were impressed with!!
We have now used it for about three months and are extremely pleased with this Vitamix. We have used both the wet and the dry blender jars. For healthy, vegetarian cooking this is a must have versatile kitchen tool. We use it for of course smoothies and soups but also Indian chutneys of different kinds and dosa batter, etc., etc. In smoothies it gives an easy way to significantly enhance nutritional value by adding super vegetables in their best -- raw -- form. The dry grinder we have used for grinding wheat and spelt as well as dry spices.. It does a great job."

The best!
"I have been researching and contemplating on buying a Vitamix for some time. I thought, 'could a blender really be THAT good'? and was it worth the hefty price tag? Yes, yes and yes! It IS that good and it IS worth every penny. I just received mine a few days ago and I have already made a lot of smoothies in it. The smoothies have all been perfectly blended and smooth. If it's possible to be in love with a blender, then I am! This thing rocks. I am excited to try it on grains for my own flours, to make soups this winter and experiment with smoothies. It's also actually fun to clean! because there really isn't anything you have to do but add water and a tad of soap. I don't think it's as quiet as some reviewers stated but it's definitely not as loud as my old standard blender. This thing crushes and pulverizes everything like crazy and works like a charm! So listen to the 5 star reviews, and get one! It's totally worth it! Only thing I wish is, Costco carried it in red!"

Great Machine

"This is a really great machine. I had the Blendtech - and returned it because it couldn't handle frozen smoothies. This machine has NO problem with them, and I am finding I like using this machine much more. It's quieter, seems more powerful, and blends the mixture much more smoothly. I bought the 6300 at the demo - but I have used the 5200 and it is also a great machine."

Pros: investment vs longevity (great price point)

"I first witnessed a Vita-Mix demo at an Exposition some 30+ years ago when the container had the spout for the hot liquid. I felt then that it was merely an expensive toy. How I ever changed my opinion! We recently purchased the 6300 at a Club, and it has become an integral and essential 'member' of our kitchen. The timed settings for smoothies, frozen products, and soups are incredible. "Set it and forget it". I make 'Slaw' and other great items in seconds, and have since retired my expensive Food Processor. I will never slice my fingers again. Cleanup is virtually hands free."

Beats the competitions pants off!
Pros: quiet, tons of power, really good pitcher and lid attachment, built like a tank

"I'm not in the habit of making negative remarks about another product while writing a review but I did have the Blendtech for almost a year when I finally returned it because of the noise and the second replacement pitcher that was discharging some ugly burnt grease form the bearings. So when I say the Vitamix is far superior I speak from experience with both.
I picked up the Vitamix when I returned the Blendtech and the first thing I noticed is how quiet it is in comparison. No joke the Blendtech is like a 747 taking off in the kitchen no matter what speed you have it on. The Vitamix in contrast does get loud but not even close and when I first turned it on it happened to be on the low setting and my daughter and I had to do a double take to make sure it was on. The motor of the Vitamix seems far superior, don't be fooled by the difference in horsepower claim of Blendtech, it's a marketing gimmick if you ask me. The Vitamix will crush nuts into butter where the Blendtech had issues and struggled. I also don't get the flat sided blades on the Blendtech? What the heck is that all about? The Vitamix pitcher is made better, it's heavier and has far better handle and lid attachment. The blade has more of an actual cutting surface that really helps and frankly just makes sense. As far as the issue I had with the Blendtech just compare them both side by side and you'll see what I'm talking about. I am now a huge fan of Vitamix."

Great blender
Pros: powerful grinds everything fast

"I bought this blender about a month ago. I've used it two to three times a day, every day! It's fantastic. My only major issue is the design of the carafe and the way it fits on the motor. It's very loose and not secure at all. If you move the blender at all while it's blending, the carafe can come right off. It happened to me once. I can't for the life of me figure out why they would make it so unstable. Otherwise, it's fabulous. Grinds everything!"

"This package was such a deal - best price to get both the wet and dry containers included. The wet container makes my raw smoothies in a snap - everything is instantly liquefied. The dry container pulverizes nuts to make flour. Hands down, one of the best purchases of my life!"

Pros: perfect size clean up is easy great way to live

THIRD AND LAST ONE!!
Pros: looks decent
Cons: overheats weak motor when making thick drinks, can't handle frozen items, should have a reverse function, lid does not seal tightly

"I started out with the 5100. If you try to make thick drinks, with frozen food or ice, it bogs down and shuts off unlike the industrial version you see at restaurants/bars etc, which reverse instead of overheating and shutting off. I use the machine on average, twice a week to make healthy drinks, using frozen fruit/veggies and lots of liquid. After having my 5100 serviced THREE times by vitamix, because it would overheat and shut off, I took it back to Costco and bought the 5200. The first one was as bad as the 5100 and it was returned after several months. The current 5200, I've had over a year, and it's shut of plenty of times, which causes you to have to wait for approx 20 minutes for it to reset. NOW, the unit just makes a faint humming noise and does NOTHING! I'm finished with vitamix.
Also, if it get near to full, the lid does NOT seal tightly and stuff splatters/spits EVERYWHERE!..."

"I'm pretty picky and I think this is a great machine! So far I've just made smoothies but I'm very pleased with the performance and the ease of clean-up! Make sure you take the time to watch the DVD - and treat this baby with care and it will most probably give you many good years of service. I also went to a demonstration at a Costco to watch and ask questions. They were doing the demo on a different model but it was still a very useful learning tool for me to actually watch how they used it. And Made in USA - amazing to find this in this day and age! Can't get any better than this!"

"Picked up new Vitamix 6300 at a Costco demo. The cost was same as this super package but it doesn't come with the dry container and you get only one cookbook.
With the 6300, updates have been made. You have three preset options: hot soups, smoothies, and ice treats. Also by buying at the Costco demo, you have option of color (rather than just black).
Having the option of making ice treats is really great. You take the same fruit you would have as a smoothie, but by adding the extra ice, the drink becomes much more filling and satisfying!
Extra bonus was when I went on to the Vitamix to register my machine. Vitamix allowed me to select bonus gift from the following: extend warranty additional three years (to 10); extra cook book; or $150 dry container for $50. I opted for the three extra years on warranty.
It was made clear with the DVD that comes with the machine that the 6300 is the same machine as the Vitamix Pro 500."

Easiest Dosa Batter Maker!

"Seems pricey but worth every penny. You can be done making many quarts of Dosa batter in min (3-4) compared to literally hours with the traditional grinder.
Shakes and health mixes come out great too..
Idly batter is bit iffy as it does urud dal a little too fast...but certainly great for that too."

"This is one of the best things I have ever bought. This machine does so many things and is a strong strong type advanced blender but more than a regular blender. I also want to say the speedyness of the delivery was amazing. I am glad I ordered from them even tho I have to pay the extra. We have no Costco in our area and it does take a while to get to the one even relately near us. I would gladly order from them again."

"I bought Vitamix over three years ago. I love it and cook taco soup at least every other week. I made smoothy for my 7 yrs old daughter almost daily. I love them. A few weeks ago I bought Blendtec. No comparison. Bledtec is noisy. I will return Blendtec. Vitamix is the only blender to own. it does the best of job and give the end result is always SUPER."
