AutoChron® 3-pack Wireless Wall Switch Timer
The AutoChron wireless wall switch timer is a patented, easy to install timer that mounts over any standard toggle wall switch. It will automatically turn on & off the toggle without requiring any hard wiring.
The timer's easy-to-program keypad offers a manual override allowing you to use your switch without affecting programming. Set the AutoChron to flip the switch on up to nine (9) times a day, remaining on for anywhere from one minute to 24 hours. It's as easy as setting an alarm clock.
Controls indoor lamps, lighting, ceiling fans, porch lights, landscape lighting, holiday lights - any device that is controlled by a wall switch.
Easily mounts directly on top of the wall switch plate with included mounting screw. Works on single plates, can be mounted on one toggle switch for double plates and can be mounted on the two end toggles with a 3-switch plate.
The AutoChron has a simple key-tap programming with an easy to read large LCD display. Multi-function display also has a low battery indicator, room temperture and glow in the dark buttons. Requires two (2) AA batteries (not included).

Most economical option for us
Pros: more reliable and precise than a photocell timer.
Cons: no backlight. hard to see info when you want to, change/add programs once unit is installed on, switch plate.

"The wiring in our 40+ yr old house does not support the new electronic timers, especially when trying to control a porch light that uses CFL bulb. The AutoChron solves the problem and we can continue using long-life/energy-saving CFL bulbs. Couldn't wait to throw away the unreliable photocell timer that we previously used. The photocell would turn on the light in the evening but didn't turn off the light until mid-afternoon when the sun was shining brightly."

Pros: take it with you when you move or when you travel.
Cons: should include a double sticky foam pad., this would make the top portion more secure to, switch plate.

Extremely unreliable

"A couple of units I got from my first purchase were either DOA or failed working properly after a couple of weeks. Called Costco customer support and they second me another replacement pack. 2 out of 3 units failed to worked properly after a couple of months. I am going to return to Costco again. Would never buy from this manufacture again."

"Its a simple system that turns on and off switches to either use to have people think you are home, or turn on lights before you get home in the winter. 3 pack is a good deal. It seemed easy to set up, program and have working out of the box.
Wish it had a variable programming that was different than the factory setting to have the light turn on and off at different hours during the night to have people not figure out the simple system"

"I have been looking for a way to turn my front porch light on at dusk & off at dawn-when not at home- for quite a while. Because I have a covered front porch, items which have photocells just didn't work (stayed on all the time or flickered). And I didn't just want a motion sensor..It took me minutes to install & program. I have had it about 2 weeks & It has worked perfectly. I have had to adjust the "on" time a couple of times (getting darker earlier & earlier!) and it literally takes less than 15 seconds to adjust the start time. I am so happy to finally have my porch light on so I am no longer coming home to a dark porch. I really don't need 3, so have given one away as a gift..."

BAD PRODUCT-DOESN'T WORK

"This WOULD be a great product if it worked, b/c the idea is great. The product itself doesn't work. We purchased 6 of these from two different sources. Four of the 6 were bad. The 3-pack here was the worst! Definitely won't buy again. (Wondering how many we have to buy to get 3 good ones!)"

Bulky But Effective!
Pros: great price at costco!, operates as described.
Cons: may require a normal switchplate.
"Yes, it's bulky.
And for 1.5 seconds each time it activates, you can hear it activate (not loud, but there is a noise).

But it allows 10 programmable times. So you can set each day for a different time to activate and deactivate, and have 3 more options left.
It attaches well to any 'normal' (i.e. flat) switchplate. If you have a decorative switchplate (or one that isn't flat), you will want to consider changing the switchplate first."

2 of the 3 already broke
Pros: nice for saving power.
Cons: out of the box failure., second unit broke withing 2 weeks.
"While this seems like a great product, and is pretty cool when it worked, 2 of the 3 are already broken and display nothing but an Err code that will not clear (even when I press the reset pin-hole). One of the units was broken out of the box and now a second one has stopped working. I will be returning."

It works!
"All other digital timers on the market today require you to replace the switch with the timer. The catch is your wiring has to have two hot wires. If you are in an older home likely you only have one hot wire so all these timers won't work for you. This gives you a digital timer by combining it with a mechanical motor to flip the light switch. I have tried the one non-digital timer on the market but had a lot of quality control issues with them and finally gave up in favor of this one."

"product is OK, and works as described. i bought this because the 3 pack deal price was the best i found on the web. i do however wish i had read the product feature specs better before hitting the purchase button, the timer does not have a 'randomization' feature. and thats pretty basic for any of these types of timers. if u set a light to come on at 8pm on the dot all the time, its pretty obvious that its a timer vs. a randomization feature where it will come on anytime between 7:30 and 8:30 for example if u set it for 8PM. no randomization makes the product not that great for security purposes."

Brilliant product

"This timer is such a simple idea but works just brilliantly. It acts as a mechanical finger on a timer to turn on a standard light switch and is just what we needed for our very old house with non-standard wiring. The switch fits over the existing wall plate, takes about 1 minute to install and 2 minutes to program. We are using 2 of these to turn on our outside porch light and garage light and the third to show the house is occupied when we are away."

Answer to my continuing problem
Pros: works on an electrical switch, battery operated so no resetting with power outage, easy to program
"I have tried to find a reliable timer to turn lights on when I am out of town. I knew I couldn't put one on the porch light as it's operated with a switch. Then I found the Auto-Chron wall switch timer and my search was over. I use them all the time to operate my porch light and other lights in the house when I'm out of town. Couldn't be happier. And you can actually understand the instructions and it's so easy to do the programming."
