Mr.fixit

Pros: stand alone use good color and contrast.
Cons: grainy immage and streaks in picture paticularly, on darker pictures, crops portions of a light immage against a dark, background.
"Colors and contrast excellent, but grainy image with stripes even after cleaning the scanning port. It also chopped the top of the heads in portrait shots against a dark background. This is because of the automatic cropping feature which can not be modified. I contacted costumer support and was told that the issue was forwarded to a higher level in engineering, but never heard from them again. I will return the unit."

Great for Slides!

Pros: price
Model Number: P461
"Super easy to use. I choose to transfer to micro card, then to Picasa on my laptop. Slides came through super! Takes a little time to load each one, but for the price, it works great. I only scanned a few photos, but it was super simple and the quality of scans were great."

Don't buy it, waste of time

Pros: small size, fairly fast scan speed
Cons: scans were terrible, often scanned photos at an angle, slide tray kept popping open
"While I didn't expect top of the line scans from a machine this inexpensive, I also couldn't believe how bad the scans were. I tried, honest I did, several times. Photos and slides. I was willing to live with fair scans of my slides, but only maybe 2 came out half way acceptable. The rest were garbage. Too dark, fuzzy, lines on them. Some slides I couldn't even tell what they were of.
Photo scans were somewhat better. But there is a trick to loading the photo into the scanner. If it goes in crooked, you have to do it all over again. And the quality was not nearly as good as my regular paper scanner. So I was bummed to return this, as I really did want to make it work. The tray for slides popped open alot too. I worried it wouldn't last throughout all the slides I had intended to scan. Loved the size. Gonna spend more money and try again."

Good unit for simple digital transfer

Model Number: P641
"Very simple to use for photos which scan quickly and store in adequate resolution and standard .jpg format. Slides are slower and difficult to perfectly align in holder but it is adequate. For scanning large quantities of photos, this is good. For large quantities of slides, the one at a time into the holder and then scan is very time consuming."

Pros: price, brand name
Cons: does not work
Model Number: P4651
"Did create great scans for about 15 photo slides 35mm. but then it froze up and no longer worked at all. Returned to costco and ordered another one. will let all know how it performs. so far Kodak has not lived up to it's name."

Love it!

Model Number: P461
"I have recently purchased this scanner and love it. It is very easy to use and scans old photos beautifully. It is fast, small, fun to use and a great buy. I have not checked out the slides yet, but I am sure it will work fine. I highly recommend this product."
