Quality System

Model Number: QC40196
"I replaced my old system with this new one. I had no problems installing.
I called Daniel M. in support and in 10 minutes I had the remote viewing up and runnining. It was refreshing to get a support tech that I could understand and that was knowledgeable about their product . . .Thanks Daniel M.

Third time a charm?

Cons: long waits for tech support
"I ordered two of these systems. I begun putting together the first unit I received and I couldn't get the camera's to work. After being on hold for 30 minutes or so, the tech told me that the power supply must be bad. They told me they would send me a new one in 3-5 days after I fill out the online return form. I filled it out and they emailed me that I needed to fill out another form. So I did. Three days later I got an email saying that since I haven't filled out any forms that my problem must have been resolved. I returned it the next day to Costco. I decided to order another one. I got the new unit and was so excited to see that the power supply was working. The only problem was now the monitor wouldn't work. I don't know if I should give it one more shot."

A dependable rugged system

Pros: price, well trained support
Cons: slow support, cables are too short, cannot get real time video in remote.
"My system is a year old now. Three outside, 5 inside. Never a moments trouble once the system was up and running. Tech support is slow to acquire but very efficient once they are on the line. Average wait of about 30 to 45 minutes for a tech guy, but I have only needed them twice in a year. DVR, playback, monitor, remote viewing, all work great. Having playback available has helped me to answer many questions about production, slackers, accidents, etc. I can watch my business from my desk, my recliner at home, or the hotel room from Barbados. I am now buying one for my Wife's yoga studio. A great value in my opinion."

great dvr for a Mac user

Pros: great online access good customer/tech support, you can use it with a mac!!!
Cons: short cables tricky software setup, mac interface requires some serious workarounds
Model Number: qt426
"I've had this system for about 5 months.
the physical set up is easy, straight forward, etc. the cable length is an issue for many, but consider any installation of any camera system as custom and unique.
The software setup is not easy. luckily the support has been great and they logged in remotely and set up all the portforwarding to get it online.
The touted Mac compatibility is tricky.
something changed in my Macbook's settings and the Safari interface would not work. Found that running in developer mode and as 5.0.5 it worked again.
The iPhone app is awesome despite the small buttons.

NO SUPPORT - 3 X THE COST TO INSTALL

Cons: terrible service
"We should have PAID someone to install our security system. The phone que had anywhere from 30 - 85 callers ahead of us, HOURS AND HOURS ON HOLD, just to get someone to help our genious technician install this system. We are so deep into it $$$$ that we can't return it and start all over. AND to top it all off, they were RUDE when I called. DO NOT BUY THIS UNLESS YOU WANT TO SPEND HOURS ON THE PHONE AND THEN GET TOLD YOU HAVE TO HAVE ANOTHER CALL BY A LEVEL 2 TECHNICIAN, AND THEY NEVER CALL!!!!! Really, trust me, don't buy this, we wish we had paid someone."

Short On Cable/Short On Patience

Model Number: QT426
"Positives first. Decent cameras, DVR works well enough - easy to set that part up.
Here's the catch(es). Super short cables...plan on buying 3rd party extensions. The web interface? Doesn't work on IE9, or any flavor or FF or Chrome. This element is clearly an afterthought that I don't believe Q-see cares about. Tech support unresponsive. Shockingly, the 3rd party smartphone app *does* work (for Android). If you want to be sitting at your desk *and* be able to see your cameras on your monitor, this is not your brand."

Home Security Cameras - Q-SEE is TOP NOTCH

Pros: excellent value for the money, excellent camera quality, quick delivery
Cons: you will need extra cabling, software setup is not easy
"If you want a quality camera system, you HAVE to go with a hard wired system. This particular system is a tremendous value. BUT - you will need to get professional installation, MORE cable ahead of time and plan it out. Also - be patient and take some time to figure out the Web & smart phone access. It is not for the faint of heart. So I did have some startup issues but it has been running flawlessly for over a month and I am very pleased with it. It performs much better than any wireless system (and I've tried several)."

Great system - excellent value

Pros: good image, easy to install, price
Cons: clunky ui
"We're using this indoors and have had great success after a month. The hardware setup is simple. The internet functions work well. The night vision is excellent. The resolution of the cameras is pretty good - compared to a lot of the systems we looked at it's actually much better. The only real complaint is that programming the system and reviewing video is a bit clunky and not terribly convenient to use."

cables lacking

Pros: lots of cameras, hard drive, monitors via smartsphones
Cons: short cables
Model Number: Q-See
"If this unit offered longer cables, even as an upgrade.
I read the description before I purchased it, fearing just this. If 4-6 cameras came with 60' of cable, the second 2-4 came with 100' and the final 10 or so cameras each 2 came with 125', 150', 175', & 200', I'd ordder the unit today most likely provided there were no other negatives.
It seems like an excellent unit.
they only seem to have been short sighted on the wire
