Great TV Set

Pros: sharp picture
Cons: none
Model Number: UN55D6050
"I did alot of research and shopping at various large stores. There are several very good tvs available. After weeks of thinking and studying several, I finally decided to get this Samsung. I have had it only 2 weeks, but I am very happy with the purchase. I have never seen a sharper image on another set ( regardless of price ). While this is far from being one of the less expensive tvs, I believe "you get what you pay for". It was very easy to set up and to adjust the picture to best suit me. I bought it at Costco.com because of the free delivery, and it was alot easier than trying to fit it into my vehicle. Two men carried the box right into the house. Very good service. I considered a 60" set, but decided it would look like a billboard. Now I know that I made the right choice: it looks great. Keep in mind that a big tv demands a big room. Also, it has suprisingly good sound. Most flat screens have very bad sound. Nevertheless, I may add a sound package at a later date.

Screws needed for wall mount

Pros: really great picture, extremely light tv
Cons: must "diy" for wall mount, internet connection is finicky
Model Number: UN55D6050TF
"I agree with many other reviewers out there. This picture is great! I had previously purchased the 60" Sharp Aquos Quattron, but could not get the picture to look very good. Plus, that TV just didn't fit well above my fireplace - so back it went. The Samsung fits perfectly. However, the TV does not come with the screws you need to mount the TV to the wall. It comes with plastic rings/spacers, but no screws. What is more, Samsung says that wall mounting this set is not supported. Well after a couple of trips to the hardware store, I was able to locate the correct size - M8-1.25x25. Combined with a single M8 sized washer on each screw, the 25 length fit perfectly through the Samsung-provided plastic spacer rings and my old wall mount.
I have yet to get the internet to work reliably on this TV, but it's not a huge deal for me as my blu-ray player connects just fine. I'm going to keep working with it, and am sure I'll figure it out eventually.
Overall very happy with this purchase. I had been a Sharp fanboy, but now I'm a Samsung convert.

Samsung Quality

Pros: stellar picture, very adjustable picture, thin and lightweight
Cons: some judder and blur, sound is ok not great
Model Number: UN55D6050
"We purchased this TV about three weeks ago and have been mostly happy. After finding some good calibration settings online, we have it pretty dialed in. At first, there was some judder and blur if one looked for it, especially around the edges of the panel, but adjusting the "Auto Motion Plus" to "Clear" it seems to be much better. I also changed the output of our HD cable box to 720p and this helped immensely; otherwise the TV is trying to upscale the 720p output of the box to 1080p which seems to cause lag. We got this TV for a great deal around Thanksgiving time--the price just could not be beat. The colors are great and the extra features like Smart Hub and its apps are nice too, although not a prime reason to buy. Samsung also throws in the WiFi USB device for free with this model--many other Samsung TV's do not include it. There are a ton of settings you can change to make the picture the way you want, and also to get rid of the "soap opera" effect others have described. We purchased the Kanto full articulating mount as well, and this TV looks like a piece of art on the wall, whether it's on or off. Buy now and enjoy! Especially if the price goes lower!"

Amazing picture, terrible quality & service

Pros: picture and price
Cons: quality, service (particularly in las vegas)
Model Number: UN55D6050
"2 stars because I agree with the other reviews in terms of picture quality and price performance. On those dimensions this TV is very hard to beat. However, maybe I just had bad luck but the quality and service are extremely poor. First one I got had a broken connector for component audio/video - Samsung has a custom converter cable that is funky and mine was broken out of the box. I returned that one and the second worked fine for about a month and then failed - powers itself off after 30 seconds. After a couple of calls with Samsung's tech support line (which were pretty helpful people) and no fix or work around so they scheduled me for repair and promised a 48 hour turn around. 7 Days later and I have not heard form anyone so I make another call to Samsung. They apologize and give me the name of their local repair contractor here in Vegas. After a quick web search I realize that company (Usaco Service corp) has probably the worst reviews possible including an F rating with BBB. Thank goodness for Costco who took the second TV back. Now I have to decide to either shell out more money for a better Samsung model or go with the new Sony XBR's which are a bit more expensive."

Great picture, was as expected from LED-LCD

Model Number: UN55D6050
"Pros: Great picture, bright color, deep blacks, messing just a bit with the standard settings on each mode (contrast, brightness, color, etc.) got me to a good place - didn't need to do much. I didn't notice much of a difference between the clear motion settings (including off) and haven't really noticed blurring as others say, but i'm not too picky about sports.
Thin, sexy looking TV. I didn't really need an LED-LCD, could have got a normal LCD just fine, but this one definitely looks better if you care about that. Samsung just seems to nail the aesthetics compared to any other brand. But of course, you can obviously see the TV and make your own call.
Remote and menus are pretty good compared to other brands - nothing bad there. You can mess with the advanced color settings if you really want to.
Cons (kind of):
The sound is ok, but not awesome. If you're an audiophile it will probably make you cry. However, this is why there are several options out there for home theater sound. I think the speakers are fine for how thin these LED TVs are.
Due to the LED nature of the TV, there is some "flashlighting" in the corners when watching something with black bars on top/bottom - and - when there are bright, solid colors across a large portion of the screen (i.e. a commercial or cartoon) there is subtle uneveness to the lighting. Both effects are barely there, and this is one of those things that just doesn't bug most people unless you stare right at it, as it's present on many TVs to some degree. I think it's acceptable, again, since it's (not a top-end model) LED-LCD and that's how they work. But, if you just can't stand this sort of thing at all, ever, then maybe look for higher end models, plasma, or a straight LCD version if you can find it in this size. (unfortunately, this is tough to test out in the store with all the bright lights on).
Keep in mind, when it comes to the actual picture - the main reason you're looking at TVs - it's awesome. I haven't seen a single issue with the actual picture viewing experience. Even the viewing at extreme angles is fine (i.e. as you increase your viewing angle, the annoyance of viewing the TV at a sharp angle gets to you long before any degradation in color will).
I haven't tried to get it to connect online yet or mess with online features (I use an Xbox and PS3 for all of that kind of thing). So I can't comment on those.
Little things:
Input/outputs are on the LEFT side of the TV as you LOOK AT IT FROM THE BACK. Just FYI, since many TVs are reverse from this.
DIGITAL (OPTICAL) AUDIO OUT and normal AUDIO OUT are nowhere near each other on the TV's back. Just FYI in case you're looking at a pic of the back and can't locate one or the other.
There is a delay when changing the channel via hitting the number (vs. just hitting channel up or down). Some people really hate this. But, a digital cable box may alleviate this.
It's awesome. Would get 4.5-4.75 stars if I could (only deducting due to sound)."
