A Must-Have for Every House
Pros: quick, hygienic, accurate
Cons: none so far!
"A great product everyone should own. Having the ability to take a temperature in seconds without waking the child is invaluable. I've seen this type of instrument in my doctors office for years, it's nice to have the same at home at a great price!"
Pros: thermometer will measure air cooking & body temp
Cons: unknown - test against doctor's thermometer & see
Model Number: 11-900
"I have an older in ear thermometer (Braun Thermoscan) which has given me accurate readings. The veratemp no skin touch reads .5 degree less. I plan to test both during my next doctor's visit. At that point I will decide which is the most accurate. Once I've done the double check I will use the best for body temperature readings with other one as backup"

wonderful device for checking temperatures
Model Number: 11-900
"I use this for taking body temperatures. It is very accurate, easy, and there is no danger of harm from a laser, which some of these use. It just picks up the body temperature from about 3 inches distance. It also accurately measures room and surface temperature. I can check the bath water temp for a child, check that the room isn't too cool or hot, and check a sleeping person's temperature without them being aware of it. A wonderful, dependable thermometer at a great price."

Does not give accurate, consistent readings
Pros: no contact, quick response
Cons: inaccurate, clears too quickly, no way of knowing which temp is accurate
"I was soo excited for this thermometer as I run a home based day care and need something quick, easy, and the ability to use on multiple children. I had a child that I was monitoring, and I would hold the thermometer still (and the child was still) and checked it 5 times in quick succession. Each temp was wildly different from 96.2 to 101.4! I have no idea which temp was close to correct. I tried it several times over the next two days, double checked the directions, and had another adult do the same. The readings are still all over the place. So, unfortunately, this will be going back. So disappointed."

Great Thermometer
Pros: love the ability to get surface temps, no contact means no need to buy disposable covers
"I've been very happy with the performance of this unit. I've not seen any of the temperature fluctuations that some others have mentioned. I can use it to insure that the water temp for growing yeast is at 108 degrees. Also I have a green tea that specifies a steeping temp of 180 degrees. The unit will display temperatures of over 200 degrees."

had such high hopes
Pros: reads fast
Cons: temps read at least 1 degree lower everytime
"i was thrilled to see this no contact thermometer. it arrived just as my son got sick so it was perfect timing. unfortunately, it read at least 1 degree lower for my son, my daughter, myself and my husband. 3 adults tried it and got varying results. it was fast, but not accurate. and yes, i can read directions. yes, i am comfortable with technology.
this product just didn't ready accurately for us. bummer."

Awesome
Pros: fast, accurate, big readout screen, easy to use, never touches the skin, autosave stores last 32 temperature readings, easy to switch between body and room modes, you can switch between farenheit and celcius, gives temps of food and liquids as well, 2 aaa batteries included
Cons: display blanks out too quickly
Model Number: JA001
"This is a great thermometer. My wife owns a home daycare and so it's essential to have an accurate thermometer that can be safely used among different kids. We had an old in-the-ear model but this is one is so much more accurate with a much faster reading.
The people who find this thermometer confusing just don't know how to use it. It has two different modes: body and room. It's easy to switch back and forth between them. But you can also check liquids and solid food temp.--anything that radiates heat. The problems apparently come from users not knowing how to set it for body or room mode and understanding the screen color coding. Word of advice: READ THE USERS MANUAL BEFORE USING THE THERMOMETER.
The color codes are real easy to understand; anyone who has used a digital instant read food thermometer would be familiar with them. The screen displays the temperature but the backlighting is color coded to show: green if the temp is below normal range, orange if in normal range, and red for fevers over 100.4 degrees. If the temp is below the minimum low the thermometer reads, the display is Lo. It;s Hi if above the maximum high. What could be easier?
It's fast, it's accurate, and it works. My wife loves it. Turned out the first person she tested it on is our feverish son."

returned
"I had an 10yr old thermometer that was the kind you take the temp in the ear and was needing a replacement. I was excited to get this product after reading the reviews, but when I got the product I was really disappointed. The product itself didn't seem solidly built. I scanned my child 7 times and got 7 different readings. I even got different readings when scanning the room temp. The LCD screen changes color from red, green to yellow depending on the reading. If the temp is 1 degree off, the LCD changes color, which I found confusing. The main factor was that it didn't seem accurate. I returned to the store and got the one that swipes across the forehead. I prefer that one much better....and it was cheaper than this thermometer!"

Great Thermometer!
"SO easy! Just point and you know. I had one that you had to drag across your forehead, hated it! This one you can tell the temp of anything you point it at. Baby bottle, food, anything! Love it."

Nice thermometer
Pros: no cantact needed
"Works great and you don't have to make any contact to take temp. So when the little ones are sick you don't have to wake them or fuss with them to get their temp, we cross checked to se how accurate it was compaired to an oral thermometer and they were the same. Great thermometer to have around!"

Bought as baby shower gift
Pros: no disturbing young child, child won't fear having readings taken
"this baby shower gift was given to a young mother asking for a thermometer to take reading from the ear. She was ecstatic to receive product, she did not know of this type. She is very pleased to have the ability to read her newborn's temperature without disturbance. Now, it just has to work right. Coming from Costco, she can return it for another if she finds it doesn't work as advertised."

Great for the whole Family
"This works so great, and is so easy. We have given away out every other thermometer we own. It is very fast and easy to use for the person taking the temp, and very easy for the person getting their temperature taken. Perfect for babies!"

Works great
Pros: fast reading, non-contact
"This device is fantastic for taking temperatures. Very, very fast. Repeatable (do it twice and you get the same temp.) I recommend taking some readings at different times during the day/night for each person you will use it with (when they are fine) to get an idea of what that person's "normal" body temperature is. Record your data and keep it handy so you will know how high/low a temp they have when sick."
