not even remotely as pictured

Pros: sturdy
Cons: no color, cheap fixture
Model Number: L-01M
"received this item today, and was thoroughly disappointed. similarity to the online picture ended with the dimensions. while i would naturally expect SOME color variation, ours is COMPLETELY white, with no "amber-hued swirls" AT ALL. "unique" is accurate if they mean uniquely bland. i have to think that they put an orange-tinted bulb in the pictured item. plus, the bulb socket is poorly mounted, so the bulb does not even sit in the base securely or straight. otherwise, construction seems sturdy enough. so as long as you do not have ANY expectations that the delivered product has ANY of the colors pictured online, then this is a reasonable buy. otherwise, prepare to be disappointed."

Great lamp

Pros: doesn't take up much space on the nightstand, beautiful details
"Ordered two lamps for our bedroom and was impressed with how the lamps look...just like the photo. They fit perfectly with our craftsman furniture, and light up our large bedroom. We are extremely happy with my choice--even my fussy spouse who doesn't like anything likes them!"

Love it but........................

"The lamp is beautiful! However the base was crooked so the entire lamp leaned to one side. I (as well as the Costo Clerk) agreed it wasn't meant to lean. Needless to say, I returned it. Too bad cause it was gorgeous!"

Beautifully Unique Lamp!

Model Number: 573778
"Arrived 4 days after ordering on-line. Most any home improvement or hardware store will have a variety of bulb styles and technologies; e.g. incandescent, CFL & LED. On my lamp a candle may be used by removing the bulb’s socket by simply pinching two metal tabs accessible from the lamp’s bottom exterior. I swapped out the simple rotary switch on the chord with a SCR (silicon controlled rectifier) cord dimmer unit available at bulb stores mentioned above. While I’ve never seen a candelabra base CFL or LED bulb that will run properly on a SCR dimmer, with an incandescent bulb dimmed, the resulting warmer light accentuates the alabaster’s natural warm colors. And when such a bulb’s filament is dimmed to run cooler, its life will be almost equivalent to a CFL of LED – meaning it could be efficiently used as a night light."

Love It!!!

"It is sooooo beautiful ... Looks great with my granite counter top in the kitchen.
I now have a 40watt candelabra in it but it also makes a neat night light with a clear Christmas bulb (5 watts)."

BEAUTIFUL LAMP

"So pretty. I use a small 15 watt bulb for a soft glow. I have one on each end of my mantle and I leave them on all the time....kind of a retro look but the rectangular shaped globe gives it a contemporary feel. Just love the ambiance."

Beautiful

"Having lived many years in Egypt this is as good a product as one can expect from the alabaster craftsmen there. It is beautiful. I love it. I use a clear Christmas light in the lamp. I just stocked up because the lamp lends a warm glow to the room."

so-so

Pros: unusual
Cons: no bulb included and hard to find size.
"I read the other review and I agree with most in that the lamp is very pretty but the discription of it says that the light can be
removed to burn a candle, it isn't removable at all, glued in and I was also disappointed that it didn't come with a bulb. I have some chandalier bulbs and ceiling fan bulbs and they are too small for the socket in the lamp. I tried my night lite bulbs too and all were too small so I haven't been able to see it lit up as of yet cause I still have to find a bulb that will work so in that respect I am somewhat irked that it didn't at least come with a bulb.

"Lamp is beautiful, well priced and well weighted - definitely something you would not bring back from Egypt in your bags. Colors are cream, ivory & amber. WELL worth the price!"

Very nice!

Pros: handcrafted, unique appearance
"These seem to be the same as item 546383, except that the new ones have grooves cut on two sides of the bottom for the cord, allowing you to pick another side to run the cord under, presumably.
Anyway, this is a very nice accent light, which provides warm, diffuse lighting. It's handcrafted and the size seems to vary slightly. I've bought several of the other item number and some are up to an inch shorter than the others. They all look really nice, but some people may prefer a more finished, mass-produced lamp.
The alabaster tiles are mainly different shades of white & amber, but include touches of other colors, like grey, orange, blue, & red. The outside surfaces are polished and the inside is rough. They even look good unlit.
Note that the bulb socket is smaller than most standard US sockets. Candelabra or ceiling fan bulbs fit. I used 25W equivalent CFL's, which work nicely.
The listing picture is a good example of how they look. If you like the picture, give them a try."

very attractive

"This is a heavy lamp and gives off a nice accent light. Expensive, but if you like alabaster, you have to pay for it."

Ambiance galore

Pros: fits in many areas.
Cons: very fragile.
"The online photo doesn't do this fabulous lamp justice. Bought two and love the soft multi-faceted glow. Many beatiful but dissimilar pieces of alabaster combine to add interest and ambiance. Love my alabaster mosaic lamps more than others I own costing much more. Also great workmanship. Glows best with 25 watt bulbs, or less."

Could be better

Pros: beautiful one of a kind
Cons: bulb not included
"I bought two and they are beautiful lamps. the two things I am being critical of: They don't come with the bulb, and the felt pads on the bottom were not positioned evenly on the corners. the two I received appear to lean slightly and are not straight. I will try to reposition the felt pads on the bottom, but I don't think it will help the leaning problem"
