Not bad

"I don't think it's a bad all in one. Fan runs constantly "too Noisy" you serious? Maybe he got a defective one, but not happening here. I've had several brands of printers in the past to include all in one's and Brother brand seems to be the most reliable, and durable. I have a mac and I've never had a problem with the software. I gave my Super expensive Canon Image class to goodwill because the software was poor. Had an old Hp that wasn't impressive either. Anyway it's not getting 5 stars because I've only had it for a few weeks, but scanning, faxing, etc works quite well."

Best printer purchase to date.
Pros: very easy to set up. great quality.

"Ordered on Thursday afternoon and received it on Friday. Got it home, unpacked it and plugged it in. As soon as I turned on my computer (Mac) it automatically downloaded the most current drivers. After that I set up the printer preferences and hit print. It was that easy....It is now 5 weeks later and I am just as happy with this printer as I was on day one. The print quality is great, it is fast and I love that we can print double sided and my 7 year old knows how to make copies herself. Would recommend to a friend without a second thought."

Watch out for set-up!

"We have been using the printer for 2 weeks now and it has worked well. BUT...the initial set-up was a nightmare! As my husband said, you need a PhD to understand the directions. The manual was TERRIBLE! It referred us to places that didn't exist, it told us to do things that were impossible to understand. Finally, after 3 hours the first night, he called the Brother help-line during East-coast business hours, and the guy figured out that the serial number was too close to some other numbers, or something crazy like that, so he had him bypass that and plug in something else, and finally they got it to work...anyway, for that reason I could not recommend this printer. Otherwise, it works well, but it's only been less than 2 weeks."

Good but there is a disappointment

"This is a good printer/fax. Works well as a wireless. My disappointment is I can not print emails from iphone or ipad. There is an app offered but that does not allow you to print directly from you iphone programs"

Way too noisey

"I have never in my life had a printer that was this noisey. There is a fan that runs constantly. I bought this device to be a wireless printer in my office but the noise is incredible. If you set it up as a wireless device the fan NEVER shuts off. According to another review, if you use it as a wired device it will eventually go into "deep sleep" and shut off the fan(s). Not my device. I never completed a function test as the noise drove me crazy"

Great for home office

"The Brother MFC-7860DW is a great all in one printer that runs very well from remote distances (we have the printer in the basement with my airport on the 1st floor and I can print from the 2nd floor!). Easy to set up and scanning multi-page documents to a file from from one room to another is just a click of a button! The quality of the prints look great too.
For anyone who wants a wireless printer I would highly recommend."

Printer seems great ..one annoying feature
Pros: easy features to use delivers good prints
Cons: noisy after printing for about 10 minutes
"bought this printer a couple of weeks ago and it is really a good printer easy to use .. fast .. the copy and scan functions are real easy to use and the fax also one issue that is very annoying is it's got a fan that stays on after use for a long time it seems like 10 minutes and it has a loud hum so if you have the printer in a home office near you it's really bothersome ... I'm surprised that none of the other reviews here even mentioned that ... other than that so far it seems to deliver"

"Bought this for small / growing business office use. Wireless installation seemed to go smoothly. No problems sending / receiving faxes. No problems scanning. No problems printing. It fits the bill and its a laser printer."

"Very easy to setup, a little slower than the larger mfc brother machines. The small footprint is great. Several personal on laptops using the machine without any significant problems. Have had Brother's MFC at every station. So far this was a great buy. I recommend it for anyone that needs the MFC capabilitties."

Very Happy with Brother

"I own a HP J4550 all in one piece of junk printer. The document feeder jams all the time an also the fax feature fails most of the time. When I went to upgrade to a laser all in one, I noticed that the HP laser had the same junkie document feeder. No more HP'S I purchased the Brother MFC-7860 DW from costco. The Brother is everything advertised, it works like a charm. I would recommend the Brother to anyone in a small business."

Works great and small footprint
Pros: small footprint and inexpensive
Cons: a little tweaky to set up on a lan

"Was a little skeptical about being able to have it scan to email or scan to pc but after a little tweaking we got it working. The printer is on a domain network which makes things a little more complicated, but it is working on both Win7 and WinXP workstations. We called Brother tech support with the problem we were having and they were very helpful."

Two sided printig results in paper jams
Cons: two sided printing results in paper jams

"I have used Brother printers for years. Bought this model specifically because it can print on both sides of the paper. Used this model for about two weeks and now returning it because the rate of paper jams with duplex printing is about 40%
Other features are standard and function as advertised."

Easy Install, good copy, fast printer.
Pros: fast printer, good quality, good tech support, easy install, good compatibility

"This printer replaces our old laser printer from the 1980's (12ppm). I was waiting to get my first copy out and wondered why it was taking so long ... the copy was in the tray already! I had just swiveled my chair around to wait for it and it was already there! Had a good laugh out of that. Just so you know that the on-off switch is on the right side close to the back on this printer. I had to call Brother to find it as there is no mention in the manual as to how to turn this printer on. This was an easy install. I went online to read about it before we began. I don't usually load additional software with my devices so there were no conflicts. My computer is about 6 years old, and I keep it updated so there were no surprises with compatibility issues. Wireless is wonderful, but we chose to use USB with this printer. We have VOIP phone service and there is no issue with that. We have a different option already installed for FAX and we just wanted a laser printer with FAX in case our other device decides to fail us in the future. I would recommend this product ... we buy our office products from COSTCO because not only are they quality products at an exceptional price, the warranty and services are exceptional. COSTCO representatives and services are courteous, and friendly ... they are efficient and accomodating to the members they serve. Thank you once agan, COSTCO. Our family motto when shopping has become "Go COSTCO or go home.""

Very Happy With My Purchase
Pros: fast great quality
Cons: took 3 weeks to receive it, doesn't come with usb cable
"It has only been a couple of weeks at this point but so far I am very happy with my purchase. It prints quickly and the quality is great. Scan and copy are good as well. I was looking for duplex, wireless, and laser and I got all 3 for a decent price. I was able to hook up the wireless with no problems and it is working great. I can print from my laptop downstairs and upstairs from my desktop. Only problem so far doesn't have anything to do with the product, it took almost 3 weeks to receive it and I had to call a couple of times to find out what was going on. It doesn't come with a USB cable so I had to run out and go get one after I thought I was ready to go. Other than that so far so good."
