go with the self reliance brand!!
Pros: cheaper
Cons: short 7 year shelf life; compaired to white rice, not a gamma bucket, no inner sealed bag (double seal)
"for one thing the brown rice only has a 7 year shelf life. the white has 30 yrs.
I recommend the shelf reliance brand because it came with the screw top cap and the product was package in an inner air tight bag.
this brand has no inner sealed bag and the snap on lid was flimzy compaired to the gamma top lids the self reliance brand came with.
I would stay away from the brown rice due to the shorter shelf life. go with the gamma type buckets!!"

For long term stor, recommend the wt rice instead

Cons: food is not sealed in mylar bag inside pail, food not divided into multiple bags inside pail
"If you're buying for long term storage there are two things you need to know about storing brown rice as opposed to white.
1. Brown rice goes rancid about twice as fast as white.
2. When preparing, you'll need more fuel to cook brown rice.

I understand folks want to eat healthy and brown rice has better & more abundant nutrients. But long term does need to mean long term. The shelf life of the brown rice will come and go quickly. So, if you have money and can afford to buy 4-6 of these and replace them every 5-7 years-fine. But if you're working food storage into a budget, you may be better advised going with the long term white rice product.
Fyi, the rice is directly in the pail. It is not mylar wrapped inside the pail. Once pail is opened, you'll be hard pressed to use all of the product in time."

"Pail arrived tightly sealed! Emergency earthquake or other disaster supplies. Hopefully I will not find it necessary to use! Says 7 year shelf life unopened probably longer than that unopened!"

Good long term storage
Pros: fine tender grains, avoids gumminess, durable storage container
Cons: container is a hassle to open and reclose
"This long grain brown rice delivers lots of nourishment without overpowering a dish with its own strong flavor. Unlike other types of brown rice, this rice cooks up without getting "gummy".
Add chicken soup base to the water when cooking then sautéed chopped shallots and mushrooms to make a great side dish for roasted chicken. Use pork or beef soup base for a great fried rice dish.
The 5 gal. pail is tightly sealed and equipped with oxygen absorber for long-term storage. I added a Gamma Seal screw-top lid to the pail to make storage and access more convenient."
