Looks good but locks up too often

Pros: nice interface, easy to use
Cons: locked up too often, doesn't support enough video formats
Model Number: BD755-k
"I bought this mostly to play MKV videos that are high definition. It plays them better from the USB port than burned to discs, but this unit locked up 3 times in less than a week. I had to unplug it each time to get it back to working. Also, I was surprised this unit does not play AVI or very many other video file formats.
I did like the interface. When I turned on the player, it would somehow magically change the Input on my TV to the BluRay player without me having to do it. Whatever I had in the player (disc or USB stick) would go right to the file listings without me having to search for them. If I wanted to see the status of a video, I could have it on the screen as long as I wanted. The remote control is well designed so that the most frequently used buttons are easy to get to.
I did try to get Panasonic to help me figure out why this unit kept locking up on me but their tech support couldn't really help me. I ended up returning this unit and getting an LG BD630 which was $20 more but plays more video formats and hasn't locked up on me yet."

Excellent HD 1080p Blu-ray DVD Player

Pros: everything is good
Cons: does not play .wmv video but plays .mkv video
Model Number: Panasonic DMP-BD755
"Great Blu-ray DVD player, plays HD AVCHD, HD .mkv (Matroska) videos, HD MPEG-2 slideshows -- I tested all of them.
Works in accordance with the specifications.
Unfortunately, this model does not play the .wmv videos created by Windows Live Movie Maker, but after I had converted them to the .mkv (Matroska) format, it started to play the latter with the original HD 1080p resolution from the regular DVD-R disk. Plays movies and slideshows from the USB flash drive, too. The included HDMI cable is long enough (about 53").
Overall, it's a great Blu-ray DVD player for its price.

Internet connection locks up the player

Cons: wired internet connection locks the system up
"Works great to play DVDs. But like others once I connected it to a wired internet connection the whole player locks up. Have to unplug it to restart. Repeat as often as you like, Then remove internet cable and works fine, (cable works fine with laptop). Same panasonic is putting out this junk. If you want to use Netflix etc don't bother. Going back to Costco now."

Network Problems

Pros: cheap, small
Cons: network issues, no toslink audio out
Model Number: DMP BD755
"I got this as an additional blu-ray. My others are Samsungs. It works fine until you try to connect it to the internet. Then the whole system locks up. If the network cable is plugged in it could lock up at anytime. I have gotten two of them and they do the same thing. I guess I'll be spending the extra $25 to get something that works."

Panasonic shame on you

Pros: decent bd playback
Cons: letterboxed netflix playback out of the box, flawed netwworking
Model Number: DMP-BD755-p-k
"This player's network device is flawed. It not only locked up the player several times, it also made my 8port switch choke and require a reset. I was using the latest firmware and have tried several cables and proved with a laptop that cabling was not the issue. I am dissapointed as I have always felt that Panasonic was of highest quality. It seems that they have gone the route of Sony by offering an inferior line of products to compete at the entry level price point. I should have known better but I will not be fooled again."

Great housewarming gift

Cons: don't order it by mail
Model Number: DMP-BD755P-K
"This is not the first time I purchased this item, so I know it is a decent DVD player. However, this is the first time I purchased it through Costco and it was meant as a gift. I was surprised to see that the player was sent in its original box, no outer box, with the shipping label slapped on top. This will be difficult to remove and will tear up the box. I will return it to a local Costco for an exchange."
