great machine, poor instructions

Pros: well built machine, makes excellent ice cream sorbets forzen drinks, you can make several batches per day, no mess easy clean up
Cons: instruction manual is way too vague, you have to dl the recipes yourself, there aren't recipes for gelato frozen yogurt, no recipe for sherbets like the description shows
Model Number: ICM-15LS
"I researched many various machines prior to deciding on this machine. Honestly the main reason I chose this machine was because I knew I could return it should I not like it. I had to rely on other reviews I read here for tips about how to use the machine, recipes, etc. This machine makes excellent products but you need to figure out a lot of things yourself for the right outcome. Today I learned that if you leave the ice cream in the machine after the timer goes off it freezes better than when you put the ice cream in your freezer. You have to DL the recipe booklet but it doesn't include recipes for Gelato, Frozen Yogurt nor Sherbet and all 3 desserts are mentioned in the product description. Tips: use only 4 egg yolks or less, find other recipes and use them with this machine, chill the ice cream base until it's cold before churning, once the churning stops leave the ice cream in the machine for 10-20 mins, read all the reviews here for other tips. AGAIN: this is a GREAT machine but the Instructions and recipes are lacking. It seriously makes the best products my family & I have ever tasted and it's very fast. Today I made 2 batches of ice cream in no time. Makes sorbet in 20 mins if the fruit is frozen prior to when you purree. Makes frozen drinks in 10 mins if the fruit is frozen prior to when you purree it. This machine is extremely easy to use once you figure out what has a good end result & what doesn't. We have only had the machine a few weeks, I am sure in time we will find it has more benefits. I am very glad I purchased this machine."

Makes Great Ice Cream

Pros: quick, easy to clean, simple to program
Cons: a bit noisy, fill instructions with the machine are vague
Model Number: ICM-15LS
"This machine makes ice cream in a quick hurry! The finished product is great, if not plentiful; as this unit only makes about 1 quart at a time. This machine is a bit noisy, but clean-up is a breeze."

This is it!

Pros: style, quality, sorbet
Model Number: Whynter ICM-15LS
"We've tried everything from you ball ice cream maker to your pre-freeze bowl type devices. This self freezing unit is definitely the way to go. Couldn't be easier. Came in a pretty box with all the accessories, we go it making ice cream in 30 minutes. Works beautifully as a sorbet maker as well. I'm so very happy with it."

Pros: makes ice cream sorbet & gelator
Cons: bent metal casing, no instruction book, no recipe book, noisy
Model Number: ICM 15L
"I purchased this unit for my wife's Christmas present. It came with the tin bent on the side, no instruction manual, no recipe book. We found the instruction book on line. It's simply a booklet that tells you what each button does, but fails to tell you how and when the buttons are to be used. For instance, it doesn't give any indication of how long the timer should be set for various recipes (perhaps because there are no recipes given with the ice cream maker)! If you read the online version of the recipes at the Whynter website for this unit, it actually refers to a different model (the SNO maker) - and the size of the mixing bowl is apparently different. So, we had to fumble around in different websites trying to find recipes that might work for this machine.
Of lesser importance, the recipe instructions appear to be a translation of some sort, perhaps from Chinese - the location the unit was made.
While the machine made adequate Gelato, we returned it to Costco and got our money back for the reasons mentioned above. We love Costco, we didn't like this machine.

Great Machine

Pros: fresh ice cream in under an hour, perfect results every time, easy-to-read controls, easy to clean, well manufactured machine
Cons: kind of noisy, kind of big
"I've wanted a "real" ice cream machine for years, and finally took the plunge after seeing that this machine had all the features I was looking for: stainless steel housing and bowl, electronic controls, and the possibility of adding ingredients easily while the ice cream is being processed. The Whynter machine makes a quart of ice cream in about 50 minutes; smaller quantities as little as 15 minutes. At the end of the churning cycle, the ice cream is ready to eat, if you like soft-serve consistency. If not, just freeze it for an hour or so. The top opening is great for adding mix-ins at the end of the churning cycle (M&Ms, chocolate chips, even small spoonfuls of peanut butter) without having to remove the lid, so you save time and the mix-ins are distributed evenly. I've had the machine for 4 months, and have used it at least once a week. Highly recommended."

great ice cream maker

"works great, makes great ice cream - the volume capacity seems a bit small - I like that I dont have to keep a mixer bowl in my freezer for future use as is the case with the economy ice cream makers."

anyone can do it

Pros: easy, convenient
Cons: receipe book
"My adventure into ice cream making. Makes ice cream making a simple process. So far, mint/chocolate , strawberry and vanilla have been great hit. Takes about an hour in the machine.
Even made the frozen margarita, a bigger hit than expected. No one wanted to beer, it did take an hour to make 4 glasses. Not for a big party for sure.
one negative, the manufacture did not include the recipe book. First ice cream I made by looking up for a recipe on line. Later I found that the recipe book is available on line only, and no pictures and I am less than impressed with the recipe book. For a machine that cost almost $300, I would have expected a hard bound colorful recipe book."

Non cold ice cream

"I am going to be returning. After trying several previously successful recipes - not one of them turned into ice cream. In fact the machine churned for over an hour and still no ice cream. I guess I will go back to the bowl you put in the freezer that works in 20 minutes and you end up with ice cream."

arrived broken

Model Number: IMC 15LS
"I thought I had researched this product before purchasing and it did look good. It arrived very well packed and it looked fine, I made my ice cream and turned on the machine. the compressor worked fine cooling to -25 degrees but the mixer did not move at all . Just a clicking noise. Luckily I had my old freezer so my ice cream mix didn't go to waste. After cleaning, I could hear loose parts moving inside. It went back to the store the next day!"

Makes excellent ice cream

Model Number: ICM 15LS
"Had it for a week now - made three batches - super indulgent triple chocolate, low cal chocolate, and mango sherbet - all came out excellent (unfortunate for my waistline). Worked quickly, producing great results in 30 to 60 minutes depending on the temperature of the starting batch.
The negatives: takes up too much counter space - 10" x 15" footprint and both front and back have vents so should not be located with its back against wall or another appliance, relatively small 6 cup capacity, and quite noisy, temp display is not of the ice cream, the automatic cooling only mode that kicks on after the icecream is made is too cold - the sherbet became rock hard."
