Professional look, excellent value !

Pros: real wood, profesional look, quality material, fairly easy to put up with a bit of patience, customizable, 16 inch width
Cons: could do with slightly better instructions
Model Number: John Louis Home 16" Woodcrest Closet Organizer
"We were looking for a replacement closet system after the original basic system which was installed by the builders failed. Found this on Costco and read the comments from the other reviewers on the site which was very helpful. Then I check other comments from other web sites and also went to John Louis's own web site to do more research. Also checked out the systems from other well known vendors but they looked cheap and were not made from wood.
After all this research, I was fairly confident that what I was buying would be of a high quality and would look good as well as be durable. We ordered two systems to fill a large walk-in wardrobe. They arrived within one week, much earlier than the committed shipment time. The boxes are heavy since this is made of real wood, not like other systems and we could not be happier with the quality look and feel.
You would need to have some ability at DIY in order to put this up. but it is not difficult. It just takes patience to work out the plan to customize it to your wardrobe space. Unless your closet is a fixed width of 6, 8 or 10 feet wide, you will invariably have to customize it one way or another (by cutting the shelf lengths etc) to fit. I would guess that 90% of people would need to customize it. However, it is not difficult to do if you have some DIY experience.
The prep work in terms of finding the studs (using a good stud finder) and deciding on the height to place the towers and shelving takes a big chunk of time. Assembling the units is the easy part. Making sure they are level is the next biggest task. Instructions could do with a bit more detail but they are sufficient, not like the really bad ones from a well known company specializing in self assembled furniture products. The nails, fastenings, accessories are of a high quality. They are not going to break and also you will find that the there are no parts missing. A good company pays attention to there kinds of details since there is nothing more frustrating than having to call up the company to get a missing part and delaying the project as a result. The packaging did its job very well. We were expecting some parts to be dented or broken, but the packaging was well designed to protect the parts - well done.
Another plus of this system is the fact that it is 16 inches wide - most systems are only 12 inches. Plus it appears you can buy other accessories to add to the system from John Louis. You can also get it from other vendors, but we found this to be cheaper from Costco, plus we trust Costco in case there was any probem with the product and had to return it.
We are very pleased with the finished product which gives the wardrobe an expensive feel at a fraction of a professionally installed system. After having done this and knowing how easy it is to build a closet system, we will probably replace the closet systems in the other rooms eventually."

Exceptional Quality

Pros: quality, configurable
"We purchased this product in Carmel based on outstanding reviews from other sites to fill an enormous 18 foot by 10 ft closet in our new house. The product arrived in about 4 business days which was amazing. It was well packaged with no damaged or missing components/ hardware. The quality is exceptional, even the drawers are velvet lined. It does take a lot of time to put this together - we are pretty handy (know how to use a level, a drill and measuring tape). We put together about 1 1/2 sets of these in a 16 foot closet space. It took 2 of us about 10 hours between us. We definitely got faster as we went since we didn't have to rely on the directions for subsequent components. This is very configurable and we made up our configuration with 2 towers next to each other and shelves on both ends. It takes a long time, but the end result is a professional looking closet. A quote from another do it yourself website came in at 10X the cost and it wasn't even real wood. We plan to purchse 1 addiitonal set and a separate tower which I'll use for shoes to do my side of the closet. I suspect we can put the next closet in in about 1/2 the time. We didn't use a laser level the first time, but borrowed one for the second time around which should make drawing the plum line even faster. I would definitely recommend this exceptional product!"

Phenomenal product!

Pros: beautiful, strong, functional
Cons: soft wood is somewhat easy to gouge
"We bought John Louis Home closet organizer systems last year (not from Costco though) for our new house, and they are great! You need to take your time to install them with care (use a laser level to locate anchor/screw points, mount the tower sides and rods into wall studs, etc), but they have held up perfectly for a year and a half. Ours are in red mahogany finish, but otherwise it's the same product. Totally customizable for any configuration you, and you can get additional pieces from other sellers to add shelves, rods, drawers (very nice!!), and "cabinet doors" to the basic organizer system too."
