Peace of mind

Pros: easy online registration
Cons: none
"With this purchase and Costco's 2 year warranty you get a five years of worry free service. That is less than the price of one service call to have a repairman diagnose what is wrong."

SquareTrade Delivers

Model Number: 3 Years (For TVs: $500 to $1,000)
"I've purchased SquareTrade warranties for most of my major electronics purchases over the past 3 years. On the rare occasion that I've needed to file a claim, they've delivered as promised with minimal effort on my part.
I look at it as assurance that my new 60" TV will last for at least the next 5 years. For the price, this is a hard deal to beat."

Good price, if they stay in business

"$59 to extend a 60" Vizio TV priced at $979 to five years is clearly a bargain. My only hesitation is that this price is so far below what other extended warranty companies charge that I have to wonder if they will still be in business in five years if they have an excessive number of claims. However, the most you can lose is $59.00, so it's probably not worth worrying about. I would buy the warranty just because it's so inexpensive. Normally I recommend against them due to their high price and low probability of being used, so this is an exception for me.
On the positive side, because you are buying it from Costco, it's likely that they would make it right if Square Trade did go out of business and you needed coverage from them."

Why register a warranty?

Pros: time is my money
Cons: painful
Model Number: 47" TV
"This warranty requires you to call SquareTrade and confirm you bought it. SquareTrade then sends you an e-mail requiring you to set up a password and online register your product. If you have time to deal with all that and need 100% assurance about life then this is for you. Otherwise forget it."

THEY PERFORM

"I've purchased Squaretrade over the years. Not every time, but once in a while for items like this. They are usually the least expensive, but what really matters is how they handle claims. Based on my experience, they handle claims quickly and efficently."

Wait and see

Pros: future insuracnce
Cons: could be over priced it the technology changes.
"I'll have to wait two years before i can rate this. Then we'll see if the TV is working. Hope the technology doesn't change to much."

Great TV

Model Number: M3D470KD
"So Far so good. We have been checking out new TVs for some time now. We have a 55'' projection tv that is a Sony that we purchased over 10 years ago and it just died. We needed to size down so we checked out this Vizio. The picture quality is great and we have only read good things about Vizio. The extra protection is a plus. We hope that the Vizio lasts as long as the Sony."

Comfort from Coverage

Pros: great bargain if needed, comfort of having set repairs covered.
Cons: waste of money if not needed
Model Number: Vizio E472VL
"What can you say about an extended warranty? Hope it doesn't have to be used but comforted by the fact that you purchased one. From program description, a person could not ask for a better bargain if it has to be used. If it is not used, what is the price for comfort and security of knowing that the set will be fixed or replaced with minimum fuss."

No Brainer

Pros: in house repairs
Cons: ????
"3 added yrs of protection-all parts and labor- in your home for $20 a yr......why wouldn't you get this? I usually avoid the extended warranties retailers offer because they offer little value, but this is phenomenal."

Toshiba HDTV

Model Number: 46UL6054
"So far so good!
I'm happy happy with my TV so far.
I've only had it a week.
Technology is not my strong point! Setting it up wasn't too bad but my cousin had to help me.

This is a terrific deal

Model Number: ELEFC461
"Getting a 5 year in home warranty from Costco and then through Square trade gives you peace in knowing that you won't have to take the big screen down and try to transport it anywhere if there is a mechanical issue. If anytime the Television can't be repaired you receive a refund is just the insurance I need.
There really is no exposure.

good info but untested as yet

Pros: sounds great, easy to sign up
Cons: none known for now
"The advertising is great and signup is easy but the true test will be if I ever need it, which I hope I don't. I will evaluate it more if I ever need to use it."

Great Protection

Pros: no problems with this
Cons: my three years began at date of purchase!
Model Number: HP C-8180
"Purchased this protection for an HP printer that went bad after 2 yrs and about 10 months. No problems, no unreasonable requests. These people just sent us our purchase price with no questions asked! This is the best warranty service I have had in my life and I am 73 yrs young! I recommend this without reservation. We have several other items protected here also."

Happy I Purchased It

Pros: good to feel your covered
Cons: did get any warranty paperwork
"Had a problem with the new TV that was delivered as soon as it was turned on. I am really happy I purchased the added protection on it. Would have liked some paperwork showing I have an extended warranty."

Should be better with Costco muscle

Pros: affordable, costco
Cons: difficult custom service
Model Number: Extend warranty
"I have used square trade on 2 items. In both cases the fine print excluded them from paying. I suspect they will push back ( as the always do) but with Costco muscle the warrant should be honored. I would not hesitate to get one through Costco."

Won't know for sure until I have to use it!

Model Number: 3 Years Extra Warranty ($500 - $1,000)
"Square Trade has a very good reputation. The prices are well below manufacturers extended warranties and less that other third party warranty companies. The only reason I don't give them a "5" star rating is, "until you personally have to use it, how do you know how good you think their coverage is?""
