Received as a gift through mail

Pros: beautiful plant, drought resistant
"This plant was wrap very carefully when I opened it. The pot and base were wrapped in plastic as to not allow the dirt to fall out. It had beautiful leaves. I received the plant in October and the leaves turned brown and fell. I thought it was dying but this is the regular cycle of the plant like all trees. Leaves fell during the fall and it sprouted new ones in the spring. I still haven't seen any flowers or ornament fruit come out yet. It would be great to. When I water this plant I soak it 24hrs in a bowl of fertilized water filled just below the rim of the pot. I also keep it outdoors but bring it indoors when it's below 40 degrees."

Looks promising

"I've had the plant about a week, my first bonsai. It arrived well packaged and securely wrapped so the plant was firmly in its container. It has some yellow leaves with black spots that fall off. It also has some signs of new growth, which seems promising. Not sure if it's normal for bonsais to have such hard soil."

"I am sad to say I purchased this as a gift and it died within two weeks. Costco is sending a new one, it's just too bad it was a gift."

"The plant is dying within 2 weeks from purchase....I followed tall the direction, but I think it came with some kind of disease.
Maybe the trees reacted to all the foam it came in with. It wasn't be best choice for a plant...considering I don't know how many days they are in transit."

Hold off

Cons: tree is dying
"I have long wanted one these, and when they came up for sale, I leaped at the chance. Too bad. When it arrived the ornamental flowers had been snipped off of all the branches. To add insult to injury the tree is not responding well at all to the directions for care. : ( Do not recommend. Go to a nursery where you can work with someone who knows"
