A Lot of Work but Looks Good!

Pros: the appearance
Cons: no instructions or plans included for ramp, assembly time, all pre-primed trim has one edge of exposed osb
Model Number: 19235-7
"I’m a weekend DIY’er and I built the shed by myself. It took me much longer than the listed assembly time. I am very pleased with the fit, finish and appearance of the completed shed. I had to replace 6 pieces of lumber due to them being warped. I spent $350 on supplies and materials that were not included in the kit. I have a minor complaint and recommendation- For shipping purposes no piece of lumber is longer than 8 feet therefore the 12 foot sections of wall plates must be toe nailed together. I recommend buying 6 12 foot 2X4's and cut to size. Also, the full back edge of the final gable truss is exposed to the elements and is not made of treated lumber."

Pros: good material. easy up.
Cons: should come with treated lumber for floor.
"This is the second shed that we have orderd from Costco. The 1st one is in the mountains, still looks like the day we put it up! With stands heat and snow, this one is up on builders blocks. The new shed we poured a cement floor. Went up with no problems."

Great value

Model Number: 19235-7
"I ordered this shed on-line and was told it would be 3-4 weeks for delivery; however, the company called and actually delivered it in less than two weeks.
We had pre-built the foundation, including treated 4x4's for the base. These made the floor very sturdy. All the parts were well labeled and no parts were missing. For the most part the directions were clear and accurate with good illustrations. It also noted special warnings and helpful hints. I'd rate the instructions a 9.5 out of 10.
My only complaint was that a few of the 2x4's were bowed and/or twisted.
It took my wife and I 2+ days to build and would be difficult for someone who didn't have good construction knowledge.
All in all we are very pleased with the shed. It looks great and is a solid product.

Better than expected

Pros: well made, complete directions, economically smart
Cons: none
Model Number: 19235-7
"After looking into spending almost $3,000 on similar shed I decided to take a chance on the Everton knowing that Costco has yet to let me down with one of their products. I am pleased to say, their record remains unblemished. The shed looks amazing. It took a good day to put it together with three able bodies. I took the time to level the ground and support and I do think that helped in making the project the success it was. The materials were well labeled and all accounted for. The directions were not perfect, but better than most. Tomorrow I will be shingling and painting and I expect the end result to be better than the $3000 shed I considered buying. I recommend this shed to all who need a great storage area who is not willing to spend the extra cash when you are capable of doing it yourself."

Lots of Work

Pros: nice shed, sturdy & heavy duty
Cons: a lot of work to assemble
"The assembly of this item is very detailed and is a lot of work. Unless you have a considerable amount of time and are reasonably handy I suggest paying the service company to set it up. If you set it up yourself follow the directions (see the manual) to the T."

Great shed

Pros: thorough instructions and good details in diagram.
Cons: can't think of one!
"I spent more time deciding on what type of shed to buy than actually assembling this one. I took my time and assembled the shed without assistance, over 2 weekends. The kit was missing some nails - called Everton and was offered reimbursement if needed right away or they would send them pronto."

where's the roof?

Pros: it's a nice part shed.
Cons: we will need a truck and $ to buy roof materials.
Model Number: 11672496
"We've looked and assumed that the roof was accidentally not delivered. Then we saw the words "roof not included." Boy, were we fooled by the beautiful pic of a cute shed with a roof on the internet. You should really let others know that the roof in the picture is not in the plastic wrap delivery!"

Love it!

Pros: feels like it will last a long time!, was able to add additional overhead storage.
Cons: roofing materials not included
Model Number: 19235-7
"I purchased this shed after reviewing many online and in store products. My dad was trying to get me to lean towards a plastic shed because of maintenance, but I had my heart set on a wood shed. Which I am glad I did as I am very satisfied with the purchase. The delivery arrived on time which was a plus. I'm a single Mom and although mechanically inclined and love to "build" things, there is no way I could have built this product on my own. The end product is wonderful I extended the top shelf out which doubled the overhead storage (this would not have been possible with a plastic or metal shed). If the roofing materials were included that would have been even better. Although there are cheaper sheds, you definitely get what you pay for and I’m glad I spent the extra money. My only regret is that I didn't buy a bigger shed."

If I can do it...

Pros: anyone who can read can follow the instructions, straightforward design., great support from yardline
Cons: some poor material
Model Number: Everton 8' x 12' Wood Storage Shed
"Delivery was delayed slightly because the shed had be truck delivered from 180 miles away. The delivery guys were nice but dropped the package from about 3-4 feet causing minor damage to a couple of the roof panels but nothing catastrophic. I did call Yardline and they helpfully provided options for replacement if needed. Per the instructions I added floor joists for 12" on center as I am parking a lawn tractor and other equipment inside. Flooring panels were 3/4" OSB and pretty low quality. Many of the surface "wafers" or thin pieces of wood, were unstable and actually delaminated and came off when I painted the floor. Working by oneself makes the project a lot more difficult, especially raising walls, building and setting trusses, etc. I did employ my wife to assist with the roofing panels as I could not figure out a way to do it by myself. I'd suggest having a helper for those portions if you can as it would really speed things up. I'd guess that it took about 45-50 hours total time, not counting the roofing and I haven't painted it yet over the course of a couple weeks.
Construction was pretty straight forward and the instructions were fairly easy to understand, though I had to read some of them a couple times to make sure I understood. I did make a few mistakes and had to some minor "deconstruction" with the roof panels as the "squaring up" instructions didn't turn out as described. One side of the roof ended up being out of square but I'll accept responsibilty for that. I ended up hiring a roofing contractor to put the shingles on which saved what was left of my back and well worth the hundred bucks he charged. Took his crew about 2 hours, working in the rain.
All in all, not a really complex project and if I can do it just about any ambulatory person probably could. I would reccommend a framing nailer and a finish nailer though you'll still have to hand pound a few. Cosco actually sells a combo pack. If you do get one plan on spending additionally for nails and extra screws. The only bad wood I got was for the shelving so it's a little "wonkey".
Four stars for the less than perfect delivery, chinzy flooring, and bad shelf lumber.

Good Value and a fun project!

Pros: price, clear instructions, detailed pictures
Cons: vent locations don't come pre-cut
Model Number: Everton 8X12
"We built this shed less paint in 19 hours over three days with four people and a lot of goofing off. 4 of those hours were to shingle the roof. Plan on purchasing extra screws to add to all areas to make this shed last for life. And we added 4x4's to the floor. It was a fun family project!"

best value on the market!

Pros: doors are nifty the faux strap hinges provide, nice look and the loft rocks!
Cons: none other than caulking & painting on me!
Model Number: costco #632047
"Okay folks, been in the market for several months and wisely compared; very pleased with the product and Costco service who always stand behind their products. Suggest reading the reviews and calling Yardline with questions--they're helpful. Prepare your site well.
Highly recommend opting for delivery & installation-Roy from Yardline did an excellent job-turnkey operation which will be very serviceable. Also had the ridge vent installed, the trim & eaves provide an attractive look

Good deal

Pros: good looking at a good price
Cons: floor sheeting should be thicker
"Good deal. Purchased this shed for my cabin in Lake Tahoe. Foundation was Railroad ties on dirt. Added wood in many places due to the snow load and after calling factory in Michigan (nice folks) they claimed shed good for 20-25 lbs per sq/ ft. So extra wood in floor to make it 12" O.C. Walls 16" O.C. and added more rafter to make it 16" O.C.
Total time including foundation to painting was 52 hrs. My son helped which was necessary and his time is included. We used a nail gun as much as possible. Most of the wood was usable. But have extra 2x4's on hand.
I thought the manuals were easy to follow, but look through the whole thing first. Also, check "You Tube" for roofing video first. That was the weakest step we did as we never hung a shingle before. Good luck and have fun. Don't stress it !

Be Carefull

Pros: cheap, good material
Cons: you will spend more $$$$ to finish, high skills required
Model Number: Everton 8' x 12' Wood Storage Shed
"This not a shed is not for everyone. Don’t be fooled being handy is not enough to build this shed. You must be a builder. The direction must have been written by someone whose is an expert, written for experts. The illustrations are poor and hard to follow. The directions are a joke.
Not all items are included or cut to exact shape. Some panels and wood warped.
I quickly realized it’s a project much bigger than I can handle, so I hired someone, but that’s not all you must buy material for the foundation, shingles, siding, caulking, nails, etc net net be ready to spend another $1000. I spent $150 for foundation, $350 for shingles and roofing material, about $100 for misc, and the person who helped me in install I had to pay him $400
I regret this whole project and will never ever do that again. If you know what you’re doing, it’s worth it if you’re not a builder. FORGET IT

there are better options

Pros: you don't need a saw
Cons: a poor design
Model Number: 596416
"Now that I’ve finished assembling the shed I can say unequivocally that I would not recommend buying this shed. The design and the kit leave much to be desired. A better option is a local lumber yard that can put a rough design into an autocad program and deliver all the needed materials.
One first notices that all the panels are made of OSB (oriented strand board). OSB can be stronger than plywood, but like particle board its durability is dependent on the glue holding the wood fibers together, thus it must be protected from water. This explains why to validate the warranty the owner is required apply a minimum of two coats of paint within thirty days of assembly, to caulk above all doors and all horizontal and vertical trim boards, paint and seal all exposed edges, sides and faces of the siding including all exterior walls and all sides and all edges of doors. There are enough loopholes in the warranty to render it useless to the buyer.
The directions are relatively good, although being printed on half pages with small type I needed to fish out my reading glasses whenever I wanted to consult them. The part identification letters were stamped on only a few of the 2x4s so printing that, for example, the left wall frame requires 7 UM, 2 YF and 2 TM pieces, was not really helpful. One has to measure each piece.
Once the walls are erected one quickly recognizes the drawbacks of “nominal” 6 foot walls. The door opening is only 69 ½ inches high. I’m 73 inches tall, so I have to learn to duck through the door. Also, the bottom of the 2x4s supporting the loft are only 71 inches from the floor, so I would have to bend over to access the back 1/3 of the shed if I had installed the loft. The shed would be more useful and comfortable if the walls were a foot higher, and why not 8 feet since the siding comes in that length?
The “steep roof pitch” that provides “styling” also makes installing the roof panels and shingling a bit precarious.
The materials not provided in the kit amounted to about one-third of my total cost; foundation - $70, screws, nails, caulk and glue - $50, shingles and felt - $200, paint - $100. If you want gutters add another $120.

Good, and takes longer

Pros: excellent instructions, good materials
Cons: some minor materials issues., doing it in two days is questionable
Model Number: Everton Gable 8 x 12
"Overall, I'm happy with this purchase.
The product was delivered in a very tight, space-efficient bundle. To begin to work with it you need to spread out the materials. This brings up my first issue: construction takes a lot of open, flat space. The package comes in a way which probably serves efficiency of transportation, but not efficiency of use. Materials are, for example, not utilized in a "top-down" fashion. The first materials used are actually in the middle of the package.
Overall, the amount of space needed to construct the shed is 2-3 times the area of the shed itself. The original materials package takes up space. The materials need to be spread out in order to be retrieved for identification and use. And several large sections of materials need to be put aside while others are being constructed. So, be sure you have a good deal of flat, open space.
The materials are of good quality. They were largely in very good shape. The studs are from very soft pine (revealed in screws easily stripping out and easy overdriving by a nail gun). The materials are largely sized well, although some 2x4's were 1/8-3/16 short. Identifying the correct parts from the many parts is relatively straight-forward although there are a few instances where you need to be sure you have the right part. My materials came with a moderate amount of mold in the package (probably due to the mosture from the treated wood, insufficiently dried). A few boards had quite a bit of long-axis twist, which creates some construction problems. (I used a large, long quick-clamp to grab the wood and exert an axial twist to line things up better.)
The instructions for construction are excellent. I particularly like the very clear notation of critical measurements, helping to avoid construction errors. I should note that the contruction instructions span 75 pages. Four eight-hour work days (2 people x 2 days) consists of 1920 minutes. Divided by 75 pages this comes to about 26 minutes per page average. Within this time you would need to retrieve the materials for each page, place them on a flat surface, square them all up (and resquare as the pieces are put together), deal with any lumber problems (such as twisted boards), and drive all the fasteners (which may include 60-90 nails for a single page of instuctions). If I had a large, flat factory floor, a framing nail gun, very easy ways to square things up, and prior experience building this shed (to know where the "issues" will be) then two days might be achievable. To be sure, I typically take longer than usual because I'm pretty meticulous. The instructions show two people only being needed for a few of the steps, but to accomplish this in two days you would need two people all the time - with one retrieving, squaring, and holding things while the other drives nails or screws. I am doing most of this all by my self, with help only on the parts which indicate two people in the instructions. This is one reason it is taking me much longer than two days.
By the way, I did buy a framing nail gun to speed up this process. Driving the nails (or screws) by hand, without the benefit of jigs, means things tend to get out of position with each blow of the hammer - thus requiring re-squaring.
The instructions show the image of a builder standing on studs (placed on a flat surface) to hold them in place for nailing. This is fine in theory, and certainly does help, but it is not quite as foolproof as they might suggest. The materials still move when being hammered, requiring re-squaring. And, where the material is imperfect (such as a rounded corner on a stud, or twisted 2x4) then it is easy to have the material fall over while you are trying to stand on it and hit the attaching piece with a hammer. (Again, a nail gun is very handy, though be very cautious about nailing toward your foot!)
After completing the side walls you'll need to move them. However, they have a joint where the two 2x4s constituting the top and bottom of the wall are joined along the length of the wall. If the wall is not picked up quite carefully this joint could be caused to break. So, I added mending plates across this joint for added strength during the process of moving.
Moving the completed side walls involves quite a bit of weight and a 12 foot long span. While my wife and I did do it, she is pretty buff and she is comfortable with physical tasks. Even so, it was an insecure process which could easily get "out of hand". Likewise, moving the side walls into place on the floor (for joining of the walls, requires not only strength but also significant care that the wall doesn't fall over (don't do this in a wind!).
Well, I haven't finished the project yet, but I thought these perspectives may be of use to others considering purchase. Would I buy this unit again? Yes. I believe I would. The instructions are excellent and the materials are good (as these things go). I suspect the cost is a relatively good value (partly trusting in Costco). I'm retired so I have quite a bit of time. Be sure to have lots of flat, clean space!
I have considerable trust in Costco; so, I suspect this shed company has a reasonable reputation compared to its competitors. (I've never built a shed before, although I've built lots of things and have a great many tools - now even a framing nail gun!)
I will not finish this project two days (working alone except for where the instructions indicate two people). I supposed if I had done this before (maybe more than once), and had a large, clean factory floor to assemble the shed on, and had jigs to aid in squaring things rapidly, then I might be able to get this done (with a handy nail gun) in a couple of days. But without those and fulltime assistance I can't come close to two days."

Don't plan on hiring a carpenter to build this!

Pros: can't beat the price
Cons: back wall is a complete hack of construction...
"We purchased this shed planning for me to build it. Never got around, so that we decided to hire some "carpenters" to build it. DISASTER! This shed does not follow too many traditional construction principal, and carpenters will try to skip steps thinking "they know".. but they don't. If you follow the steps it's easy, I ended directing them, while reading the manual. Sort all pieces on the ground first (as instructed btw), label the one that are not, and it will make a world of difference."

Very nice for the cost

Pros: quality, price
Cons: time
"We tend to build things as projects much like a hobby and are very familiar around plans and tools. That said, we were very impressed with the quality of the building after fabrication. We built it to use as a potting shed for my wife. It took us (my wife and I) 2 weekends, but we didn't work like dogs at it. We also poured a concrete flooring. Some changes we made, which goes to several other reviewers comments on plan to spend additional monies, included changing the nails to non-rusting screws, added a few additional studs, and then finished with caulk, painted, shingled, etc. The point is, it would help if you had at least some building experience (we noted a few had little to none and had somewhat negative things to say) and knew you would be adding another 500 plus worth overall to the cost. Still, this building is rock solid on a concrete base and will last 20 plus years maintained. The instruction book was particularly good enough that I feel someone with limited building experience could build this as long as they stayed with the exact instructions, weren't in a hurry, and had the proper tools. A good value for a shed."

An Autumn Project

Model Number: 19235-7
"Me and two friends did this on the hottest Saturday of the summer. It took us all day and we finished everything except for finishing the roof. I recommend using more screws and less nails. We had a few warped 2x4's that we had to manipulate. I would have prefered to have had 3/4" plywood for the floor."
