JBL® On Air Wireless Speaker System for iPod® and iPhone®

The JBL® On Air wireless speaker system with AirPlay technology lets you stream all your iTunes songs (and Internet radio), directly from your computer, over your home’s existing Wi-Fi or Ethernet network. Navigate with Apple’s free Remote app on your iPhone or iPod Touch device. See album artwork and track info on an eye-popping display. Three transducers, 360-HALO acoustics: Desktop sound systems usually can’t produce a sound field with distinct stereo imaging and depth. But On Air’s unique HALO (horizontal acoustic level optimization) design creates rich, full-spectrum JBL® sound across a wide listening area. You won’t believe your ears or your eyes. Proprietary DSP technologies: Enjoy maximum sound quality and output under any listening conditions. Computer-optimized equalization (COE) creates a soundstage larger and richer than other systems of this size can. Optimized compression topology (OCT) adjusts the dynamic range for clear, low-distortion sound. Breakthrough bright color LCD screen: JBL® On Air is the world’s first AirPlay speaker to display album artwork and track metadata on a bright color screen. See what you’re hearing in a choice of five languages, with auto or manual brightness control. Loaded AM/FM, RDS, 10 presets, more: You’ll have 10 station presets and easy access to your favorite music, news and talk radio. There’s a clock with seven independent alarms. Wake at different times in different ways: The radio, the buzzer or your music, with artist, album and track information on the LCD display. Easy connectivity to nearly anything: The JBL® On Air connects to all docking versions of iPod and iPhone devices (and charges them while docked). An auxiliary source stereo 3.5mm jack connects to MP3 and CD players. And a USB port plays music from flash storage devices and enables firmware updates. Powerful IR remote: Credit-card-sized remote controls all JBL® On Air functions (power on/off, volume, mute, play, pause, skip, repeat) from up to 15 feet (4.5m) away. JBL On Air Wireless

Cons: wireless a choke!
"I love JBL product very much, but this product isn't up to standard..... Wireless mode a/g is outdated and can't placed it more than 10 ft away from wireless router. I've ASUS 750 model router, dual band and still this JBL model signal constantly dropping.
Im going to return to Costco. Hopefully, Costco stops selling it, waist of time.
DO NOT BUY IT !!!!!!!!"

Best Brand & Best Store to buy from

Pros: jbl quality best sound and slick design
Cons: none
Model Number: JBL" On Air Wireless Speaker System for iPod" and iPhone"
"As a 22 year JBL employee here in Northridge I can say how much effort and work goes into design and manufacturing process of any JBL product. JBL ON AIR is no exception; it has awesome sound, cool options and a slick look. I have Infinity and JBL in every room of my house and will not change anytime soon!"

Great Deal

"Price was right so I bought two of them. Easy setup, easily acquired wireless signal, looks smart and sounds great. What's left? Easy to stream great sounding music from I-pad and I phone."

Poor Product

Cons: does not work
"Returned this product the same day to the local costco store. The Wi-Fi connection is always weak. All my other devices like iPad and iPod seems to have the appropriate number of bars when connected, but this device placed 15 ft away shows one bar and 2 bars when placed next t the wireless router. As a result, there is constant drop in sound when playing music through the airplay speakers. Sometimes, it just hangs and need to physically plug it out. Also, there is lag between when I click the controls on play, pause and when the unit responds. Reading the product reviews, will try out Blue-tooth technology for the wireless speakers which seems more reliable than connecting through Wi-Fi. I am extremely disappointed with this product and recommend Costco discontinue to sell this poor non-functional product."

Don't waste your money

Pros: great features (if they worked), nice modern design
Cons: unreliable, doesn't work properly, should have slightly higher volume capabilities.
Model Number: JBL OnAIr Wireless
"This thing is a piece of garbage. I had really high hopes with the wireless Airplay feature, but it let me down. I have a great internet connection with both a high speed modem and great wireless router however, it kept dropping songs 20 seconds into the song. It also would shut down all by itself if you left it on for more than an hour. I got all of the software upgrades, and it still didn't work properly. Thank God Costco has a great return policy. Save your money and buy something else."

Good Deal

Pros: remote, fm radio, lightweight, clock
Cons: no battery back up, not as powerful as others, no eq
"For the price it is a good product. Doesn't "crank" like the Kicker series but does have fm radio which is a bonus. Works fine in a room or by a pool. Loud enough for the average listener whose not looking to shake the room. No EQ but does have a remote. Haven't tried the "Air Play" feature but for the price, remote and Fm radio plus other features its an all around good buy."

Overpriced, malfunctioning clock radio

Cons: stopped working altogether after few months, airplay feature fickle from start, clunky design, remote only works within inches, complicated user interface, not portable only works with mains adaptor
"Buyer beware! This product is a huge let down.
The air play feature seemed to be working only on a random basis from the beginning.
On the rare occasions air play was working, the unit would not let you shut it off anymore. It also wouldn't reconnect without a reboot.
Furthermore it pretty much shut down my whole WiFi.
After a few months it didn't start up at all anymore, the screen just froze.Firmware update? Negative.
The sound is okay, but nothing to write home about. As a simple clock radio, it's just not worth the price. Period!"

Good Price on Good Speaker!

Pros: sound quality, price, airplay, design, quality
Cons: why didn't i do this sooner!
Model Number: On Air Wireless Speaker Dock
"Pulled it out of the box, plugged it in, put my iPhone onto it and started enjoying the music! Even though I've got it stuck in a cubby hole, it sounds like stereo surround sound. My taste in office music is classical so I'm always skeptical of speakers. I think the biggest compliment is when my boss walked in and couldn't believe his ears. He likes the design and the sound it produces, too. I've already talked to the office manager where to get one. All this in less than 30 minutes of receiving it!
The only con- it took me a few minutes to figure out hot to use AirPlay from iTunes (look in the lower right hand corner for the button). Wished I had purchased this sooner!"

Complicated & temperamental

Pros: design
Cons: still some bugs in the technology
"Not too difficult to set up and connect to wifi, but unable to select songs via the wireless speaker. Also the display sometimes will display the current time and sometimes just the music logo.
It is going back to Costco

Over rated, good design poor engr

Model Number: JBL on air Wireless, Air Play Speaker
"Not true Wireless, only wireless for ITunes purchased songs, thru ITunes software. Not designed (modified) for IPhone, a taller device then IPod, doesn't seat well for either, often "doesn't recognize inserted device. Speakers have volume but not good quality sound and no controls for base etc, no back up power loses some settings. Not a good value for the money. Returning mine to Costco. Bad review posted on my blog. Great disappointment..."

Pros: wireless, 12v
Cons: wall wart trasnsformer, does not sit flat, bass distortion or rattle, blocks some controls on iphone, warranty "voided" if phone is skinned
"Love the way this works, but many cons in the details . . . such as the manual states waranty void if socket guide is not used, but the guide will not fit a skinned phone, plus there is so little clearance under the circle that that a skinned phone wouldn't fit anyway. Using it without the included adaptor is possible, but no matter how configured top switch is blocked."

Good Sound at a Good Price

"For the size it has nice sound and a nice look. Can be a little hard to configure but once that's over it keeps its settings even after being unplugged. It's also a little snug to get an iPhone in and out of the space below the circle. Otherwise the Airplay works great and the sound is very good."

JBL® On Air Wireless kept getting disconnect

Cons: the unit freeze after few hours of constant work
Model Number: JBL® On Air Wireless Speaker System for iPod® and iPhone®
"At first I like it, but after I used for few hours and days I noticed that the device kept disconnecting from my WIFI network
I checked my network to make sure that was not the problem, indeed the network was working just fine.
Later I noticed that even if I sat my IPHONE 4 on the docking port the device control panel locked after few hours, none of the bottoms on the console worked until I power down and up the unit.
So I decided to take it back to Costco.

So Far Pretty Good

"Good sound.
Easy to set up.
We have a multi-iphone, multi-ipad family, and the device works easily on 'air play' for all of them.
Good value
I dinged it for one star because it has had an occasional stop/skip in music playback -- I think it might be when an email comes into the phone, but I haven't figured it out yet."

Half Baked

Pros: looks cool, sounds good, here is a glimpse of the future
Cons: bugs, not intuitive to use
"This is a great concept - and I look forward to a more refined version. But it has too many flaws to consider keeping. For example, I can't get the alarm to shut off without turning the whole thing off. Then you have to go back in and reprogram the alarm. The wireless is cool but it keeps dropping off. Everything you do with this is a struggle. It's not intuitive, takes too much shuttling back and forth, and the system is slow to respond. I suspect they'll eventually get it right but unless you want to be the guinea pig, I would wait until they fix the bugs."
