Daytime image quality poor. Night quality awful.
Pros: lots of channels in the dvr (32), ability to add internal sata hard drives to expand
Cons: image quality, super noisy, archaic user interface
Model Number: QT4532 with 12 D1 cameras
"Knew there were mixed reviews on this but decided to give it a try anyway. It was a good learning experience, but quality is just not good enough to justify price and time to install and adjust. Will be returning for refund as soon as we can pack it up.
Although the 12 cameras are rated at D1 resolution, this 32 channel DVR can only record D1 on 4 channels, and then only at a reduced frames-per-second setting. But even on the few cameras that are setup to record at D1, the image quality is really subpar. And at night, they are just terrible.
Another thing we learned that might help other buyers has to do with remote viewing and recording from the computer. This is not done with a software application, but through a web browser. This is good because it makes it cross platform and we were able to set it up on a Mac running Safari, and use their free iPhone app. But the downside of this approach is that the image resolution coming through that network connection is CIF, which is only 25% of D1 quality. So what you get on a computer or smartphone is of even less quality than the already marginal signal that is actually recorded.
To see the maximum resolution of the cameras, and to see the actual resolution recorded by the DVR, one connects a computer monitor to the DVR VGA jack. One can also connect an HD television for viewing. But connecting a higher resolution monitor or TV won't improve the image quality.
The DVR comes with a mouse, and one does all the setup and playback using this mouse in a very archaic fashion. There is no real physical keyboard. So you need to point at things on the monitor using the mouse, and point at letters and numbers to enter text. Like I said, pretty archaic!
I know others mentioned the noise, and I can testify that it is much too loud to carry on a conversation near it. We had planned on moving it to a closet once we got it all setup, but since the quality is so awful we will simply return it and enjoy the quiet."

Expensive System
Pros: lots of cameras huge hard drive, fast customer service response, internet setup easy and fast, dvr easy to navigate/setup
Cons: included installation instructions are very vague., no instructions on how to focus cameras.
"I ordered this product on a Sunday, and just had it shipped regular ground. Got it the next day, Monday, which was very nice. Everything was packaged well and came with everything as advertised. This system is not for novice CCTV people, as the installation will take at least an entire day for a professional to install. The cameras were not as clear as I expected them to be, but as of this writing, I am still making adjustments, so its possible that will clear up and its not due to product manufacture (I hope). The DVR is huge, heavy, and the fans are loud, which I dont mind, but may be an issue for some. I emailed Q-See once already for customer service and got a response within an hour. My only real issue with this purchase was that there was almost no instructions that came with the system. Make sure you know CCTV installation or get someone who does know before you even start mounting cameras and running the cables. An included instructional manual would have been very nice."

Sharp Clear Picture
Pros: clear image, easy to use and back up
Cons: none
"The picture quality is beyond, what I could have hoped for. I own a couple small convenience stores and this unit has helped cut down on theft at my store. We have been able to provide the police with clear video and images to capture thieves on several occasions. I have printed images of people caught on tape stealing from me and have a wall of shame with the images posted, letting people know if you steal from me, you will end up on this wall and go to jail. The attempts to steal have been majorly reduced. The money I have saved from less theft has more then paid for this unit. I would tell anyone to buy a Q-See unit."

Definitely worth the price!
"I previously had a professionally installed Honeywell system. I was not happy with the Honeywell product.
This system was easy to install and easy to learn. The cameras provide an excellent picture.
Definitely worth the price!"

Waiting
Model Number: QT-4532
"I received the package last Tuesday. They forgot to add the Quick Start Guide, manuals, and DVD. I called and they were shipping a set of all. As of today, Monday still have not arrived. I did a basic setup of one camera. I'm going to need twelve power cord extenders, as all the cables will be too short to attach to the DVR and the power splitter box. The fan on the DVR is extremely noisy. The system is located on the second floor and you could hear it on the first floor. Maybe the manuals will explain the power cord setup."

Don't waste your time
Pros: price system size, it will let you know someone is there, works with mac
Cons: terrible resolution, not as advertised, the night vision is a tunnel view short distance
Model Number: Q-See Elite 32 Channel Security System with 2TB Hard Drive and 12 High-Resolution Cameras
"I took everything out of the two very heavy boxes and was very excited to get everything installed. I started up one of the "high resolution" 650 TVL cameras and was very disappointed. They said you could get facial recognition at 70 ft away--maybe 5-10 ft? Everything is extremely gritty and even when focused completely and the resolution is "highest" you wouldn't be able to get an ID on someone. Try an hd 1080 camera system or a 2.1+ megapixel camera."

great camera system
Model Number: QT4532
"This system is high quality at low cost. Customer Service is the best I have ever seen. I had a faulty cable, one out of twelve. I e-mailed them and had another in less than 36 hours. No problem, no hassle, no charge. I was having a problem with the soft ware and the online support with a woman named "Faith" was exceptional. The problem was confusion on my part not the product or instructions. She hung in there until we figured it out."

Review 8 for Q-See 32 Channel Security System with 2TB Hard Drive and 12 High Resolution Cameras
Pros: 32 channel dvr with d1 recoding, 2 tb hard drive included, the unit uses only 5 watts of power
Cons: none
Model Number: Model QT4532
"I purchased this DVR system after a few months of research and I knew I can't go wrong with COSTCO. This unit has a 2 TB HD and has expantions for 3 more hard drives. With 32 Channels on motions I get over a month of recording. The system is easy to setup and use, Customer Service at Q-see are amazing and answered all my questions. I am very happy with the unit. It can be monitored locally and remotely with a cell phone."
