Great slow cooker

Pros: easy to clean, large capacity
"This slow cooker is big - and you need to know that. Check your favorite recipes to be sure they're for large cookers, or plan to own this one and a smaller cooker.
Large capacity - Try this recipe for a 4 pound brisket. Mix 1 packet Lipton Onion Soup Mix, 1 cup tomato sauce, and 1 can of whole-berry cranberry sauce, slather on both sides of the brisket, cook 6-8 hours until tender, refrigerate overnight, and slice and eat the next day so the flavors can meld and you can skim the fat.
I've cooked 5 pounds of ribs in this, a 4 pound pork roast, a large batch of chili, cooked 8-12 chicken thighs.
But many recipes call for a smaller slow cooker, so be aware - this is too big for some recipes.
This is really easy to clean - the smooth ceramic insert soaks well, and after I've scrubbed it with a scrubber sponge I run it through the dishwasher. The lid goes in the d/w too.
You can change the temperature (low or high) or the timer while the slow cooker is running.
I haven't used the little dipper yet - probably great for dips and sauces."

Pros: good all-around slow cooker
Cons: none at this time
Model Number: Crock-Pot® 7-quart Programmable Slow Cooker
"I was looking for a larger slow cooker when I spotted the crock-pot seven qt on line with COSTCO. I have a couple others from Crock-Pot only smaller, 5-qt. Love this for the size because I can prepare large dishes, then again if you want a smaller dish or dinner just make half the amount. I see where other have written reviews complaining that it makes too much at once which doesn't make a lot of sense to me when all you have to do is reduce the amount that is being made. Anyhow love the way you can set the time and it counts down and then switches to warm. Would have bought another but COSTCO was sold out."

Not your grandmother's crockpot

Pros: large capacity, easy to clean, looks good, easy to operate
"I own several old crockpots, but wanted a large capacity one. This Crock-Pot 7-quart Programmable Slow Cooker is large, easy to clean, looks good, and is about as easy to use as it gets. The outside of the container does get hot pretty fast, but once you are accustomerd to that, it's great. The 16-ounce little dipper is a challenge to clean, but it is cute and great for hot dips, etc. I recommend this."

This thing is HUGE!

Pros: size
Cons: size
"Depending on your needs/perspective, the size of this thing can be a good, or a bad thing. For me as a single person, it's actually a bit of a drawback. To use a Crockpot properly, you need to fill it up to a certain point. That means I have to make a ton of food if I use this thing.
It is awesome for stew or cooking large pieces of meat.
You can easily program the temperature and time. It will switch to 'keep warm' mode once your time is up. My only requested addition would be to be able to program a couple of hours at high temp, followed by a few hours of low temp. Many Crockpot recipes call for this approach, but with this unit you need to be there to change the temperature. I'm not sure there are models that are as programmable as I'd like, but it's a request."

Why didn't I buy one sooner?

Pros: great price, crock comes out and is easy to clean.
Model Number: Crock-Pot® 7-quart Programmable Slow Cooker
"I hadn't had a slow cooker in many years and resisted buying one, until I realized how perfect it is for making my own chicken stock. I bought mine in the store at a great price and have already used it for beans and stew. Best of all I made a wonderful savory chicken stock last week and then I made a great soup from it. The crock comes out and is easy to clean. Very Happy with my purchase."

not as expected

Cons: took awhile to heat up and cook
"We ended up returning ours. After just a couple uses we noticed that there was a crack that was starting to appear. Plus it seemed to take a long time to really heat up and actually do some cooking. Now I am searching for another one. lid fit a little loose"
