Great performance for the price

Pros: image quality and colors, low price
Cons: low zoom
Model Number: Vivitek H1080FD
"I had this projector for 3 weeks now. Very happy with it. Stunning image quality and colors, really low price.
The only setback is its relatively low zoom. From a distance of 13', the maximum screen size is only 103"."

Solid Performer

Pros: easy set up, quiet, reasonably bright and sharp images
Cons: none so far
Model Number: Vivitek H1080FD
"Extremely good price for a 1080p resolution projector. Have the unit installed in a home theatre with a 120" screen with the projector ceiling mounted about 12 feet away. The image nearly fills the screen and is remarkably bright and sharp. Performance suffers if ambient light levels are too high, so a dim or dark viewing area is a must. Setup is a breeze - easy to follow menus guide you through the steps. The projector is quiet and is unobtrusive in operation. In all, a solid performer."

very good deal

Pros: lightweight and small, short throw makes bigger images
Cons: need a dark room, short throw might be a problem in large areas
Model Number: H1080FD
"It is quiet, good image quality, and brighter than I expected. A great bargain.
Looks good 10 feet wide . It has a relatively "short throw" (more than most projectors I looked at) meaning it makes a bigger image over a short distance than others (has a wide angle projections lens).
The mfgr web site has a really good tool to tell you how big the projected image will be if you know the distance from projector to wall, or reverse: if I want an image X size, how far should it be placed. Really valuable.
The amount of zoom is very small, but good for fine tuning to an exact size once you get the placement 95% right.
I did not go for the separate screen, and I'm happy projecting this on a wall .. which may say something about me.
This is good enough some may want this in their bedroom if you watch TV there, or kids play room if dark. Gamers will love this I think."

Nice unit, But.......

Model Number: Vivitek1080p
"So far we are "mostly happy" with the unit.
We are not happy with the "so called free " mount and screen!
The shipping and handling costs are insane!
The free screen costs way too much to ship. The mounting hardware can be purchased for much less at Costco than what they charge to ship you the free mount.
Very disappointed!

Good quality and value

Pros: brightness, low noise, easy setup
Cons: limited range of zoom
Model Number: Vivitek H1080FD
"I purchased this to replace my projector from Runco which broke down in 4 years. The repair would cost $1300 for just opening it, without assurance to fix. That projector cost $9K originally (I bought second hand with the purchase of the house). So much for buying stuff from this overpriced manufacturer.
For much less than the repair bill I would have to pay, I thought I just try this Vivitek H1080FD considering the advancement of technology. After using it for a month or so, I'd say that this is a good enough projector and better in some aspects than the pricy one. The light output is more than enough for my dedicated HT room (the previous projector was on the dim side because its 1000 lumen output). The other thing I really like is the low noise which is barely audible 3 feet away. On my 130' screen, the color and contract iapeared excellent to my untrained eye. Overall, I am very pleased about the purchase. The only thing I wish is that it provides more range for zoom. My HT room is deeper than the minimum distance of projection so I had to place it closer in stead of on the back wall."
