Nice Vacuum But Too Hard to Use!

Pros: well built, very powerful, great suction, carpet/floor settings, power settings, telescoptic handle
Cons: hose very stiff, doesn't swivel well, canister hard to roll, very heavy
Model Number: FC1000
" I was so excited and couldn't wait to get this vacuum. It had everything I was looking for, a Telescopic handle, Motorized head, carpet and floor height & power settings and plenty of attachments.
I have tile in my kitchen, laminate in my livingroom & hall, carpet in the bedrooms and several throw rugs. I also have 2 dogs and a cat that shed. My previous vac was a upright Eureka Petfinder. It worked well on my floors but not on my throw rugs. The hose was very short, wouldn't stay in it's holder and would snap back at me. It also blew the dirt and pet hair all over the place. It was worthless as far as vacuuming furniture and ceilings and I had to get down on my hands and knees to vacuum the throw rugs so I needed something that would do it all.
My review of the Oreck
First I want to say, this seems to be a very well built heavy duty vacuum and the suction is excellent! It doesn't look or feel cheap at all. The problem with this vacuum is the hose is too stiff making it awkward to maneuver around and the part where it connects to the base of the canister does not swivel very well. The hose could of also been a little longer, just doesn't seem to be quite long enough. The canister does not roll easy on the floor and you have to really tug on it to get it to move and it would get stuck on my throw rugs. As I mentioned before this IS a well built powerful vacuum and If it weren't for the stiff hose and rolling issue I would keep it but I have carpal tunnel and arthritis and it's just too much straining for me. So sadly I will be taking this one back to Costco. "

Really Like This Vacuum

" I wanted a canister vacuum for some time. I decided on the Oreck over the other ones on Costco because of the hand tools. And Costco has a good return policy so I knew if I didn't like I could return it. I am glad I picked this one. This vacuum has a lot of the same features has the pricier ones. Like: the motor filters, the bags, the HEPA filters, the hand tools on the canister, and power brush head. "
