too complicated and doesn't do what you need it to

"Phone is too complicated for my 89 mom to understand. The captions show up quite delayed so the person on other end would have to wait for them to read and respond. They sent note after we purchased that there is a new FDA law that the caption button had to be pushed every time before a call. You can't push the captions button on and expect it to continue showing captions for all calls. This means, if you push the captions button on, and you get 3 messages while you are out, it will only provide captions for the first call, then it shuts off and you were not there to push the captions button back on again. I think this defeats the purpose of this machine. Plus the captions are not always accurate to what they say. The display will light up that you have a message but if you have the time out switch on, it goes out and you will come home and not see it lit, so not suspect there is a message. I set the machine to have the display light on all the time, it said it saved it, and it still went out after 60 seconds, even with a new message announcment. That was enough, we are returning it."

Great item, check your state's program.

"installed a similar device for my nearly deaf mother. it is a godsend. many states have programs that will provide this device for free, income dependent, and the threshold is relatively high. internet access required, of course, but captioning is accurate. most will save dialogue for later review.
highly recommended.

Need to improve more!

"Very good idea for people who is not good communication in English. However, the manufacturer has to improve more than that.
1/ Voice is very echo, and not clear (I cannot hear anything from the caller)
2/ Caption comes very later.
I returned the product, I will wait until next improve one.

"The unit is simple to set up and operate. It even comes with a customer service button. It protects normal hearing people because it allows only decreased hearing people to manually increase the handset volume."

Disappointing

Pros: works good. great volume control. easy set up.
Cons: poor transcription makes product of little value.
"Product worked OK , but would be useful only as another telephone with answering machine capability. Good volume control. BUT, transcription was way too slow and transcriber didn't understand conversation any better than my poor hearing. Had to return."
