Great Purchase

"The bunk beds looks great and are very sturdy. For the money, I can't imagine a better purchase. I do have two small issues however:
- Like another review, I feel these beds really need a Twin XL mattress. I bought regular twin mattresses (sealy) from Costco the same day I bought this bed and they were 5-6 inches too short. There was a HUGE gap if I slid the mattress all the way to one side. If I tried to position the mattress in the middle, the top bunk had a noticeable size gap at the ladder entrance. A twin XL mattress I bought from the Original Mattress Factory fit completely perfect so buy this set knowing you will need a twin XL.
- The trundle isn't as sturdy as I'd like. The bottom of it is made of thin slats of flimsy wood. Probably good enough... but I wish it was a little bit thicker."

Pending review...but VERY STURDY!

Pros: rich wood tone that can match cherry wood., heavy hard wood frame
Model Number: ccbbwt
"Boxes came with a few dents/holes so one headboard and 2 other boards have damage. I don't have an answer from the company about replacing them yet so will update later.
On the bed sizes; they are true standard twins and my starlet spring mattress 38"W x 74.5"L x 6.75"H from another big box fit perfect! They recommend under 9" but my mattress is flush with top of trundle so beware. Heavy hard wood except most of the screws in trundle are falling out which worries me about the support for trundle mattress. Two boxes @ 330 pounds each arrived much faster that expected but they wait to deliver when customer confirms the date.
Tip, I tossed the cheap plastic coasters and put heavy felt under the legs of the bed so I can easily push/move the bunk bed on wood floors. I wish Bayside told us there was more veneer than advertised, it will peel off on the front of the boards when scratched-but it was from the shipping damage. First review was right, the smell from wood is still strong after a month, even with a fan in room and door open daily. I left the unpacked parts in the garage for a week before putting the bed together.
If the company replaces the damaged parts, I will upgrade to 5 stars. Great, sturdy bunk that feels like its built to last.
Putting the bed together was easy since I spread it out over 2 days. I waited to put the top front guard rails & top stats on top bunk until after it was up on top of lower bunk so the lifting was easier. Overall a great buy! (if they send replacement boards)

Beautiful Bunk Beds - One issue

Pros: beatiful great quality easy assembly
Cons: needs longer mattress than stated and airing out
Model Number: CCBBWT
"We just got this bed yesterday. Very high quality. All the pieces were solid and kind of heavy the way you would expect a solid wood bed to be. I need some really fine grade sandpaper to smooth out a few edges, but not a big deal. It went together easily. The directions were a clearly written booklet.
On the negative, the product description states that it takes two standard size twin mattress. So that's what I bought. Along with new sheets, blankets, quilts, mattress pads, everything. I spent the morning washing all these new things. The bed arrived on time in the early afternoon. We put it together, got the mattress, put it in, and there was a huge gap between the mattress and the end of bed. I measured it and this bed accepts an xtra long twin mattress, not standard. I'm going to make due and insert some high density foam into the 5 inch gap temporarily and eventually build a secret treasure box to fit into the space for my young daughters to hide their goodies from each other.
I checked all the literature that came with the bed and it says 'standard twin', so it's not Costco's typo, but the manufactur's. Also a good side note. This bed has many, many coats of varnish. Which is great quality, but means it stinks out of the box. If you are sensative to VOC's, let the pieces air out in the garage for a while before you build the bed in your home.
One more thing, much easier with a power screw driver. Each bed slat screws into the rails."

Response from Costco:By Costco BuyerFurnitureJune 18, 2012
Thank you for your comments regarding the Canyon Creek Twin Bunk Bed with Trundle, we are excited to hear that you were pleased by the quality. We did however want to touch on the mattress sizing comments above. The length of the bed is 79.5", and the reason is so that the trundle below will hold a 75" Twin mattress, and still store cleanly under the bunks. The normal length of a twin is 76.5". A twin XL mattress is not recommended for this bed, use of a standard twin will allow you room on both sides to make the bed, tuck in blankets, etc. Again, we appreciate your feedback regarding the Bunk Bed.
