Nice system... but still lacking at night
Pros: easy to install, easy to setup, works great in daytime, easy to use over the web, iphone and ipad worked great
Cons: port fowarding didnt work, horrible at night wih low light
"After repeated thefts in the neighborhood I purchased this system based off reviews to try and keep an eye on my house and cars. Daytime viewing was not a problem and was quite good. I had no issues until 20 days after I setup the system. I noticed my Jeep had been broken into and after hours of searching the video from the night before I found the time and the thief on video. You can clearly see an image, no detail but the police officer and I know it was a man in shorts holding a flashlight at 5:34 in the morning, this person was literally 15 feet from the one camera and 25 feet from another and you could not make anything out. Maybe in a well-lit area these cameras would do better at night, but in low light you will be disappointed. The Lorex system worked fine for me, was easy to use and setup for internet viewing was easy even though the port forwarding didn’t work right. I am in IT so it was easy to do. All in all this is a decent system, it just didn’t work for what I wanted, low light night viewing. Thankfully Costco took the return."

Cons: the cables are not rated for in wall installation., the bullet cameras are not ceiling mountable.

"I purchased the "Lorex ECO2 16-Channel Security System with 1TB Hard Drive and 8 High-Resolution Cameras" from Costco.com. It has two major problems. The camera cables are for surface mount only. I am doing an in wall installation. I called Lorex technical assistance, customer service, and sales receiving no help. These cables are not sufficiently insulated to shield from interference from other cables in the walls. I am stuck with replacing the cables adding 25% to the purchase price.
The second problem is that the bullet cameras are not ceiling mountable. A direct quote from the costco.com site on these cameras is "Versatile mounting options: ceiling, counter or wall mountable." The Vantage 7051 camera quick start guide states "This camera is not intended for ceiling mounting. If you mount the camera to a ceiling, the camera will have to point downwards for adequate clearance."
I am frustrated. I thought I researched this pretty hard. I could probably work around the mounting issue but the added cost for cables is hard to swallow. I am taking the whole system back to Costco."

Pros: user-friendly, very customizable, remote monitoring is surprisingly good, motion detection really helps save hd space., cameras look awesome
Cons: dvr fan a little loud.

"I just wanted to say that I am very appreciative of your products. About 6 months ago, I bought a Lorex 16-channel ECO2 DVR/8 Cam kit from Costco. I installed it over two weekends at my residence and had a great time doing it! I can now watch my home when I’m away and I really have a broadened sense of security whenever I leave. I’ve been in law enforcement and security most of my professional life and really believe in your product. Very equivalent to my multi-million dollar cctv system at work. It’s extremely user-friendly, has tons of customization options and provides a crisp picture locally (on my home monitor) and over the internet. Your customer service staff is very pleasant as well. I had to call them once to help with port blocking on my router.
Anyway, I think you have wonderful products, great staff and a truly amazing company doing some amazing things. Thanks for providing me with an affordable and reliable system to help protect my home and family. Highly recommend Lorex CCTV systems."

"The system works well but when I tried to get service to help set up the remote viewing they gave one try of about 5 minutes. Then from that time on whenever I called for help they would cut me off when my number came up (3 times) or have a rep say they were backlogged and would call back. It has been 3 weeks and no call back.
I bought 2 of these systems but cannot get Lorex help."
