Excellent Purchase

Pros: ease of use, nice setting selection, great picture quality
Cons: can't think of any
Model Number: Mitsubishi HC4000 Home Theater Projector Bundle
"This was a family Christmas present and it is awesome!
Everything arrived within a few days of ordering which was great. We had purchased the mounting brackets at the same time so we could mount the projector on the ceiling. Although this package doesn't come with the brackets the projector is made to accept them. One surprise was that the tube holding the screen is actually about 3" longer on each side than the actual screen. This wasn't a problem for us but could be a problem if you're "counting inches". As for viewing it is amazing! Very clear picture (when focused and adjusted correctly), simple to use and just really cool. We've watched all kinds of movies (Matrix, Avatar, Star Wars), tv, sporting events, etc. and everything is awesome. I will say that certain tv shows look better if you adjust the view setting and I actually like sporting events on the standard setting vs. sports. It seems to give more contrast...
Anyway, we love this set and would highly recommend this package. Great product and the price can't be beat."

Good but not great

Pros: fast paced sports, good dark reds greens and blues, whisper quiet, easy to use
Cons: terrible contrast in movies, brightness is lacking in movies, sharpness is lacking in movies, overall lackluster performance in movies
"Honestly, the only thing stopping me from giving this a 3 or even a 2 star review is the fact that the screen is superb. It is nice and matte, rolls super smoothly, and looks nice. It is a bit larger than I expected, but a bigger screen is always better :)
The projector is not great. It's not terrible either. Whereas colors overall are OK, especially dark reds and blues, overall contrast is lacking (even after fidgeting with multiple settings, including bulb power levels). Moreover, the picture quality seems to lack depth at best, seems to lack clarity at worst: when watching typically dark movies (think Matrix, latter HP movies) on blu-ray, the colors seemed washed out, and blacks are simply not convincing.
That said, watching sports with this baby is pure delight. No issues with fast movements, stunning greens and views, definitely makes you feel like you're in the game. And, the projector is super light and very quiet, surprisingly so in fact. I had it for a while sitting a few inches from my head and i couldn't hear it during regular watching, a definite plus.
Moral of the review: definitely a solid choice for someone looking to outfit a man-cave or a sports watching basement, you won't be disappointed. If you are looking for something to outfit your home theater, however, you will be better served by an Epson (the PL 8350 to be exact)."

First HT Projector - Totally Awesome !!!

Pros: color, contrast, brightness, sharpness, ease of use
Cons: no autofocus/zoom
Model Number: Mitsubishi HC4000
"Have been waiting to get a HT Projector for a couple years now. Then wasted my money on an expensive Panasonic Plasma 54 Inch TV a couple years back. The TV is awesome but still 54 inch.
Then finally found this deal at Costco.com - Mitz HC4000 with a 106 inch screen. ITS AWESOME !!! Color - On the Spot. Contrast and brightness are perfect (I watch it in low lamp mode in a dark basement). I wish it had a Auto zoom/focus.
Totally impressed with the projector.
Fan noise - barely audible... even if there is a lil fan noise (cant be more than a laptops cooling fan whirring) it doesnt bother me coz im hooked on to the image ... and my Energy Connoisseur C-9 system rocks my basement.
MUST BUY FOR SOMEONE MOVING ON TO PROJECTORS FROM SMALL SCREEN TVs (70 inch tv is way too small now !!!)
