Medline Elite Transport chair VERY DISAPPOINTED!!

"I bought the Medline Elite Aluminum Transport Chair for my wife because my mother has one. My mother's is around 8 years old and works perfectly. Never had any problems and never had to adjust anything. I also made my decision based on the excellent reviews on the Costco website. After using the wheelchair a couple of times the handles started to become loose where they attached to the frame. With more use the handles became looser and looser until I was afraid they would eventually brake off. In addition, the brakes worked fine at first but gradually got weaker and weaker to the point that they did not work. Compared to my mother's older chair, this product is not built as well. I finally returned the product and bought a different brand.
The only good thing about buying this transport chair is I bought it from Costco who stands by the the products they sell. Costco gets 10 stars, the product gets one star."

Functional for Price
Pros: rolls great., good quality construction, lightweight, easily portable

"Well-made wheelchair. Rolls well. Seat is a bit narrow, so even though may carry a 300 lb individual, that person would not be comfortable in the narrow seat. One negative is the foot rests are non-adjustable and a bit too high. This is important for anyone that cannot lift their legs in order to place the foot on the rest. Currently looking for a repalcement part for the footrests, but may need to return the product because of this. Otherwise, fine quality chair for the price."

Great purchase! Looks great in white!

"Purchased chair to be able to take my elderly (87 years old) mother to my daughter's college graduation in another state. We are very pleased with the purchase.
It is light and easy to load on the car. Has handy storage compartments.
We flew to commencement and were able to wheel my mother right to her seat on the plane (front row). The airline employee pushing her even commented on how nicely it wheeled.
At the hotel the chair fit without any problem through a regular bathroom door. (We did not stay in an accessible room) At home my mother uses a rolling walker to move about, which we did not take with us on the trip. However, due to the sturdiness of the chair, and the ease with which it rolls, she was able to hold on to it and push it to walk around the suite.
I was impressed with how well and effortlessly it rolled on the grass. The ceremony was outside and I had no problem pushing her through grassy areas. In addition, she was comfortable sitting on it for hours.
Since coming home, we have found ourselves using it more than I had expected due to how easily it transports. We have used similar chairs in the past with smaller wheels that did not move remotely as well as this one and which have not been as comfortable.
Once again Costco came through with a great product!"

Strong Sturdy Light weight....Amazing Purchase

"I bought this wheel chair and i am happy with the purchase.
It is light weight-I can easily fold and keep in and out of my VAN. Very easy to assemble.
I gave 4 star because the brakes are not working as expected. One nut was broken at arrival and so only 1 brake works and hand brakes (Which are on the handle) does not get released when we release the brake, but since i use the lower brakes so i have no problem."

"The Chair is excellent for its designed use.
Buyers should note it is a transport wheel chair and the individual in the chair cannot use the wheels to move about.
Prior to the initial use we noted that one of the lock screws on the left brake assembly was missing. It appears that the screw and locknut either vibrated loose in the box or were overlooked during the factory assembly. We were able to locate a replacement locally and are still using the chair, Again it is an Excellent chair (very Light Weight and easy to handle)"

"As always products I order from Costco, it came in record time and in good condition. This is my first time to deal with needing a wheelchair. This one is great in my opinion. It is lightweight, folds in to compact size for easy transport. My mother said it is comfortable as well as a smooth ride. We recently needed to get her to my daughters high school graduation. I was concerned about the distance of getting my mother to the venue as well as her being comfortable for the length of time the ceremony would last. Everything went perfectly and easily thanks to our new wheelchair from Costco!!"

"Overall this appears to be an excellent transport chair but the width of the seat and arms turned out to be too narrow for an overweight 260 pound man. I thought this heavy duty model would be larger than a standard chair. This is a quality product but be sure the person will fit in the seat comfortably. The arm supports of the chair can dig into the legs if the person is large in the hips and thighs. I bought another Medline transport chair model some years ago and it worked very well."

"As always, ordered product was delivered ontime in perfect condition. Easily removed from the box and opended and functional in just minutes with little to no assembly. The chair was well made and in perfect condition, not a nick to be found. Only complaint was that the seat belt seemed very short and would probably not fit a larger person. The chair was much easier to use than a traditional chair and met our need perfectly."
